Just after I posted this entry about Fernwood Katya opened a bottle of their estate 2007 Chardonnay. Very nice! Light butter and oak with a slight acid bite that is barely noticeable. It was excellent with California sturgeon for lunch.

I am always amazed when I enter a winery in an industrial park, I am just so used to wineries surrounded by vineyards. Of course, there are GREAT wines coming out of industrial parks, Rosenblum, Carol Shelton, and Crushpad wines.

We have an advert on TV at the moment, where a panel of wine tasters recruit a blind man and look to him to help make their decisions. And it brings across your point of who is right, which taster since so many of missing the mark

Yes Gary, there is real wine adventure in SF now. Many Crushpad events don't include the tiny urban wineries. We'll probably have more events with them. There is a lot of interest.

Saw you on twitter. I was recently at an Urban Winemakers dinner in San Francisco (sponsored by Crushpad), and the wines were delicious. Lacking acidity a bit, which is typical for this area, but otherwise delicious. Indeed, there is a lot of activity around urban wine-making right now, thanks to a place like Crushpad.

Thank Jim! As co-owner of the Temecula Olive Oil Company we focus on elevating the public awareness of the virtues of California Extra Virgin Olive Oil. There are many hardworking farmers all over the state producing fabulous oils and by supporting the local farmer you are also supporting the local community. With all of the speculation surrounding the corruption of the imported business a wise consumer researches what they are putting in their bodies. Plus many growers like us, use sustainable growing practices which are also great for the local community and a fun story for families to explore. Let us know how we can support your efforts here. Thanks for all you do! Best regards, Nancy
