Compassion on the spirital level brings wisdom; the two arise mutually, so I have read, and as Wayne always says, you have to live it to know it, so that it will come naturally, not falsely. Perhaps a better answer might be along the lines of; that as a Buddhist you live/reside within not tied to any artificial geographic location. You always end up where you're meant to be.
