PEMODA Announces 10th May for Tutong Expedition

Tutong - PEMODA announces 10^th May for Tutong Expedition in a bid to promote tourism in the country.

PEMODA President Hj Maidin Momin said that initially the date set for the Tutong Expedition was on 17^th May, however due to some unforeseen circumstances the date has been moved to Sunday 10^th May.

He had also said that the expedition is for PEMODA members only where it is also part of the PEMODA focus of events in the PEMODA calendar and that the event was to attract members to be actively participating in PEMODA activities.

PEMODA members will be able to appreciate the beauty of Tutong, as well as to enhance their knowledge on their own country’s cultural heritage by getting to know the people of Tutong especially those who lives in the interior parts of Tutong.

Tutong district is rich in cultural and tradition heritage, where most of the community of Tutong, still holds their own cultural and traditional identity dearly. By holding the expedition in Tutong, it will give an opportunity for PEMODA members to learn about Tutong’s own unique heritage and culture.

He also said that the expedition ride will also give the opportunity to promote road safety amongst the members especially riding in a convoy, and abiding Brunei’s road safety laws and regulations.

Labuan - Biking is all about the hobby and the love of motorcycles. Like most hobbies, there must be a way to express the love for them with other people. Sharing this love of hobbies will attract other enthusiasts to that hobby.

When there are so many people who loves that hobby, an association is formed. PEMODA (Darussalam Motorcycle Association) is such an association who has managed to attract bike enthusiasts from all walks of life.

In an expression of love and dedication to the hobby of biking, tours and expeditions are organised so that members new and old are able to share their love for bikes and experience a ride that creates a bond between the bikers.

PEMODA’s 5 day tour to Labuan and Kota-Kinabalu was one of the first trips outside the country organised this year, and it has not only manage to create a bond between the members but also between other biker association as well as the local community.

Riding for an exhausting 9 hours over a riding distance of only 275 on land the PEMODA group of 16 bikes and two back up cars arrived at their destination in Labauan.

“The trip has taken that long because of the many stops that we had to make. There are 6 immigration and customs check point that we have to go through from leaving the Kuala Lurah Immigration Control Post, we stopped for an hour for lunch, and we had to wait board for the ferry to Labuan for an hour. The ferry takes two hours to arrive in Labuan from Menumbok. That’s why the trip took so long,” said Hj Azri bin Hj Ibrahim a new edition to the PEMODA family.

He along with Pg Kamarul Zaman are new members who has never experienced a biking tour in an association. They had both commented that the discipline of riding in a convoy in an assocaiation as well as the safety protocols is very much a top concern. Not to mention that the road laws and regulations are also regarded highly in the top priority list in association.

They had also mentioned that since they are new members of the PEMODA association they are able to observe the procedures that the association follow, and are both impressed with the organisation as well as the well rounded preparations that they had made for the tour.

“What impressed me was the comradeship that develops on the tour itself. The members are very open and friendly, its easy to develop a friendship with them in a short amount of time. They’re also very concerned with the well being of each members and their safety and comfort the highest regard,” said Pg Kamarul Zaman.

In Labuan, in promoting friendship through the PEMODA also arranged a paintball game with Labuan bikers, in particular members of the LA Riders, where PEMODA members pitted their skills against the more experienced LA Riders team.

Playing a home field advantage, the LA Riders were seen to be a more dominate force, however PEMODA team’s determination had managed to win them a game. In the end it was a draw between the two teams.

Reaching out to the community of Labuan, PEMODA also arrange a futsal match with one of the local Labuan teams. The experience was both fulfilling an worthwhile because members of PEMODA had not only were able to foster a closer relation with other biker community but also the community at large, promoting a goodwill and friendship to those around them.

LA Riders cruise QCB bike show

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - Members of LA Riders from Labuan, paid a short visit to view the Custom bike show that was held at the Piasza of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex.

They did not stay long in Brunei, just for the day. A stop at the Harley Davidson shop mid afternoon before lunch, and possible a 5 min walk around the custom bike show at Yayasan before having a drink a the local KFC.

They had to rush over back to catch the ferry at 430. However most of the members of the LA riders who had arrived in Brunei today were new members, and had not yet fully enjoyed the legendary Brunei bikers welcome.

Only Freddy from PEMODA was kind enough to entertain them during their stay here, as their visit here was ad hoc, and most of the bikers that they contacted were at work.

Well we'll be visiting them on the 23rd this month, so hopefully they'll be able to show us some of their hosptiatlity :)

PEMODA Explores Tutong

In a bid to promote tourism with Brunei Darussalam, the Darussalam Motorcycle Association (PEMODA) announced that the association will be proposing to hold an expedition to showcase Tutong district as a tourism destination.

The Chairperson for the event, PEMODA District working committee member Zunaidi Hj Lani, said that the reason why the districit of Tutong is chosen was because we hardly explore the interior of Tutong District, and it is ashamed because the Tutong district interior is beautiful, and we hardly enjoy the beauty as we usually bypass the Tutong interior on the highway.

