Charlotte Carter, Lily Bryan, Savanna Asttridge, (OK) Taylor Thorne and sisters Shannon Lesley and Courtney Jones, now patrol the Ivybridge Estate looking for graffiti, broken glass, broken play equipment and other dangerous items before reporting back to Hounslow Homes.

A Hounslow Homes spokeswoman said: "The children are frequent visitors to Hounslow Homes' Langdale Centre, always wanting to help out and clean up their estate.

"They kept asking to do more until one day estate manager,Marion Way, suggested they become 'Junior Rangers'."

The children, all aged between 10 and 14 now report weekly to the Ivybridge team who give them a "to-do list".

The Junior Rangers also think up new ways to get more young people involved in activities and are currently looking for a designated graffiti wall.

Ranger Savanna Asttridge said: "We want to make a difference, we know it will not happen straight away, but slowly people around us will start to see the changes.

Lesley Jones said: "Children from our school always say to us I don't know how you can live there, but for us this is our home, it is all we have ever know.

"We're used to it, but we want to change it."

Hounslow Homes Team Leader Fiona King said: "These kids are all brilliant, the way they are constantly trying to make their world better not only for themselves but for everyone else on the estate."

The junior Rangers are recruiting more members. If you are 12-14 and live on the Ivybridge Estate, look out for Junior Rangers posters or visit the Langdale Centre in Summerwood Road.

A 14-year-old boy who admitted stabbing another teen 6 times has appeared in court again - this time for robbery.

The Chiswick youngster, who can not be named for legal reasons, this week admitted to three counts of robbery with force and possession of an offensive weapon.

In Isleworth Crown Court two weeks ago, the boy admitted causing grievous bodily harm after stabbing a 15-year-old in broad daylight in Isleworth's Redlees Park.

The prosecuting solicitor said: "There appears to be an escalation in the seriousness of the defendant's criminal activities."

Brentford Youth Court heard on Monday how on June 13, the young thug robbed four boys of their phones using a "large kitchen knife" as a threat, only four days before the stabbing.

The four youngsters were walking down Dolman Road, in Chiswick when they heard the defendant approaching them from behind.

The defendant then asked the victims 'what have you got for me then?' before lifting his jumper to show the knife tucked down his trousers.

The youth was also convicted of ABH earlier this year after punching a Mcdonalds worker in the face, causing him to now have a deviated septum.

The Chairing JP said: "Taking into account the defendant's previous offences we have decided it is right to send it to crown court for sentencing.

"The defendant poses a serious risk to the public on the basis of his past offences."
The teen is to appear in Isleworth Crown Court for sentencing on December 11.

Geoff Eades will be charged with careless driving causing death, after falling asleep at the wheel with his granddaughter, cousin and wife in the car, New Brighton police told local newspaper, The Dominion Post.

It reported police will postpone laying charges to give the New Zealand born grandfather time to grieve with his family.

Detective Sergeant Andrew Fabish told the newspaper that Mr Eades has pleaded guilty to the charges.

Mr Eades' wife of 36 years, Sera, 60 and his three-year-old granddaughter Iva, both of Amwell House, The Woodlands, Isleworth, died in the accident on September 16, after he hit a power pylon, whilst the family were in the country visiting a sick relative.

Chris Harrington, communications manager at the British High Commission in New Zealand, said: "The police originally believed it was matter of fatigue.

"If that was the case then it's likely that he would be charged."

Quaker peace workers will be talking about Peace Child International and other projects which attempt to prevent conflict before it happens. These are part of the Quaker run peaceworker scheme to boost organisations working for peace.

Peace Child International works with young people's groups in over 180 countries through peace education initiatives such as musical productions. These encourage action in support of sustainable development and human rights. Quakers, a historic peace church, believe in supporting such groups to show there are ways of reducing tension in the world.

Brentford and Isleworth Quakers are organising the event on Sunday 4th October at 12 noon. It takes place at the Quaker Meeting House, Quakers Lane, London Road, Isleworth TW7 5AZ. Lunch is provided. Tours of the Meeting House, built 1785, and burial ground are available. The event is part of National Quaker Week, a series of open events at Quaker Meeting Houses nationally.

West Thames College opened its Grade II listed Spring Grove House to the public this week as part of London Open House Weekend.

The annual event offers the public free access to buildings of architectural or historical interest across London, with Spring Grove House, formerly Pears House being recognised as a fine example of 18th century architecture.

The building was formally home to the Pears family, of Pears soap fame as well as botanist and explorer Sir Joseph Banks, who travelled the world with Captain Cook on the HMS Endevour and was largely responsible for the development of Kew Gardens.

Christopher Mills, Head of library and Archives at Kew Gardens, was among the visitors on Saturday.

"There was a much greater wealth and variety of architectural details to see than I was expecting," he said.

"It is clearly one of Hounslow's gems and deserves to be more widely seen and known about - as does Sir Joseph's connection with the area."

From 1922, Spring Grove House was in use as Spring Grove Secondary School, later becoming Spring Grove Grammar School in 1946.

After the school moved to Lampton in 1959 the premises were taken over by Isleworth Polytechnic, later to become Hounslow Borough College and finally West Thames College in 1993.
