My boy was diagnosed as mildly mentally handicapped here in Canada. He is now in Grade 9 and his curriculum is modified and/or adapted. I know that he will not get the regular dogwood diploma in high school but the evergreen one – which means that he will be able to take technical/vocational courses should he pursue post-secondary studies. We are very fortunate because the government here provides funding for kids like him with special needs.

Thank you for this comment to an article I wrote a long time ago. I really hope that more doctors would be interested in this specialization as well as the sub-specialty of developmental pediatrics for the (growing incidence of) children with special needs and learning difficulties.

Dear Teacher Julie,
Thank you for this post. I recently graduated from pediatric residency and opt to pursue a subscpecialty. Adolescent med is not popular and only a few knew there’s such a subspecialty. And some doctors don’t even know there’s such a thing. Though, I find Adole Med as a promising field and considering it as one of my career options.

Have an emergeny Charisse…do you have an copy or file of the Be Thankful song. We can’t seem to buy a Psalty 6 Cd here…and we really need it by Monday…thanks soooo much! God bless! (cant find that song at the search engines or youtube….waaah)
