Batwoman is one of the books I enjoy and follow in the new 52. I do wish Amy Reeder had not been dismissed for "creative differences" as I liked her take on the art. Sometimes the mess that the art is on the page makes it hard to read and gets confusing. That takes the enjoyment out for me. This was a good team up. It sure did progress the story forward with a rapid push. This book is even better after these books.

It was a good start, and the twist with her being the Earth-2 Helena was what got me to get World's Finest. I have been curious about those old Huntress stories and decided to start buying them when I run across issues in back issue bins. So far World's Finest has been good, now outstanding, but a solid read.

I have been disappointed in the Birds of Prey. I am staying loyal for now, but if prices and money pushes any harder I can't say it is not on the chopping block. I think you keyed in on something for me in your reviews, the lack of camaraderie between the women is lacking. It is being played as a straight team book as well. I think that annoys me some. With Barbara always sidelined because she was in the wheelchair, there was a tension of her sending others into danger. She could not go herself to aid them. Having creative ways for her to get around her limitations was often as enjoyable as the action Black Canary and others provided. I am still with them, but I am hoping for some better stories.

I started reading this after ECHO ended. It is really good, but the story just didn't grab me as much as Echo did. The price and that fact had me drop it and decide to wait and buy it as it is collected in trades. It is creepy and really different. Those that like suspense and horror mixed should take a look.

I disagree that that's how Xavin was presented in the book. I think maybe Xavin was those stereotypes to the world at large -- which was presented as fearing all the Runways -- but not the group themselves.

Do I think Xavin is the end-all-be-all to transgendered characters in comics? No. And I certainly believe that there need to be more who perhaps more explicitly deal more consciously with gender.
