London. One of the main reasons I came to university. It’s the cultural centre of England attracting people from all over the world like a magnet to get lost in the myriad of attractions it has to offer. There’s so much to do but so very little time to do it in, between studying of course. So, which nights out are worth the long journey back on the night bus, the tube fair, the effort it takes to get everybody out of their rooms? I intend to find out and, don't worry, I won’t be paid for promoting any venues, this is a genuine opinion from a real student. Therefore, without further ado, I give you...

Fabric nightclub, London.

With three main rooms, bars, a couched seating area and an atmosphere that will tingle the senses of even the least musically orientated among us, Fabric is most definitely worthy of both your time and money. With a capacity of three thousand, you’re pretty much guaranteed to see each of the rooms fully packed out with a highly diverse crowd; not surprising, as its infamy now gathers together some of the best DJs in all types of genres, from drum n bass and dubstep to hip-hop and dance, the list goes on.

Wander around any of the dance-floors and you’ll find men clinging to the cage that surrounds the DJ, grinding with the wall. Others in their own zone rock side to side in time with the music, eyes closed, arms flailing (these are the ones you particularly want to watch out for as they will have your eye out).

The descent into any of the three rooms completely removes you from the outside and into a place where the DJ rules. Smoke machines, a giant disco ball and some serious laser lighting all add to the sense of this being almost other-worldly, escapism in its purest form. It’s all about the music here (partially because socialising isn’t really an option; the music is so loud it literally vibrates through your chest, adding another dimension to experience).

Tickets start at ten pounds, but they’re well worth that little sliver of your overdraft.

To conclude, go to Fabric, it will blow your mind.

Chicago native Kid Sister has let the polish on her French tips dry and is back with a brand new single ‘Right Hand Hi’ set for release through Asylum Records on 30th November.

A 3 minute rave-pop blast that tears its way out of the stereo, ‘Right Hand Hi’ features the staccato beats and inventive production of Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso (aka the Swedish House Mafia).

‘Right Hand Hi’ is the first single to be taken from Kid Sister's debut album ‘Ultraviolet’ one of the most exciting albums of next year.

Kid Sister - aka Melisa Young - exploded last year with the genius ‘Pro Nails’ featuring Kanye West, and an appearance on Count & Sinden’s ‘Beeper’. Since then she's been recording her album with the world’s finest electronic producers.

Simply put, ‘Ultraviolet’ is incredible. Blending Hip-hop, ghetto house and electro pop, it’s a melting pot of ideas and styles that makes it one of the most original pop albums in years. Set for release in early 2010.

Moshi Moshi records are no stranger to finding a killer single - Florence and the Machine’s “Kiss With A Fist”, Late of the Pier's "Bathroom Gurgle", Lykki Li’s “Little Bit”, and Friendly Fire's "Paris". This time they bring Manchester born, London based Janee Bannett to the fore.

Some might know her previous work already – originally discovered by Roll Deep who asked her to vocal on their single Do Me Wrong, and gaining copious nods of appreciation on the blogs - 22 year old Janee might just be the UK’s answer to a young Beyonce. All dazzling 6ft of her.

East Londoner Bless Beats is something of a beats prodigy – having acquired mass recognition from his home crowd for his insanely popular grime productions, 21 year old Bless has bigger ideas and is currently attracting musical talent of all walks to work with him on his debut album due out autumn 2009. Remi Nicole, Wiley, Tinchy Stryder, Chipmunk, Ironic, Sabrina Washington, Alesha Dixon have all passed his east London studio for sessions, but it’s Janee Bennett he’s most excited about:

“There are lots of female vocalists out there, many of which come and go, but Janee is an artist as well as a songwriter. Her presence in the studio is always felt - and you know she can take any tune and make it work. She’s very special and I love working with her"

Pop siren Janee who’s set for big things this year sings about life in the city of London:

“Being born and Bred in Manchester, on my arrival to London I soon realised that life here is very different. London is the place to be and where everything is going on but its very expensive to live. So in the song I describe having to work to make money and then needing to have some fun outside of work "Sex In The City". Sex in the city doesn't necessarily mean having "sex", it can mean anything, to unwind and have fun! We ALL need sex in the city…” Janee Bennett

Indeed. Now we simply await a ray of summer sunshine and the Sex in the City club hysteria will ensue…

Unique album streaming launches today // Album Out Now!
To celebrate the release of their third studio album, ‘In This Light And On This Evening’ this week, Editors have created a unique listening experience for their new album by appearing to 'hack' Google Street View.

