I'm pleased to see Claremont overcoming the slump he's been in for so very long. There's still a bit too much exposition for my liking, but each issue seems to be an improvement on the last from a writing perspective.

I find myself hooked, and I'm not sure why. But this week I was not only eager to read the issue, but upset when I knew it was coming to an end. Hopefully he keeps up the good work, because he's got a winner on his hands.

I generally don't mention the art much any more since it's rarely a selling point to me personally but it did suit the issue well.

I agree that I would rather have had Logan be Kurt's foil, but I can kind of see the point of using Piotr instead. IIRC, Logan was still a bit of a wildcard at this point and not the most likely to be a calming influence or a voice of wisdom. But I wish we could have seen a hint of their friendship, at least.

I liked the issue overall, thanks in no small part to Roger Cruz' art. He really made Kurt come alive.

Wolverine was killed in X-Men Forever Alpha in a couple of page blurb. This issue merely had the after effect of people being knocked out and the Sabretooth attack which is not a lot for a full 22 page comic.

It's just Claremont's style and while I don't mind it his issues often read a little slow. There is so much dialogue and thought bubbles that the plot can take a back seat. Issue three was better and I still am expecting great things from the series. It just had a little slow start after the whirlwind of Alpha.

Are you serious? Nothing happened in this issue?!
*The X-men are all knocked out and no one knows what is wrong with Jean or what she saw
*Storm beats up and blinds Sabertooth
*Wolverine is killed
That's not enough for you? I don't get it...

Nope outside of some pretty nice views on Tyger (once I figured out who she was supposed to be) the whole thing was a huge waste of time. I have yet to bother even having it pulled for me.

It would be nice to have Beast back to more normal. I could even live with him becoming his mostly human looking original self again. The cat Beast is definitely not a favorite.

The story is good I am mostly wondering if they were too ambitious with the project. So much is going on already, plots characters etc, that I don't see how it can do any of them justice. It reads more like 'This is the new status quo, let's get there quick.' But it is still enjoyable I just think they are tackling too much.

I loved this issue. I have no idea why I loved it so much, but everything about it just read true to me. From the actions of the individual mutants to the specific Dark X-Men team choices. They even followed up on Weapon Omega's power source from the recent Marvel Comics Presents series. And hey, Adam-X cameo! I'm sure a lot of people will be happy about that.

The only thing that held this issue back was the art, in my opinion. The Dodsons were definitely off their game. I've seen them draw Venom before in Marvel Knights: Spider-Man, and it looked absolutely nothing like that horse-faced monstrosity they portrayed here.

Not to mention the bizarre goofy grins the entire Dark X-Men team has in that one particular panel. It wasn't a "We're so badass" sort of grin, either. It seemed more like they were on prozac. So all in all, the gripes I have with the art mostly come down to the faces.
