AWESOME! I’m constantly searching for vegetarian-related blogs and I stumbled your site. I can not believe the amount of quality material that exists on this site. The site is extremely eye catching and pulls the reader straight in, the articles are great quality and are very professionally written. I have seen too many of these sites where it looks like they pay an 8 year old to do the writing - Not this one. Your site is easily the best that I have seen in a long while. Keep the good work going! thank you for sharing.

Tammy, I discovered your blog only now, & hope you are still writing it.

Reading about your preparations has me wanting to make some of these - especially the Yarrow & Goldenrod diarrhea tea, Mimi's balm mentioned above, & the Winter Nourishing infusion. I need the approximate amounts you have used, though! Even though you may not measure, will you PLEASE give out these recipes? Approximations are fine!

Now I'm continuing the search for the sage smudge sticks you'd mentioned elsewhere - & I see soap making links also! Exciting!

Thanks for sharing!

Tami, from what I've read about MINERAL OIL, it is not used in natural preparations because it is a petroleum product that clogs the skin's pores. Mineral oil gives the feel & look of moisturizing, but falsely so, as it sits atop the skin & does not allow the skin to absorb the benefits of herbs, nor to carry out skin's important function of excreting sweat, uric acid & other bodily waste products.
Plant oils, on the other hand, are absorbed by the skin & do nourish, moisturize, & protect the skin, while acting as a carrier of herbs' & essential oils' benefits. Some of the many oils that are great for your skin are: sweet almond oil (especially excellent for therapeutic massage because it doesn't rancidify, it doesn't become sticky nor slippery on the skin, it has no smell, it is easily absorbed, etc.), sesame oil (particularly recognized by Ayurveda), coconut oil, Hawaiian kuikui nut oil, olive oil (used for thousands of years in the olive-growing Mediterranean), & many more. ~ I encourage you to research oils further & get to know their many characteristics, including how quickly they may become rancid, especially after exposure to different heat temperatures.

Have you noticed that depending on the area they're found in that while I'm certain it's the same plant there are many variants in the flowers color? I've seen white(like your photo) and the purple variety is what grows around my home, but have even come across a red variety.

Thanks to your site, I am in the middle of making a goldenrod, yarrow, mint infusion. I used olive oil as my medium but I've been wondering about the use of mineral oil in infusions. Is there a reason why I never see mineral oil used? After more than 20 years of self educating myself about natures herbs I'm finally trying to give a practical purpose to what I've learned.
Love your blog and find it very helpful. Thanks.

I have made jellies for about 30 years. You can rework the jelly and it usually does set but frequently I just use the syrupy stuff for ice creams, pancakes, or to flavor recipes and teas. Do you have any good suggestions for using lemon verbena? I love the way this plant smells and will try it in the white vinegar household cleaner recipe you provided. I can't wait to see how it does. Also, I'm an amatuer herbalist and absolutely love your site. What an excellent resource for info. Thanks.

Thanks Tammy! Your Poke is ready already? Its still green up here. I will refer to this article again and dry some berries in a few weeks. Great to read on your dosages.

This may be why Poke is showing up everywhere? These times calling for strong medicine?

My kidneys are finicky so I'll definitely nourish them if ever I need a poke this winter.