The experience allows fans to use a version of Google Maps on the Editors website to travel to certain areas of London where the band have hacked in their own custom locations. The new additions consist of some gloriously moody 360 degree images, shot at night. Within each location the user will hear a track from the new album, which was inspired by the mood and magic of London at night.. The images feature the band and a group of their fans performing surreal activities which reportedly have hidden meanings relating to the songs.

The locations are normally unavailable on the regular Street View. Editors modified version of Google Maps allows users to enter into these locations and make the transition from light to dark so fans can explore the band's atmospheric vision of London at night. To access the Map go to :
http://www.editorsofficial.com/streetview
‘In This Light And On This Evening’ is the follow up to Editors UK Number One album ‘An End Has A Start’. Embracing synthesisers for the album, the band were heavily influenced by the soundtracks to Terminator and Bladerunner in the early recording period whilst lyrically Tom Smith drew heavily on his new found appreciation of his ‘adopted home town’ of London for the stories that weave throughout the record. From the opening track, which also became the album title, referencing a view from Primrose Hill at dusk, through ‘The Boxer’ telling of the Friday night disturbances of London’s pub culture to the brutal imagery of a carnivorous House Of Commons on ‘Eat Raw Meat = Blood Drool’, the locations of London and its people are at the heart of the record

TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB's rhythmic alt-pop draws on electronica, rock and Afro-beats and fizzes with invention and sparkling tunes… Their limited edition debut single – 'Something Good Can Work' released earlier this year, was bursting with hooks and a bona fide pop melody that bounces, swings AND rocks, sounding jittery, dreamy and urgent.

Snapped up by Kitsuné following their performance at Glastonbury Festival this year, TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB are a band on the rise. They release their first single for Kitsuné – 'I Can Talk' – on 16th November… Another deliriously catchy gem, the single will be released in both 7” and 12” formats and comes backed by a number of remixes by the likes of Crystal Fighters, Golden Bug and French Horn Rebellion.

The October shows kick-off with a night of feel-good music to lift the spirits, lead by Londoners Citadels who will test out their psychedelic synth-pop on the culture hungry revellers of East London. Also on the bill, Young Rebel Set; a band causing a stir among their local scene in the North East, and synth-poppers Turboweekend, over from Copenhagen.

The third October Residency held at The Borderline on 22nd October, sees joint headliners Kurran and the Wolfnotes and Exlovers strut their stuff at what is expected to be an oversubscribed show. Both bands are currently being produced by the legendary Stephen Street, of The Smiths and Blur fame, and both also share a penchant for a gypsy, indie-folk sound, and close girl-boy vocals.
In absence of a real video director and any funding, Your Twenties frontman Gabriel Stebbing decided to take matters into his own hands and release a DIY ‘vlog’ for his band’s forthcoming Billionaires single.

Debut single Caught Wheel was released in November last year and quickly became a late contender for single of the year; Your Twenties’ next offering Billionaires is no different. To be released on Neon Gold Records (Passion Pit, Marina & the Diamond and Wolf Gang) on September 7th, Billionaires will be available as a limited 7” single featuring artwork done by the band themselves.

Billionaires is produced by the legendary Stephen Street (The Smiths, Blur) and with the swooping, sunshine harmonies, big, driving guitars and catchy “ooh-ooh-ooh” chorus, it manages to sound like perfect West Coast pop whilst still quintessentially British. This is the feel good anthem of the year, so head out into the sunshine to enjoy this gold-nugget of breezy indie pop.

Originally, the bassist & keyboardist in Metronomy, frontman Gabriel Stebbing recently left to concentrate on Your Twenties full time. It was an a amicable split with Joseph Mount from Metronomy heading into the studio with the band in late July to produce their first album tracks.

Your Twenties have recently played in Paris for Durrr (the club night where they played their debut gig back in February 2008) and with inspiration coming from Elastica to picture-postcard days out, Your Twenties are definitely ones to keep your eye on.

Next UK show:

Saturday 12th September – Scandalism @ Scala, London

Your Twenties are:
James Hoare - BVs/Guitar
The complete list of venues includes the legendary 100 Club, Bar Rumba, Fopp, Heaven, HMV, ICA,
Leicester Square Theatre, Madame JoJo’s, Orchid, Punk, Sound, Borderline and The Fly.

