CALMNESS IN OUR LIVES

I am passing this on to you because it definitely works and we
could all use a little more calmness in our lives. By following simple
advice heard on the Oprah show, you too can find inner peace.

Dr. Oz proclaimed, 'The way to achieve inner peace is to finish
all the things you have started and have never finished.'

So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and
hadn't finished, and before leaving the house this morning, I finished
off a bottle of White Zinfandel, a bottle of Tequila, a package of
Oreos, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the
cheesecake, some Doritos, and a box of chocolates. You have no idea how
freaking good I feel right now.

Pass this on if you know anyone you think might be in need of
inner peace....

@Terry & Carole: I agree with both of you, there are many paths, and that our true nature is not accurately described (but hey, what is?). :)

Experiencing these higher states though--no matter which path--is critical to weakening the grip of the personal self and is why I created these meditations--as kind of a shortcut to interrupt the personal self and help expose it for what it is...an illusion.

Thanks for your comments.

Terry,

I appreciate your postings here, but have to disagree with you that the only way to really experience emptiness/ samadhi is through hard work in deep meditation. That used to be the only reliable way to experience it. Now, people can be easily guided, in one or two sessions to a very real, authentic experience of this peak state that used to take many years to achieve.

Wayne,

Seems like the when ever there is an idea of division of one into 2 one is dealing with fundamental division, like metaphysical division. So I totally agree with you that the recognition of 2 basic states is possible. I would like to elaborate from my own perspective and hopefully add to the discussion.

A division of one into two implies that there is an original whole. THis could be called the Tao. This is a state that cannot be experienced because it transcends experience. (SAT)

On the level of experience (which is the 2 divided elements within the one) there is the basic division of subject and object.

THis is where your ideas appear-the emptiness is the experience of the subject with no object to experience. This is hard because it is like a coin with only one side. A paradox. The only way to really experience this state is hard work in deep meditation. It is Samadhi. (CHIT) (Father)

The experience of gentleness is the subject (you) experiencing bliss. Bliss is the most basic and continuous experience in the universe. I would add though that all experiences such as happiness, energetic motion, emotion, anger, sadness are all manifstations of the same material that bliss or gentleness is made of. (Ananda) (Mother)

This is the basis of the Hindu belief that our true nature is SAT-CHIT-ANANDA.

Wayne's suggestion of getting moving is a good one. Get physical and get your energy moving again. If you are male, look into "the breath of fire" and try it out. Get outside in nature if possible. If you are female, explore your emotions and find some music that evokes different ones, and really let yourself have them fully. Especially great to do with a friend. Depression is often the resistance to feeling things fully. Find a good transpersonal therapist who is awake and capable of guiding others into awakening. This can save you years of meditation which can be a slow path. As for motivation, if you are smoking funny cigarettes, know that they are great motivation killers. If you've had a peak experience of "nothingness, no one here, everything is perfect", know that it may be a temporary state and can mess with you motivation as it feels like there is nothing to be done. (Wayne talked about this in previous blogs). Depression itself is usually a temporary state as well. However, don't hesitate to get help if it really has you in it's grip.

That principle also works for weight loss. Sometimes it's better to cheat after a certain time for two reasons: (1) the psychological thrill of doing something "forbidden", and (2) giving your body a surprise for a day so that it doesn't "plateau" and keeps burning energy.

Speaking of --don't worry 'bout me. The new area has a gym! Should take a month or two for my hyper metabolism to kick in again; then I'll be a bit like our *other* brother. ;)

Hi Wayne (and Wayne's Reader) ... I definitely concur with what you're saying, Wayne ... I've experienced this same dynamic myself ... as has anyone I know who has "made it" all the way here. And so, first, I'd say it's completely normal. Second, I'd agree that temporarily "backing off" is a good way to go. AYP (Advanced Yoga Practices) is actually the only system I know of that as a system emphasizes the need for self-pacing. Doing this (self-pacing) can actually make a vast difference in being able to keep at it (meditation, inquiry, other practices). Many spiritual practitioners are like runners training for a marathon who pull a hamstring, and try to keep (so to speak) running through all manner of emotional and psychological upheaval. Self-pacing in spirituality is extremely similar to self-pacing in any other area of life: balance, moderation, backing off as needed ... and continuing, otherwise. I also agree with your comment on teachings of the Gita; "Let Go and Let Flow" ... it's all that constricted thinking that makes it all so difficult (thinking about being depressed or unmotivated is a thousand times worse than simply feeling depressed or demotivated; primarily because all such feelings are much more a moment to moment phenomenon than conditioned mind tends to think). I hope this is helpful.

