I got it before the Nook came out and when Barnes and Noble released their e-reader I took a little peek at the store just to verify that my Kindle was more awesome =) I was right. The one huge complaint I would have over the Nook is the actual touchscreen. I can only imagine the fingerprints on it after I was done using it. My Ipod touch is never without fingerprints...............hee hee hee. Anyhoo, I know I'm locked with Amazon but what an awesome company to be locked with. Before the big battle with the publishing houses, Amazon had some of the best prices for e-books. When the publishing houses demanded more money, Amazon was going to pay it but still wanted to keep the prices low for us readers. The greedy publishers said no because it "cheapens" their books and newly released titles (whatever! Not quite sure why I have to pay what was almost going to be the same price as a paperback/hardback if there are no stocking fees, paper fees, shipping fees,etc.). Amazon really went to bat for us during the negotiations. So for that, I'll always be a loyal Amazon customer. I don't think I could ever go back to reading actual books. Nothing beats being able to receive a book (even a newly midnight release title) from the comfort of my bedroom at any time of day while lying down lol =) I LOOOOOOOOVE my Kindle!