As well as these venues, there will be more entertainment happening in and around Soho including pop up gigs taking place at Sister Ray Records on Berwick Street, the backdrop to Oasis’s ‘What’s The Story (Morning Glory)’ album cover.
thelondonpaper, the capital’s most widely distributed free paper, believes that at a time when leading Soho music venues are closing down, this event will reignite the music scene in the area with two days of noise, fun and talent. The sonic experience will showcase the diversity of London’s broad music culture, featuring the best in pop, alternative, dance and more, performed across venues that lie on many Londoners’ doorsteps, some of which are rarely used for live music performance.

It will also be a reminder of just how many vibrant live music venues do actually operate in this location.
The Levi’s® OnesToWatch® London Residencies roll back into town this September promising a kaleidoscopic ensemble of new musical gems cutting their teeth on the live scene.

The September shows kick off at The Macbeth in Shoreditch with a much anticipated headline show from Brooklyn’s Bear Hands, who have recently been sharing the stage on tour with Passion Pit and Hockey. This will be their first headline tour following the release of their limited edition 7” single in March, ‘What a drag’. They have received extended play on Radio 1 and 6, and are creating a lot of hype - this show is expected to sell out fast. Support comes from Swimming and The Antlers.

The following week sees Your Twenties top the bill at The Borderline, bringing a summer vibe to Soho with their upbeat, keys-driven pop. They are currently writing their debut album, with Metronomy’s Joseph Mount producing several tracks. Also on the bill are The Brute Chorus (who will be celebrating the lead singers 30th birthday on the night) and The Bridport Dagger.

September is rounded off with what promises to be a unique party performance from Hammersmith rapper Example, who will roll out his dysfunctional electro pop to the Camden Barfly. The same week as this gig sees the release of his latest single ‘Watch The Sun Come Up’ on Data Records. Completing the line-up are Milke and A Genuine Freakshow.

These three dates follow July’s massive Levi’s® OnesToWatch® 5 Night Revue with sell-out shows from Hockey, Passion Pit, Dananananakroyd and Everything Everything, plus a secret show from Friendly Fires on the roof of Shoreditch House.
Band Info

Bear Hands
Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Bear Hands toured earlier this year with Hockey and Passion Pit, and their UK tour this month will be their first headline tour. Characterised by a driving beat and rhythm percussion, married with thoughtful and contemplative lyrics, their addictive sound has lead them to be named by Alternative Press as one of the top 100 bands of 2008. The band has shared the stage with the likes of MGMT and Vampire Weekend, and have enjoyed extensive radio play on Radio 1 and BBC 6. Their single What A Drag was released on Too Pure in March.

Your Twenties
Formed by Metronomy’s Gabriel Stebbing, Your Twenties burst onto the scene in late 2008, with their breezy, upbeat, keys-driven pop.
Their second single, Billionaires, produced by Stephen Street (Blur, The Smiths) has been hailed as the perfect summer soundtrack, and will be released in early September on Neon Gold Records. Joseph Mount of Metronomy is currently producing several tracks for their debut album.

Example
Hammersmith born rapper Example entered his first rap battle at the age of 15, and in 2006 was signed to Mike Skinners label, The Beats. Soon after, he put out a response to Lily Allen’s Smile, entitled ‘Vile’ and received radio play on Pete Tong and Zane Lowe’s radio 1 shows. Example describes his music as dysfunctional electro pop, and he releases his latest single “Watch The Sun Come Up”, produced by Metrophonic (the production team headed up by Brian Rawlings) the week of his Levi’s OnesToWatch gig on Data Records (Ministry of Sound).

Swimming
Following appearances at Lovebox festival, Dot To Dot festival, and support slots with Chairlift, Pivot and Shearwater, the Nottingham quintet self-released their debut album ‘Fireflow Trade’ in June. Their sound is an artful blend of the power and energy of The Pixies, and the ambient soundscapes of Boards Of Canada. Drummer Pete occasionally adds his own brand of beat boxing, or “Pete Boxing” to their live acoustic sessions.
www.myspace.com/swimmingband