Love your sight Carol also see you Wayne as more of a friendly guy/de!

Feel that when we tread the path of the heart, sight is with different eyes.. Therefore the gifts which we are graced with lie within us all. In some slumbering, in others fully awakened and acting under their command as tools to help those who come for guidance. For it is only possible to see within another that which is also within ourselves. Such a one only guide, inspire and nudge us to follow our own inner light to listen to the divine sound within. The role of the messenger of love; the path we are destined for in this life.
From these beings are flowing currents of love and consciousness so strong that by their mere presence or sitting near them the mind is inclined to get under control and stilled to some extent. The teaching of these ones are imparted in a unspoken language, the language of the soul. The soul is a particle of God and His great mystery. It speaks without tongue or throat. In such a one God has hidden a sun.. (probably why they seem to glow ;) The rays of the sun shine on everyone. Every being has and is a divine capacity we only need remember this…
This mornings quote in my diary had my thoughts turned to your post, “I lift you and you lift me and we both ascend together” ..

Wayne, these photos are truly some of the most moving and extraordinary art I've ever seen. I can't even come close to picking a favorite though I love the pinwheel plant, as well as the wheat (?) poking through the parched earth. Thinking of you and hoping you are well.
down to earth enlightenment...I like it, and the wry humor in it. Just don't be so sure "your way" is the only one out there that is not top down. (that would sure make you "special"). The new paradigm for sharing awakening/enlightenment has changed from the hierarchical, aesthetc, disengaged masculine model to a much more egalitarian gathering in truth in which there is not a "teacher'. The guru has become the group wisdom, embodied in many. Buddha talked about Maitreya coming to be the next teacher of truth, a couple thousand years after him. Maitreya means "friend".

Good post; Wayne, and an important one. Thanks for posting it. I clicked on it because I've literally been reading about Jung's views on synchronicity (he coined the term). You've basically called it: after enlightenment, it's like the me (the illusion of personal self) stops before the mind does ... and the non-stopping of conditioned mind is what generates the thoughts of "where's my motivation?", along with paying attention to those thoughts. Reflection upon reflection is deeply conditioned in the body-mind.

You wrote: "The gist of the post (from various sources) is that you just do what feels like you are supposed to–not with reason (you simply don’t know why), but with that internal guidance system which is so much louder after you wake up than it was before (because there is less personal desire/noise blocking it)." That's it; that's been my experience, as well. And as soon as we get that this is how it goes, letting go increases, and the overall dynamic takes on a life of its own .... and the general awesomeness increases many-fold. As Adyashanti says: "Just Let Go".

To paraphrase Wayne Dyer ... The wake of the boat does not steer the boat. It's the
present moment actions of the driver that does the steering.

I know it's not easy to stay in the present moment, but with ~mindfulness~ it can be done.

Very beautiful picture. I always wonder... sunrise or sunset ? ;)

@Christine: Thanks Christine. I know that many won't understand what I've been going through, but a big reason for my blogging is to provide a "diary" of my experiences for any who are interested, seekers and non- alike. When you get to the "Limbo Point" (or any of the "trials" I've gone through), hopefully you'll remember reading about it here and this blog will help you out.

As for courage, don't think that "confessing to the world" isn't something you can't do yourself. Any fear you feel about opening up about your life is just the personal self trying to protect itself. It's a wonderful practice and tremendously freeing to "open up" and weaken the ego (obviously don't reveal identity theft info).
