I haven't finished reading the book yet, but I also was immediately taken aback by Andy's sexist narrative. And I, too, can only hope the author purposely added that as a character flaw and the author doesn't share the same sexist beliefs. I don't like Andy at all and right away, it's, in general, turning me off from the book.