The Brute Chorus
The Brute Chorus’s unusual blend of old-style blues and folk has impressed the likes of Zane Lowe, Steve Lamacq and Mark Radcliffe, securing them a significant amount of airplay. Their eponymous debut album, due for release in mid October, was recorded live, in one take, in front of 300 fans at the Roundhouse earlier this year. The album will be preceded by the release of their single “Send Me A Message” in early October. Victor Van Vugt (Nick Cave,PJ Harvey) is currently mixing the album in New York.
Their Levi’s OnesToWatch show coincides with singer James Steel’s 30th birthday, so The Macbeth show promises to have a celebratory vibe, both on and off stage.
www.myspace.com/thebrutechorus

Milke
A radio friendly synth pop duo from London, Milke write immediate, sophisticated pop songs, inspired by Soulwax production, the Eurythmics, Talking Heads, and Prince. Named as The Guardian’s “band of The Day” in January this year following the release of their single “Love Get Out Of My Way”, the band have also garnered support from the likes of Artrocker, The Fly, Mixmag and Radio 1.
www.myspace.com/milketheband

The Antlers
Brooklyn trio Antlers will rerelease their LP “Hospice” this month on Frenchkiss Records. The album comprises 10 distinct chapters full of contrasting shards of ambient noise, sweeping strings and smoky horns, and has been acclaimed by Time Out New York as “truly heartwrenching”, and by Tiny Mix Tapes as “a work of rare beauty”.
www.myspace.com/theantlers

The Bridport Dagger
East London’s own baseless, flamencobilly/ garage-folk trio, specialise in short, echo-y blasts of glorious noise, and cite their influences as The Cramps, Wire and Roy Orbison. Their new, limited edition 7” single “Slipped Disco” is released on Death Records this August
www.myspace.com/thebridportdagger

A Genuine Freakshow
Influenced by Elbow, Radiohead and Sigur Ros, A Genuine Freakshow are a seven piece based across Bristol, Oxford and Reading and London. Lush orchestral arrangements, including cello, violin, and trumpet, underpin the sincere falsetto vocals of front-man Timothy Sutcliffe. 2008 saw the band release two singles, leading to air play on BBC 6 ‘Introducing’ and Steve Lamacq on Radio 2. Their debut album “’Oftentimes’ is due for release in late Autumn.
TOUR FEATURING FULL BAND CONFIRMED FOR NOVEMBER.

New Model Army are a legendary global underground cult band. Formed by Justin Sullivan in Bradford in 1980, their beginnings were inspired by Punk Rock, Northern Soul and the incendiary atmosphere of the times. Since then, they have had a long, creative and eventful journey. They have been massively influential in ‘post-punk’, ‘folk-rock’, ‘politico-rock’, ‘goth’, ‘metal’ and all kinds of musical sub-cultures but have successfully resisted belonging to any of these categories or genres. After nearly thirty years, they have never lost the ability to change, to thrill or to challenge and they remain central to the lives of thousands of fans from all walks of life spread across the world.

A breakthrough appearance on live music TV show ‘The Tube’ was followed by a No.1 independent album, two major record deals, top 40 singles, a controversial live performance on Top Of The Pops, countless festival appearances and thousands of enthralling live performances. Never afraid to experiment and never concerned by the fripperies of modern media New Model Army have carved a successful curve around the music industry norm. Having grasped early on that the Internet was going to revolutionise music, from the mid 1990s they set out on the now-fashionable wholly independent path, controlling all aspects of their output. As a result they have been perfectly placed to withstand the changes in the industry and have outlasted most of their peers. There are very few older bands in NMA’s position of still being able to record and release what they like, when they like, maintaining, and in recent years increasing, a worldwide following, without making a single compromise.

In September this year they will release their eleventh studio album entitled 'Today Is A Good Day'. Mostly written last autumn in the wake of the Wall Street Collapse (an event celebrated in the white-hot opening title track), the recording was postponed by the sudden and unexpected death at Christmas of Tommy Tee, the band's long-time friend and manager. However, with another long-time friend Chris Kimsey (notable for his work with the Rolling Stones, Jimmy Cliff, Killing Joke and countless others), at the controls, the album is now finished - once again filled with unclassifiable music and challenging lyrical ideas.

The album tour will begin with a month in North America (where the band have an eventful history), continue through Europe until Christmas and on into spring 2010.

Originally formed as a three piece, the current five piece line up features, along-side Sullivan on vocals & guitar, Michael Dean on drums, Nelson on bass, Dean White on keyboards and Marshall Gill on lead guitar. This is a remarkable band - as hungry and focussed as ever, with a continually regenerating audience and insatiable creative ambition.