The proposed date for the Tutong expedition is on the 17th May, where it is part of the focus of events on the PEMODA calendar for 2009-2010.

HOG Brunei Chapter goes to Phuket Bike Week

7 members of the Harley Owners Group Brunei Chapter (H.O.G) are embarking on a historic journey to join the Annual Phuket Bike week in Phuket Thailand.

This is the second such group making the journey to Phuket to join the Phuke Bike Week festival. Last year 5 members of the Darussalam Motorcycle Darussalam (PEMODA) joined the festival, the first motorcycle association to make such journey paving the way for other biker associations to follow suit.

The group led by HOG Brunei Chapter’s Activities Officer, Hj Malik Hamdan will be staying in Phuket from the 9^th until 14^th April 2009 to join in the festival in Thailand

Over 5000 bikers from all over the world are expected to turn up for the Bike Festival in Phuket where the event is held annual on the 10-12 April, in conjunction with Thailand’s Songkran Festival. This is the 15^th year that Phuket has held bike festival without fail, and without fail, as one of the main tourist attraction date in the tourism calendar.

The Phuket Bike Week is one of the biggest bike festivals in South East Asia, where bikers from all over the world will converge in the little island paradise. Usually there are hardly any room for the usual tourist, as this time the venue will be filled with bikers occupying most of the hotels in Phuket.

Last Year myself, Hj Bakar, Jimi Dok Dok, Hj Mike, Ustad Hj Jeff and Uwa joined the Phuket Bike Week Festival representing PEMODA. It was a blast! We rented small scooters and buzzed around Phuket. During the festival the city never sleeps. (So it seems). We were out at three in the morning at the beach, and it was still full of people ACDC was playing on stage, its no wonder that at 3am it was still lively.

There were plenty of drunk tourist there, some didn't even make it back to the hotel, and had to sleep on the curb or on the beach itself. Made friends with some fat hairy tattooed guy who owns a tattoo parlour on the strip. Gimi got one of those washed out tattoos, that lasted for an hour. pleanty of stories and expereinces to share maybe for another time. in the meantime, let the HOG boys have their fun in phuket

We'll just have to wait for the stories the HOG guys bring in when they come back

BINTULU BIKE FESTIVAL

The President of Darussalam Motorcycle Association, PEMODA, Hj Maidin Momin had met with Bintulu Biker Club President, Ahmad Lato di Bintulu, Sarawak. The meeting was the first meeting between the two presidents.

During the meeting the Hj Maidin had discussed the PEMODA’s activities and events for the year of 2009 and 2010, where members of the Bintulu Biekrs were invited to join in the events organised by PEMODA.

Meanwhile the Bintulu Presedient, Ahmad Lato had invited PEMODA presdinet and members on upcoming activity of the newly formed Bintulu Bikers club, where on 10th – 12th April Bintulu Bikers Club will be holding a Bintulu Bike Fest, where bikers from all over Borneo will be invited to join in the first ever activity for the Bintulu Bikers Club.

With regards to this matter PEMODA has set up a working committee regarding PEMDOA members who wish to join the Bintulu bike fest, where Pg Hj Ariffin and Zul Venture had been appointed to help organise the logistics for the event.

Kuching - The Yamaha Kuching expedition tour ended in a good note as participants not only gained experienced in riding but also gained friends from across the border in a short amount of time.

The Yamaha Kuching expedition crossed several states and cities of Sarawak, Miri, Bintulu, Sibu, Sri Aman, Serikei and finally Kuching. Covering a total distance of over 2000 kilometers participants of the tour not only enjoyed a road trip where they had experienced the elements around them but also the sights and sounds of each meter of the road they travelled on.

“The trip to me was a great bounty, not only did we gain riding experience, but also riding knowledge and most of all we gained friends from across the boarder who share our love for motorcycle. It was surprising that the short time we spent together on the road we had form a strong bond of brotherhood,” said a participant.

Most of the participants expressed their sincerest appreciation to BM Supply Motors Sdn Bhd for making it possible for them to experience a tour that is not only enjoyable and well organised, but was also very beneficial for all the participants involved, including those who has never ridden in a convoy let alone participated in a tour.

The tour’s objectives are a show of gratitude for BM Supply Motors clients who has supported the company all these years, and to provide bike enthusiasts an experience to remember by organising a bike tour to destinations in Borneo.

PEMODA united in celebrating 13 year anniversary

JERUDONG - With the slogan “BERSEPADU” (United) the Darussalam Motorcycle Association kicked off its thirteen Years celebration. United we stand, that was the message given to the members of PEMODA who had attended last night’s 13 year anniversary celebration held at the Jeruton Hotel in Jerudong.

Without the support and dedication of tis members an association will never develop nor will it stand the test of time. PEMODA’s 13 years anniversary is a testament of the support and dedication of its members through out the years.

The President of PEMODA, Hj Maidin Mumin had stated this during the welcoming speech of the anniversary celebration. He said that it was due to the members that PEMODA’s foundations are strong if not stronger due to the members support and the pioneers vision of uniting motorcycle enthusiasts throughout the country to unite under one banner, one association, PEMODA.

