CKYCR - CENTRAL KYC REGISTRY

CKYCR (Central KYC Registry) is a centralized repository of KYC records of customers in the financial sector. CKYCR will replace the existing multiple KYC submission process while opening savings bank accounts, buying life insurance or investing in mutual fund products into one time centralized process.

The Government of India has authorized the Central Registry of Securitization and Asset Reconstruction and Security interest of India (CERSAI) to manage this Central KYC Registry process. From 1st August, 2016 this new process will be applicable to all individuals.

Salient Features of CKYCR

- It Promotes inter-usability of the KYC records across the sector

- It will reduce burden of getting KYC documents and verification of the same every time

- It is a single form to create or modify CKYC

- It includes the FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act) declaration also. Hence, it avoids you to declare the same at the different level of your investments.

- Three types of accounts have been specified in CKYC.

I. Small Investor - If your aggregate of all credits in a financial year does not exceed Rs. 1,00,000, the aggregate of all withdrawals and transfers in a month does not exceed Rs. 10,000/- or the balance at any point of time does not exceed Rs. 50,000/, then you will be considered as Small account type of investor.

II. Simplified or Low-Risk Customers - Customers who are not able to submit anyone document among 6 listed as Passport, Driving License, PAN, Voter ID, Job Card issued by NREGA or Aadhaar Card.

III. Normal - If you will not fall in above two categories of investors like Small or Simplified i.e. Low-Risk Customers, then you have to mention it as Normal customers.

CERSAI assigns a 14 digit KYC Id to every individual which can be used for KYC authentication for that individual across the financial industry.

How To Check KYC Status

On given link you will get above form to enter PAN and CAPTCHA. Enter PAN and CAPTCHA and click on Search Now. It will display KYC result in tabular format. For newly created Central KYC entry you will get 14 digit CKYC ID.

Some Facts about CKYCR Based on RBI Circulars

- The Government of India vide their Notification dated 26th November 2015 authorised the

Central Registry of Securitisation Asset Reconstruction and Security Interest of India

(CERSAI) to act as and to perform the functions of the Central KYC Records Registry

(CKYCR) including receiving, storing, safeguarding and retrieving the KYC records in

digital form.

- The Central Government has also amended the Prevention of Money Laundering

(Maintenance of Records) Rules, 2005 vide Notification dated 07th July 2015 for the
purpose of establishment of Central KYC Registry (CKYCR).

- As per the Notification of Central Government dated 07th July 2015, Bank shall file
the electronic copy of the client’s KYC records with the Central KYC Registry
(CKYCR) within 3 days from the date of opening of an account.

WHAT IS GSTIN?

Goods and Service Tax (GST) has implemented now w.e.f. 01.7.2017 by the Government of India and State Governments. Under GST, Business entity has to register State wise/Union Territory wise provided that their turnover exceeds Rs 10 lacs in the case of North Eastern States and exceeds Rs 20 lacs in the case of all the other states (Other than Jammu and Kashmir).

GSTIN (Gross and Service Tax Identification Number) is being issued to every Business Entity (Registered Tax Payers) for each GST registration.

Goods and Service Tax Identification Number (GSTIN) is a 15 digit number with the following structure:

1. First 2 digits – State Code

2. Next 10 digits – PAN Number

3. Next 2 digits – Entity / Establishment code

4. Last 1 digit – Check digit

It has been announced that GST (Goods And Service Tax Will be Implemented from 1st July 2017.

Under GST, there will be different rates for Goods and Services as 0%, 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%.

GST is an indirect tax that will replace all earlier taxes like Central Excise Duty, Commercial Tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), Food Tax, Central Sales Tax (CST), Octroi, Entertainment Tax, Entry Tax, Purchase Tax, Luxury Tax, Advertisement tax etc. levied by central and state government. It will be levied on value addition only.

Who Will Provide Platform

A non profit organization "Goods and Services Tax" Network (GSTN) has been formed to create a platform for all the concerned parties i.e. stakeholders, government, taxpayers to collaborate on a single portal.

Central Government - 24.5% of shares

State Government - 24.5%

Private Banking Firms - 51% of Shares

Kind of GST

There will be three kinds of GST -

1. CGST - Revenue will be collected by the central government

2. SGST - Revenue will be collected by the state governments for intra-state sales

3. IGST - Revenue will be collected by the central government for inter-state sales

We can understand use of above three kind of taxes in below two statements -

1. If sale will be done within the state, Revenue will be shared between the Central and the State means CGST and SGST will be applicable.

2. If sale will be done to another state, only one tax will be applicable that is IGST and it will be collected by Central.

A Unique number will be given to all Tax Payers / Business Entity named as GSTIN under GST.

BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) App

BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) is an app launched by NPCI (National Payment Corporation of India), Govt Of India that let us make easy and quick payment transactions using UPI(Unified Payment Interface). It is different from Wallets. It is diretly linked to our bank account and like Wallet there is no need to transfer amount in it before transaction. So, whatever the transaction we do, it directly affects our linked bank account i.e. all debit and credits done directly from Bank account. NPCI do not charge for transation through BHIM however particular bank may charge on using UPI feature. Mobile Banking registration and to make it enable is not required to use BHIM app, only requirement is to register mobile number with bank. Only one bank account can be linked with BHIM. Through this app, we can request also for money. Beautiful feature of this app is to scan the QR Code and make payment to merchants or indivuduals. We can send money through BHIM using IFSC and account number or MMID and Mobile Number to those person also who is not registered on BHIM app. Below transactions can be done using BHIM app -

There are limitation also to make payment through BHIM app. Only 10,000/- can be transferred in single transaction. Maximum limit for single day is 20,000/-.

BHIM application can be used using standard key pad phone also using *99# option.

QR Code is an abbreviation of Quick Response Code. It is a two dimensional bar code that is used as trademark.

It provides easy access to information. Now a days we see this code in newspaper advertisement also that allows to scan through smartphone that directly reads this code and display some encoded information like website address etc.

Apps Used for QR Code Scan or QR Code Generate

We can easily find QR Code reader apps for either Android phone or Apple phone from Google Store and Apple Store. There are many application which is free and there are some paid also.

QR Code Reader, QR Scanner, Quick Scan are the common name those we can find on Android platform as well as Apple store, designed and deployed by many companies or individuals, to read QR Code. Using these apps even Smartphone can be used as QR Scanner Device. Likewise a number of Android and IOS based QR Code Generator App also available that can be used to generate QR Code and can be used to store text, email phone etc.

Minimum and Maximum Limit of Transaction Amount using UPI

UPI is built on the immediate payment service (IMPS) platform and, hence, fund transfer will be possible 24X7. The upper limit of a transaction through the UPI system is Rs.1 lakh. There is no minimum limit, one can transfer even .050 paise. NPCI will earn 25 paise per transaction and the payment service provider will earn 50 paise per transaction.There is no limit on even the number of transactions too.

PAN is our Permanent Account Number that is one of the most important Photo Identification proof as well as mandatory for filing income tax return to Income Tax of India. It has become mandatory in India for any financial transaction like opening a bank account, Opening a Demat Account for trading, Investment in Mutual Fund, Application of any loan etc. It is 10 Digit Alphanumeric. It is unique for each individual and valid for life time once issued. Format of PAN is AAAAA9999A. In which,

- from first to third character is sequence of AAA to ZZZ,

- fourth character denotes type of applicant,

- fifth character depicts the first letter of last name or sir name of applicant,

- from sixth to ninth character is sequence number from 1111 to 9999 and

- last tenth character is check digit.
