HOK for Delhi Airport: Won the design competition

The group HOK, network architects with operational bases throughout the world, won the design competition for the new international terminal of Indira Gandhi International Delhi.

The Commonwealth Games (English Commonwealth Games) are a sporting event held every four years that attracts the best athletes of the nations of the Commonwealth. The first edition, then known as British Empire Games, held in 1930. The name was later changed to British Empire and Commonwealth Games in 1954, in British Commonwealth Games in 1970 and assumed the current name, the Commonwealth Games in 1978.

This event also includes sports that are practiced mainly in Commonwealth countries, such as rugby to 7, netball and lawn bowls. Currently the Commonwealth Games 53 participating nations.

Typically games involved some 5,000 athletes, making this event one of the biggest international events in terms of participants.

The four constituent nations of the United Kingdom --- England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland --- participate in games with teams separated, as well as countries in the crown dependencies, Guernsey, Jersey, Isle of Man and British overseas territories.

A sporting event between all the members of 'the British Empire was first proposed by the Reverend Astley Cooper in 1891 in an article in The Times, suggesting a competition four years to increase the goodwill and understanding among countries of the empire.

In 1911 was held in London on "Festival of Empire" to celebrate the coronation of King George V. As part of the festival were held championships where teams of the countries' British Empire such as Australia, Canada, South Africa and United Kingdom are defied in the disciplines of boxing, wrestling, swimming and athletics.

In 1928 the Canadian Melville Marks Robinson was asked to organize the first British Empire Games, which were held two years later in Hamilton, Canada.
