So glad you are feeling more at home. Texas was a great place from what I saw of it... and you can't beat those signs for that Bucees place to San Antonio! I just wish I'd got more photos of those signs! And the cowboy hats do have a certain allure I just can't explain!

Oh, and just Googled your blog as couldn't remember the URL... perhaps now also time to change the tag line: "The Adventures of Sarah and Paul. An American and a Scot livin' it large in London."? ... something along the lines of ..."living it Texas-large..." perhaps, in honour of the "Texas-sizing" your meal in Dairy Queen!!

Welcome to Texas! Your blog was one of the ones that helped me a couple of years ago when my family spent an extended time in London. My husband worked there for about a year; the kids and I stayed for the summer. We've lived in Texas for 25 years now, so if you need any pointers about this strange foreign land, just say the word!

I wear a kilt everyday and while Iagree with picking a good quality kilt outfit which can be expensive I find cheaperkilt stuff works quite well for every day wear . I hope Paul does not just wear his kilt to posh events and wears it often even to go for a meal or to the pub he will find that the more he wears it the more people will become used to him wearing it and will ask where is your kilt tonight ? if he is not wearing t .Wear your kilt with pride!!

Hi Sarah,

You and Paul have chosen a really good design for his kilt belt buckle.

I would just like to make one point, if the photo shown is of Paul wearing the kilt belt and buckle, he is wearing it to low.

The kilt belt should be worn at the very top of the kilt, and not lower down as shown in your photo.

If you would like any advice on kilts and their accessories, please visit my site at http://www.your-kilt.com

Kind Regards,

David.

I diluted it per the instructions on the bottle to make up a liter of liquid. It definitely wasn't neat when I put it in the ice cream mixer! Good luck, and let me know how you get on. I'd be interested if it turns out well for you or if you do anything different.

I'd like to try making the cordial myself, perhaps if I find a good place to collect them I will!

Try making the cordial. It's easy and really rewarding. Get the mix right and you will blow the shop cordial out of the glass.

I am going to try your recipe above with the cordial produced from my back garden. Did you dilute the cordial down before starting it in the ice-cream maker, or was it neat?

Oh, the flowers left on the bush after you have collected become elderberries. Good for trillions of things, but usually best known for their home-brew potential.

Regards,
Ian...