The band will be doing a UK tour in November:
25 November, Cambridge Junction
26 November, Brighton Concorde 2
27 November, Birmingham Academy
28 November, Manchester Academy
29 November, Glasgow Cat House
Twisted have earned the reputation as Bristol’s only original no-nonsense, hard rock band and have built a dedicated following of loyal fans. Packing live performances in front of their famous wall of Marshall amps, Twisted are the ultimate in hard rock, and not just because of the buzz you take away from every gig. With too many influences to mention, Twisted are backed up with years of experience and provide an exciting new perspective to live music. Combining a tight mix of anthemic vocals, powerhouse drumming, thundering bass tones and the apocalyptic riffs. Aggression, beauty and yet a distinct commerciality have placed Twisted in a new and exciting niche in the constant changing world of music. With frequent airplay and high profile support to legendary rock bands will no doubt soon be replaced with bands own well deserved headline status. Despite their achievements, Twisted remain modest allowing their music to do the talking exuding their obvious love for their own style of hard hitting rock which should not be missed.
TWISTED have recently recorded a Live Sessions demo at Bink Bonk studios in Bristol. You can hear 4 of their tracks at their offical website
Polarbear – Poetry Arena - Birmingham/London (Kentish Town)
1. Who are you most looking forward to seeing at this year’s Latitude festival across the Arenas (Obelisk, Uncut, Comedy, Theatre, Literary and Poetry, Film & Music) and why?
Bat for Lashes in the uncut arena will be nice to check out. Saw her on telly the other night and really liked it. Grace Jones is nuts so if I'm in the mood I'll be checking her out.
Sean Lock always makes me laugh so time permitting I'll be watching him be funny and apart from that I'll just probably wander and hope to drop on something I've never even heard and love it.

2. What aspect of Latitude Festival interests you the most and why?
I haven't been for a couple of years but what I remember from last time was the feeling of actually relaxing. A lot of the festivals are like mental towns that you go to and have to be on it full time and you don't really get a second unless you're off your face. I can do that at home tell you the truth so I'm looking forward to taking it easy.
Be good to see how it's grown since I came last too.

3. What can people expect you to bring to the festival and do you have anything special planned?
I'll be bringing some brummie story talking on Friday night in the Poetry arena. I'll be sharing a new piece that I think is special, but I'll leave that up to the people.

4. If you weren't doing this what would you be doing?
Watching films with my family.

5. What do you always bring to a festival?
A short fuse.

6. Have you been to Latitude before, and if so, what has your favourite performance been?
Saul Willaims in the poetry tent a few years back was pretty nice. John Berkavitch smashed it too. Didn't get to see much that year. Was busy making friends and being silly.

7. Do you have any festival tips for those in attendance at Latitude?
Don't try and see too much. Give an arena a chance. Like an album, let something you're maybe not feeling as much set you up for the next track and you'll enjoy it more.
Oh, and don't drink cider, pass out and get funny shaped sunburn on your face

8. What is your favourite colour Sheep?
I'm a traditionalist so I gotta say original dirty white. Like school mashed potato.

Ed Byrne – Comedy Arena - Dublin
1. Who are you most looking forward to seeing at this year’s Latitude festival across the Arenas (Obelisk, Uncut, Comedy, Theatre, Literary and Poetry, Film & Music) and why?
Janeane Garofalo is playing the comedy stage this year which is quite a big deal. I've seen her perform in Canada and the US and I'm looking forward to seeing her do her thing in front of a British audience.

2. What aspect of Latitude Festival interests you the most and why?
I've not been to Latitude before but the one thing I'm told about it that I'm looking forward to is the fact that the noise from the other stages doesn't drown out what's going on in the comedy tent like it does at other festivals.

3. What can people expect you to bring to the festival and do you have anything special planned?
Nothing special. Just my usual brand yarn spinning and contrariness.

4. If you weren't doing this what would you be doing?
Hill-walking in Scotland. I had intended to spend most of this Summer in the Highlands but it's looking increasingly like life is going to get in the way.

5. What do you always bring to a festival?
A good head torch. I think I'm more into the camping and outdoors paraphernalia that go along with the festival experience than most others are. I'll be bringing an excellent all weather tent complete with wood burning stove and camp cooking utensils. The most useful thing to bring is a head torch. People will make jokes about going down mines but they will also envy your ability to navigate in the dark with your hands free.

