Hi George:

What kinds or Pre-Tests and/Post-Tests do you have in mind? I do know that it's the experience that happens in a batterer intervention group not left-brained knowledge of abstractions that's important so testing can be difficult.

Thank you for your response. There are a number of studies of the effectiveness of batterer intervention programs. Edward Gondolf Ph.D. has conducted meta-analyses which demonstrate that re-assault rates decrease in both severity and number for men who complete an intervention program. Men who dropped out of a program were twice as likely to re-offend. The best outcomes resulted from a batterer intervention program in combination with a strong and sustained community coordinated response.

Your post is factually incorrect. Most of these programs do not work. The Duluth Model was found to be equally as effective as no intervention what so ever.
