Great question Dale. Certainly no "Change you can believe in" with these election results. It's more of the same old politics as the region continues to slide deeper into despair.

As for Barry Grossman's narrow victory. This will be fun to watch. These aren't restaurant employees or vendors begging to be paid he'll be bullying. He's now dealing with greedy politicians and union members with strong political ties and whose cushy patronage jobs they intend to keep at the taxpayer's expense. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for Barry's head to explode as his notorious temper kicks in and overtakes his campaign coolness. Be careful what you wish for Barry because you just got it.

Comment on Erie Police Department~ Internal Problems? by Mike

When I visited Erie over the summer, I made a stop a Celebrate Erie. I was standing in a line of about a dozen people at the Pufferbelly stand waiting to purchase a slice of peanut butter pie. While we were waiting in line, an Erie police officer came into the line. Deciding it was too long, he decided to walk to the front of the line and cut everyone else off, this without saying a word to anyone, and then walked away eating his pie.

I understand the cop was busy working this crowded event and didn't have the time to wait in line, but common courtesy would dictate that he at least say something to the people he cut along the lines of "Hey, I apologize for cutting you but I gotta get back to work." But he didn't do that. He didn't have the decency to acknowledge anyone in line.

I mention this because I think this symbolizes part of the problem with both Sinnott and some of the E.P.D. There's a lack of respect for the public. They want different rules in place for them, and heaven forbid anyone question the status quo. If someone does ask questions, as the Erie Times-News did to Sinnott, he responds by asking the reporter if she's on "A personal crusade against the chief?" No Joe, no crusade, just want the facts.

I understand the E.P.D. has a tough job and they deal with a lot of garbage, but at the same time there have been several recent incidents where police have acted above the law, and/or have shown disrespect for the public. The Cousins incident is one. Sending Jimmy D and Franklin to Vegas is another. The recent fiasco where a firefighter fled an accident is another. There have also been recent concerns that the E.P.D has not made the public aware of a string crimes that have happened in certain neighborhoods.

The problem is that neither Sinnott nor the leaders at the E.P.D will ever acknowledge the problem unless it is forced upon them, like it is now.

One of the few examples of marketing beyond the limits of Erie.
Why hasn't our undeveloped Bayfront been exposed to development opportunites from out of State developers? Erie does not have a Bayfront Plan to market!! Even a restaurant has a plan, most businesses have a plan, most individuals have a plan, WHY DOES ERIE NOT HAVE A PLAN? Must be they don't want a plan...why not???
Maybe someone else could market that plan and the POWER PLAYERS
might not be included?

It would be as simple as exposing the development opportunity to the
nation, just like our new restaurant did....it isn't rocket science, as long as Erie succumbs to control by a few it will be overlooked by the MANY.

Dale, the original excitement still stands: a local concern gets national press, even if it was self-initiated. I have to hand it to 1201 Kitchen for having broad enough thinking for an Erie establishment to pay PRNewsWire for the national placement. Other businesses in Erie should make the investment to think more globally and expand their brand beyond the locals.

Dale thanks for advising us of new and innovative restaurants opening in Erie. These are the kind of business that will bring new life, food and excitement to the downtown area.

When Matthews Trattoria closed, the Erie area lost another great chef.
I heard rumors of a possible return of Chef Matthew and I for one hope
Erie is fortunate enough to have another opportunity to share his presentations.

Forbes article or not we welcome another attempt to bring new and exciting food and entertainment to Erie.

Sorry if i mislead anyone~it was not intentional. And I assure you that from my own experience, the item and my own comments are valid.

It is a good piece. I'd like to point out, however, that it's not an article in Forbes at all, but rather a press release written by 1201 that goes out over a popular wire service used by PR firms.

You'll notice at the top, the graphic says "PR Newswire." And instead of the author, at the bottom the source is listed as 1201.

"I have my own leaning, which I am not going to reveal just yet. Maybe later."

Whom do you think you're kidding, Dale? You've semaphored your preference for Mr. Grossman, not least because of his support for the ill-advised community college proposal.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH there being a class being taught in the thought of learning how to drive or control light rail and or being a conductor,? i cant see why not, we have all the need be, just getting the railroads to back up the fed part and look at the increase of funding we would get in terms of job skills training isnt there somebody else that sees the positive and bonus for this happening?
