Perhaps you need to re-read the statement. It speaks and implies nothing of ignoring freight concerns. If you cared enough to actually research the issue, you'd learn that the creation of safe and adequate bicycle facilities actually lessen interference to traffic (including freight) by cyclists, while simultaneously giving cyclists a safe place to ride. You'd also learn that many American lives would be saved by improved pedestrian and bicycle design practices (see results pertaining to safety of pedestrians, bicyclists, and motor vehicle occupants in practically every other first-world nation on earth). And you'd learn that this can be done without creating new freight bottlenecks.

So, you can focus on your apparently narrow worldview and not be disappointed, while others with other perspectives are actually reasonably accomodated too. But perhaps you think that it's preferrable for us to have the most dangerous transportation system in the first world? If we follow your logic, we will certainly remain that way.

Domestic energy production is key to the economic fruition of America. Instead of spending our wealth abroad for foreign resources, we have a chance to strengthen America’s energy portfolio with our own.

The safe statement that "depending on the student, offer more rewarding education and career opportunities...." may be true but there is tons of evidence that proves a college education gives you a better chance at continual employment.

As Judge Smails said "Well, the world needs ditch diggers, too."

Still, a college education is a proven benefit. I just wish I had gone.

Overwhelmingly, Americans think your version of free trade is bad for America. NAM and the Non-US Chamber of Commerce insist we are all wrong. Honestly, we aren't all sheep feeding at the corporate trough blindly nodding when you tell us your so called free trade agreements are good for us. We see the factories close, we see the lines of unemployed, we have friends who work at Wally World now instead of Whirlpool. I've seen molds pulled out of presses two days after NAFTA was implemented so they could be shipped 2 blocks over the border to take advantage of slave labor. I've seen your version of free trade and want nothing to do with it.
