Second, I hadn't seen that video before, but I had seen those instructions. I'm using a Mac to make the sticks, and I did format using Disk Utility. I'm at work, on a PC, so I don't have everything in front of me, but I'm pretty sure I tried both the Mac OX Extended format and the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. The first time I ran the creator, when the software hung, I had not done the Mac format, which was my bad. I can always give it another try.
