Well thanks polyGeek. I figured I won't be implementing the xml part and just stick to other external controls. For one, my xml file is changing overtime (via php) and IE has a problem with caching xml files.

Thanks for video maru and you look great !!!

@Stone Deft, it's been a long time since I worked with videoMaru - 18 months - but let me suggest something. As videoMaru creates buttons it gives them instance names: linkBtn_0, linkBtn_1, etc ( I think that's it. ) You can notify videoMaru to call a function when it is done with all it's work. At that point you can access the XML data and loop through it to read data and add that to the linkBtns in sequence. I'm pretty sure that will work but it requires a pretty good understanding of videoMaru.

@Depak, I don't think videoMaru will work with live streaming. I had never messed with live streaming before when I was creating videoMaru. And honestly, it never crossed my mind that so many people would use it and for so many different purposes.

hi.. i downloaded the source code of the videomaru video player in .fla format! this is great..

Everything is working fine with the pre recorded videos by giving the path such as rtmp://localhost/vod/sample.flv.

I have flash media server hosted...

But am trying to play the live streaming captured from my webcam or tvtuner. so that I gave the rtmp url as "rtmp:localhost/live/livestream" But it is not playing..

The myVideo.isLive = true; syntax is not found in ur source code it seems... I think this is also the reason for not playing the live streaming videos!!!!

but i dont know how far its true..

but i created my own flv player by draging flv playback in flv component and i created a new layer and feeded that islive=true syntax. and i entered the rtmp url. Live streaming is working fine..

Help me related this issue! tel me y your player is not compatible with the live streaming

I am trying to make everything configurable from flashvars (created dynamically from the users config). It is mostly simply a case of hiding the buttons if the flashvar is true.

e.g.
function videoMaruCreationComplete(maru:Object):Void {
	if(showPlayButton=='false') {
 play_btn._visible = false;
	};
}

The exception is the startPlay button. Hiding this button does not make the video start playing and I have searched and searched.

How would I remove the startPlay button using FlashVars & AS so that the video can be played normally?

Also:
Is it possible to set a buffer using flashvars & AS?

@Rick, there are no text animation effects built into videoMaru. You could intercept the text, or read the text from the TextField and create your own effects. I'm not sure how this would work with Actionscript 2. It's been so long since I did anything with AS2 that I've forgotten a lot of the details.
