Thanks, Jill! I'm with you: If people had taken responsibility for themselves to dress properly, train properly, and simply get into the correct corral, I think 45% of the race's problems would have been a non-issue.

I'm sure it could be enjoyable at night if simple race etiquette was followed. THANK YOU for at least trying to stay towards the left. :) Yep. The corrals were certainly the beginning of all the problems with the race.

Well written... since I've already vented about a lot of things... I'm going to touch on the weather issue. Why do people dress so inappropriately?! There was a girl on the course, NOT an elite, wearing what essentially amounted to glittery panties. And people in Borat outfits and tank tops, shorts, etc... I'm sure the fact that people didn't do their own responsibility and pay attention to dressing for the conditions also helped to jam up the finish area and increase the medical issues on course. Yes, I fully acknowledge that Competitor had lots of issues that need to be addressed, but participants themselves also caused a lot of issues on course. The whole thing was a mess.

I agree Sara, I enjoyed the experience a lot more last year when it was in the day. I started in Coral 19 because I was with Team Challenge and by the time we started they gave up on starting by Coral which made it a little less fun but also because I was walking with my wife there was no where to go to get out of the way. I tried to get to the right, but runners were passing on the right and even going up on the curb to pass on the right, there was no where to go to get out of the way because there were over 20,000 people behind us with no corraled start. The inside of Mandalay Bay was trashed, even the TC tent was trashed with people not picking up their trash. I hope they do it in the morning next year, it was a lot more enjoyable!
