William Manchester was not a Guadalcanal
veteran. Yes; on his way to war, he stopped
off at Guadalcanal, but by that time, the
Japanese had left the island. Great book, though.

Hitler’s Last Will and Testament was not in the movie 13 Rue Madeleine, just a file folder labeled 13 Rue Madeleine. The reference to the Hitler documents was to research for an article I was writing about them. Sorry for any confusion.

Thanks for the informative post,Greg.
The Digital Photographic Imaging lab has digitized Hitler’s last Will & testament for exhibits before, but I was unaware it had been featured in a movie. We are currently digitizing one of the Monument Men Albums, and I know about the George Clooney movie in the works, but I had no idea about 13 Rue Madeleine. I will put it on my list & certainly watch for the Archives starring role.

Great post, Greg- a nice concise summary of an intriguing intersection of Hollywood and Archives. I see this movie whenever it’s on TV, and I made my daughter watch the opening scenes a few months ago, too.

seeking to retrieve information related to the longitude and latitude of the U.S.S America (cva-66) for 1972-73 while stationed of the coast of Vietnam. I know we were close to shore but not sure how close, i know that we were chased by N. Vietnamese gun boats and had to launch aircraft. in an attempt to support my Va claim – i could use any info related to our stay off the coast of Vietnam
