I’m talking about the Youtube order of results. I have a video under my username “Batyaboo”. In the title of the video I have the word “Marvalous”, which is the product I’m promoting. When I do a search in Youtube for the word “Marvalous” my video shows up in the 20th (!!!) place. My video currently has almost 600 views. 90% of the videos that show up above mine have way less views (42, 53 etc.). I cannot figure this out for the life of me. Is there some secret place to put tags that assure you of a high rank in Youtube? What’s the point in doing nice video clips if people have to scroll 10 times down to see them?

@Dena is he in the number one spot and you’re in number two? Google is always split-testing videos and links against eachother to see what order generates the most click-throughs

All I can say is “I LIKE”.
I think I found your Youtube video about how to make money on Youtube by googling something like “how do I get to the first page of Youtube”. I loved your video. I loved your style and the simplicity of it all.
I am going to follow your stuff. I like you.

Now that I buttered you up enough, quick question – If I have a video with 460 views and some other shmoe has a video with 20 views and we’re both using the same keyword in our title and tags, how come his video is right ABOVE mine? What’s the secret here? Mine is also a month old vs. his two weeks old. What am I missing here?

In any event, thanks for your content. It IS good stuff!

This was a fun well written blog you have Russell. I am actually glad that I dropped by. I personally like reading stories that get me hooked and are entertaining than just straight info that is more of the same I have read all over the place.

It is an interesting point on piracy that I never gave much thought. I know that the pricing structure of Microsoft is always built around piracy but I love the angle you take on making raving fans by ensuring the absolute best content to help them get what they need.

Russell, Great advice and spot on as usual.. I really do think the reason people avoid Step #1 in the steps to starting a business is this, they are unsure, afraid and overstimulated with the options, choices, and the wealth of information available online.

Fundamentally, everyone realizes the tremendous potential available online. They want to create a tribe, provide guidance and leadership plus market products that they believe in. Unfortunately, the many paths, sites, articles, blogs all have different suggestions as to how to proceed in developing and creating that tribe plus every single expert out there wants you to join their clan and buy their products.

So for someone who wants to get started and has a vision once entering the online community that focus becomes blurred and that original focus is continually questioned and often lost in the acquisition of expertise and knowledge.

For me, Russell, it’s Step 2; remaining focused on my intention and goal with my business. Prior to this I considered myself a “Jack of All Trades.” Jack, however, was a “master of none,” as I went from job to job; career to career. I made good money in some of them, but it was always for someone else. It’s MY turn now!

I agree Russell… having real steps to follow makes a huge difference in getting started right. When we start up and are just all over the place with what we want/need to do, it feels like we’re not really getting anything done. It can cause a feeling of being overwhelmed and for some people, it may make them say, “I’m OUT!”. I will check out that video from Frank Kern. I’ve never heard of him before but, it sounds like good stuff! Thank you!

Great post bro. It is so true that when encouraging others to start a business without a blueprint for success or proper steps is a disaster. Shifting the mindset is the 1st thing and a key ingredient. I can’t believe you are giving away core influences from Frank Kern! He is a Bruce Lee of Internet Marketing and a successful entrepreneur. Nice post Russell. My biggest obstacle has been the demands of the outside world. Outside of my family, home, and computer I have avoided committing to anything. Still active in the community but I will not take on any managerial tasks.
Moments of online overwhelm are the perfect time to get out and do other things that have to be done. Yard work, pet walking/grooming, going to work(contract janitor) – all of these things are mindless tasks and allow me to work out any problems I’m having online in my head.
By the time I return to my task at hand I feel rejuvenated and full of creative ideas.
