Great article. Great Photos. I lived in Germany from 2008-2010 and frequently return for visits. I was in Garmisch last summer 2011 for a hiking trip through this gorge. Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful shots of what looks like a very memorable day. Winter hiking doesn’t deter the locals, that’s for sure! One time skiing at Garmisch I landed a couple of nights at Bayernhaus, a beautiful lodge half-way down the mountain. Had the place to myself the first night!

Thanks, Snooker. I agree, I think we did pretty well for an iphone and a point-and-shoot! Wanted to bring the DSLR but were nervous about sledding with it.
