Can anyone please help me understand about “Domain Member”, as I didn’t see any domain member populating on SEC viewer. And about the functionality of the same, is it a technical or SEC requirement?

Interesting, helpful and thoughtful post.

The way I explain an extension taxonomy to clients is that if you change anything in the base or original taxonomy, then the taxonomy is extended.

The focus on the adding of new elements made it easier to placate CFOs who felt that the base taxonomy would constrain their ability to customize their accounts so as to make them less or more comparable with their competitors

At the risk of being seen as pedantic here, I would suggest that instead of saying "the twelve methods of extending the taxonomy" perhaps it would be less frightening for the layperson, such as me, if it read "the twelve most common reasons for extending the taxonomy"

The method is normally the same, fire up the Taxonomy editor tool, or notepad, and just make the changes:)

Using the XBRL Formula Linkbase for Command and Control within the organisation will be the real bonus.

The power of formulas was first seen in the FDIC application but they were proprietary at that time.

Now however the new link base has brought the use of formulas out of the shadows and into the open as shown here:

where in the Bank of Spain:
The taxonomy has more than 3000 business rules modeled as 406 XBRL formulae.