6. Have you been to Latitude before, and if so, what has your favourite performance been?
Not been. For shame!

7. Do you have any festival tips for those in attendance at Latitude?
Once again, HEAD TORCH!

8. What is your favourite colour Sheep?
My father in law is a sheep farmer so I'm going to go with the off-white of a Blue Faced Leicester.

The Mummers , Alastair – Uncut Arena - Brighton
1. Who are you most looking forward to seeing at this year’s Latitude festival across the Arenas (Obelisk, Uncut, Comedy, Theatre, Literary and Poetry, Film & Music) and why?
I never got to see Sigur Ros live so am really looking forward to them at last, also Nick Cave, Passion Pit because we've done a Mummers mash-up of one of their songs, Ladyhawke, Bat for Lashes.. oh and of course Grace Jones

2. What aspect of Latitude Festival interests you the most and why?
I like the broadness of it - its small but perfectly formed!

3. What can people expect you to bring to the festival and do you have anything special planned?
We will be bringing a few wild animals (leashed) to perform with us, and hopefully a new song as we are attempting to do a new one for each festival.

4. If you weren't doing this what would you be doing?
Making the tea, chasing violinists, trying to mix madrigals with marching bands

5. What do you always bring to a festival?
High-heeled platform boots, my VW Campervan

6. Have you been to Latitude before, and if so, what has your favourite performance been?
Unfortunately no

7. Do you have any festival tips for those in attendance at Latitude?
Let yourself wander into places you normally wouldnt go in, u might get a surprising treat

8. What is your favourite colour Sheep?
I once saw a green one, but that was after 4 days at Glastonbury.

Maps, James Chapman – The Lake Stage - Northampton
1. Who are you most looking forward to seeing at this year’s Latitude festival across the Arenas (Obelisk, Uncut, Comedy, Theatre, Literary and Poetry, Film & Music) and why?
There's lots I wanna see. Bombay Bicycle Club is one of them. I'm doing a remix right now and I love the song. Really wanna check them out live.

2. What aspect of Latitude Festival interests you the most and why?
Many aspects really. The atmosphere is great, very relaxed. It's just about the right size too, you can walk from stage to stage easily browsing bands and acts, which is hard when festivals are too big. It's just a really cool set-up.

3. What can people expect you to bring to the festival and do you have anything special planned?
Yep. It'll be special. Myself and August are in the Maps Lab right now concocting our plot. We wanna make people move, both physically and emotionally. It's gonna be a blast.

4. If you weren't doing this what would you be doing?
Playing with my new drum machine.

5. What do you always bring to a festival?
Condoms. Not that they ever get used :) .

6. Have you been to Latitude before, and if so, what has your favourite performance been?
Yes, I played back in 2007. It was amazing! But, to be honest, 2007 was a very messy year for me. I can't quite remember who I saw. I remember dancing in a forest til 8am though. Or maybe that was a dream. It was great though!!

7. Do you have any festival tips for those in attendance at Latitude?
Come and see Maps!!

8. What is your favourite colour Sheep?
Blue or purple. I really can't make a decision over those two colours. Maybe half blue, half purple? That'd look good :) .

Martin Figura – Norwich – Poetry Arena
1. Who are you most looking forward to seeing at this year's Latitude festival across the Arenas (Obelisk, Uncut, Comedy, Theatre, Literary and Poetry, Film & Music) and why?
Will be worming my way to the front for Nick Cave again – Grinderman was amazing last year

2. What aspect of Latitude Festival interests you the most and why?
The poetry arena is where I relax and the music is where I wear myself out. Also wandering in the woods and being surprised by all sorts of stuff.

3. What can people expect you to bring to the festival and do you have anything special planned?
I’ve two sets, first to be out and out established funny stuff and second some more serious new stuff – but new funny stuff too that I’ve been writing of late.

4. If you weren't doing this what would you be doing?
I’m doing this on a break from writing up my introductions for the Café Writers (event I’m hosting on Sunday with Paul Farley (also at Latitude), Mark Cocker, Katrina Porteous and Matt Merritt.

5. What do you always bring to a festival?
A relaxed attitude to personal hygiene.

6. Have you been to Latitude before, and if so, what has your favourite performance been?
Twice – Nick Cave’s Grinderman right up there in my top ten best gigs ever.

7. Do you have any festival tips for those in attendance at Latitude?
Go to the poetry arena. Read poetry.

8. What is your favourite colour Sheep?
The green one with the funny eye.
