Just did little calc. Rougly at distance 13,85 billion light years space is stretching faster than the speed of light then. So i doubt we will see any further as we see now (which was stated in one of the previous videos).

@zbe8 That’s pretty odd. I did the calc too, with the uncertainty 3.1+ or – added and the distances range from 13.3 to 14.5 Billion LtYrs distance. It seems pretty strange that we’d be living in the time when we can see as much of the universe as it be possible to ever see, but that’s what the numbers show, as things that are now in sight will start moving out of sight soon. That’s coincidental enough to make me suspect some cosmic law there. Sure seems odd.

So if we were to get in a spaceship and go 70.6 km/s, we would never be able to reach something that is a megaparsec from our initial point? Since Voyager is going about 60 times slower than this, does that mean Voyager has no hope of ever going any significant distance relative to the rest of the universe?

@Melthornal We would reach it. Although space is expanding, gravity is much stronger at “close” distances – galaxies are not expanding.

@Melthornal Yes the escape velocity of our own galaxy ( the milky way) is greater than that of the velocity of voyager 1. It will never leave our galaxy.

@zbe8 We can see light from galaxies that are receding faster than light. There is just a time lag (this is because the expansion rate changes over time) the “Hubble distance” will grow and then encompass the photon.

@LarryOfCamalot You wouldn’t be able to see these nebulas, because they are hundrets of lightyears big. You have to know that all these colored pictures you see aren’t made in visible light. They get composed out of images from different wavelengths which then get shifted to a specific color within visible light. (One color often resembles one element like hydrogen or oxygen)

this is my favourite scene as well. i love realism and this is as close as it gets in the film. his frustration reaching a point where all he can say is ‘ARGH’ and punch a wall…its so amazing. theres no witty remark, no dramatic storming out of the apartment…its just him trying to find the words to make sense of a situation and he cant. its also such a pivotal moment for the movie in general. he loves her but its just not enough. just as its not enough later on. such a good movie

This actually looks like mostly views of one of the Hubble Deep Fields, where hours of exposure time was taken on what appeared to be empty sky, revealing hundreds of distant galaxies.

@tgillspy1 I think that you are one of the best troll ever! “The Darwin monkey theory”, if you say monkey theory you probably didn’t understand very well, no one intelligent would accept that but yet the majority of educated people are atheist and the majority of people without study are religious.
