Thank you for this Article! I have heard for so long that Soy and Tofu were the healthy alternative to meats for protein and the myth is widespread . I have recently read about cases where men with high intakes of soy and its photoestogens have registered estrogen levels above that of a pregnant woman. And much of the associated symptoms were irreversible.

Dear Kelly,
Thank you for being honest. I don't know you that well, but we serve together on a board, and I'm looking forward to working with you more as this year progresses. It is so hard for us - the Cheerleaders for everyone else - to admit when we're hurting. And that only makes our downtime last longer. I am a Pollyanna in the extreme. I always try to put on a happy face no matter what is going on, and there have been a few times in my life when I just needed to shut down for a while, retreat from public life, and heal. Then, I bounced back! It is so important to give voice to your hurts. Be with your pain and anger. Dig in and yell! You will be back. Change is rough. But you will get to the other side stronger, and more sure of yourself for going through this time Honestly!

There can be a lot of factors but especially with diarrhea I would start by checking for parasites through a stool sample. Another option would be a good probiotic to see if you can replenish good gut flora. It takes 6-8 weeks for the mucosal lining of the intestines to repair itself so you might consider a short term supplment protocol to help rebuild the lining (such as Gastrozyme and IPS from Biotics). It's difficult to know where your starting point should be without a Nutritional Analysis though.

I disagree! All calories are not created equal. 100 calories of broccoli will help weight while 100 calorie snack pack of Nutter Butters won't. They are both 100 calories but the effect on your health is substantially different. Don't be deceived that counting calories is healthy. There may be short term weight loss but there will be long term health ramifications.

Hi Kellie. Thanks for the info. Am a 63 yr old Asian male already retired but still active mentally, spiritually and physically. Lucky me(?) i weigh 150 lbs on a 5'5" frame w/ a 31-in waist, but I take maintenance meds for my blood press and supplements - vitamins, CoQ10 and the like. Having stayed in Malaysia for almost 3 yrs now, I find my stomach cannot handle the spicy food they have here and so I either eat my wife's cooking or out of a tin can (usually fish). That said, I'll appreciate any advise you may have on diet, esp on diarrhea. Thanks and God bless!

I'm sorry they took your gallbladder incorrectly. There are over 500,000 gallbladders removed in the US each year! Good saturated fats and apple cider vinegar will help keep your liver uncongested. But emulsification of the fats is critical. We can always drop ship bile salts to you or if you send me your location I can find a practitioner in your area. As with all supplements it's really important to know the practitioner so you are getting the highest quality product that has been third-party verified.

Thank you for posting about this! I lost my gallbladder because doctors didn't correctly diagnose my pain. This can happen after pregnancy. Gallstones are the body's adaptive strategy to a deficiency in fats and cholesterol so eating good saturated fats will dissolve them if you are in the earlier stages. I've been taking digestive enzymes with meals but I will look specifically for bile salts. It is VERY difficult to find info on health after gallbladder removal. THANK YOU again for posting about it!

Don't know why the FDA would shut down a business for lacking a license it's not required by law to have. However, I think that this action isn't completely evil. The FDA is held responsible when there are food outbreaks. If Rawsome customers started becoming ill, I can assure you people will demand the FDA an explanation. Are they covering their behinds? You bet but they're also preventing sickness and loss of American lives. The FDA should reach an agreement with private clubs like these. Agreeing to periodic testing of their product will surely appease the FDA.

Another thing, a lot has changes since our grandparents time. Besides these permits have been put in place to keep people safe. They're not perfect but work.

I'm fully on board with you on freedom of choice. That is not why I write. It's your headline:
With your headline you seem to imply that the USA is a Democracy - which it is not.It is a Republic. A republic and a democracy are identical in every aspect except one. In a republic the sovereignty is in each individual person. In a democracy the sovereignty is in the group.

Now it is totally possible that you asked the headline question in a sarcastic way, based on the fact that in a republic we have the right to individual freedom, whereas in a democracy the will of the majority "may" be forced on everybody. Of course, based on many rulings in recent years, we do know that the government doesn't give a rat's tail about the will of the MAJORITY unless it fits the politicians' agenda.

I would say, your headline would have made a bigger impact had it read "Are We Now Living in a Dictatorship Where Government Tells Me What I Can Eat or Not?"

Keep up the good work.
Thanks
Margarete

I’m fully on board with you on freedom of choice. That is not why I write. It’s your headline:
With your headline you seem to imply that the USA is a Democracy – which it is not.It is a Republic. A republic and a democracy are identical in every aspect except one. In a republic the sovereignty is in each individual person. In a democracy the sovereignty is in the group.

Now it is totally possible that you asked the headline question in a sarcastic way, based on the fact that in a republic we have the right to individual freedom, whereas in a democracy the will of the majority “may” be forced on everybody. Of course, based on many rulings in recent years, we do know that the government doesn’t give a rat’s tail about the will of the MAJORITY unless it fits the politicians’ agenda.

I would say, your headline would have made a bigger impact had it read “Are We Now Living in a Dictatorship Where Government Tells Me What I Can Eat or Not?”

Keep up the good work.
Thanks
Margarete

It's sad that the FDA is trying to restrict access to natural supplements and foods, but they eagerly give their consent to gadgets and foods which are not only bad for people but also costly. Of course that is probably the reason why.

Brilliant post Kellie! It's so easy to get pulled into the calories in vs calories out plan and I have to admit I've thought that way for a number of years as being the "healthy choice" but you're right -- as usual. :)