Meanwhile PEMODA had presented special appreciation awards to the pioneers, ex Presidents, ex Executive Working committees and members who has placed PEMODA on the map.

The President of PEMODA Hj Maidin Mumin had presented special recognition awards to Abd Latiff bin Jamil, Shahminan bin Hj Besar and Hj Saban bin Johari, the pioneers of PEMODA, who without their vision and dedication all those years ago PEMODA would never have existed. While Major (B) Hj Mohd Daud bin Jamil, Musa bin Mahadi and Hj Abu Bakar bin Hj Arshad, the ex presidents of PEMODA had also received a special recognition award, for without their leadership PEMODA would not be a 500 member strong association it is today.

PEMODA had also recognised and presented awards to the hard working members of the previous Executive Committee members of 2006-2008 and members who has worked hard in the name of PEMODA to put PEMODA on the map with their dedication and activities, throughout the years.

Fostering Brotherhood through love of bikes

KUCHING SARAWAK - One of the aspect of riding in an expedition is the comradeship that can be gained for such a tour. This type of comradeship in a way far exceeds any other bond once it has been fostered. This is not only through the love of bikes or the biking hobby but through the experience of riding on a journey together with fellow bike enthusiasts.

This is one of the main aims of the Yamaha Tour to Kuching organised by BM Supply Motors Sdn Bhd, that is to foster a brotherhood amongst bike enthusiasts throughout the country.

The Yamaha tour to Kuching has brought bikers to experience the great outdoors and the cities of Sibu, Bintulu, Srikei, Sri Aman and Kuching, where bike clubs from each city gather to welcome the Yamaha group as they journey on towards their final destination in Kuching.

In Kuching, the Victoria Arms Big bikers club members had hosted several activities with the Yamaha group, this included a mini paintball tournament, and rides around Kuching as well as its outskirts. In this way the Yamaha group not only gets a chance to ride around Kuching and experience the sights, sounds, and trials of the road but also exposes them to the wonders of Kuching city though a different prospective.

The Yamaha group will stay in Kuching for two days before making their way back stopping in Bintulu for a good rest prior to arriving in Brunei the day after.

SIBU Sarawak - The eagerly awaited YAMAHA bike expedition to Kuching Sarawak, organised by BM Supply Motors was on the way yesterday.

Launching the participants was Managing Director of BM Supply Motors Sdn Bhd, Mr Liew, who had said that the expedition consisting of 42 participants, 36 of who are riding on their bikes and three back up cars including a mechanic are part of BM Supply Motors annual treat for customers.

The participants left Brunei Darussalam and began their 1000km expedition at 8 in the morning. After a small break down where a bike had punctured a tyre, the participants arrived in Sibu at 630pm.

“This is the second time i’ve joined the YAMAHA expedition, where last year they had gone to Sandakan. It’s an exciting ride, where bikers are able to forge a brotherhood through their love of bikes and enjoy a tour which has been organised and coordinated to fully cater bikers wheter they are new or old,” said a biker.

This is the sixth expedition where that BM Supply Motors Sdn Bhd has organised, and there are more and more bike enthusiasts eager to join in the ride as the year goes by.

13 yr PEMODA anniversary to be held on 28th March 2009

Kiulap 17 March 2009 - Darussalam Motorcycle Association (PEMODA) will hold its 13 year anniversary celebration on Saturday 28^th March 2009. The event will be held at the Jeruton hotel in Jerudong.

In a surprised announcement made by the Deputy President of PEMODA, Pg Hj Rezduan bin Hj Ahmad during the second PEMODA EXCO committee meeting, the 13 year anniversary celebration was amongst the top priority event in the new focus of events scheduled for PEMODA.

He said that the anniversary celebration is for PEMODA members to celebrate one of the oldest motorbike association in BORNEO. For 13 years PEMODA has made a name for itself not only in Brunei Darussalam but also in the region, BORNEO specifically.

The anniversary celebration will also pay tribute to the pioneers / founders of the association where they envisioned an association where bike enthusiasts will be able to join and be proud of.

For 13 years PEMODA has been involved in national events and has been promoting Brunei Darussalam indirect result to the many tours outside Brunei, that has been conducted over the years.

PEMODA has evolved from a handful of bike enthusiasts to now over 500 member strong association. It is time that PEMODA members to come together and celebrate the pioneers for their vision and celebrate PEMODA’s success with them.

The success of PEMODA as an association is largely due to its members, for without their support and encouragement the association will never have made it through its first year. Hence during the celebration members are asked to wear shirts bearing the PEMODA logo only.

Meanwhile during the PEMODA EXCO meeting a new focus of event was discussed and endorsed by the EXCO committee where each month there will be an event organised for PEMODA’s members. These events will be a mixture of events from, charity work, religious and sports activities where it aims not only to foster a closer relation between members but also forge a closer relation between the association and the community at large.

PEMODA President Hj Maidin bin Momin said that the events organised for PEMODA members are hoped to open up a new chapter in PEMODA, where bike enthusiasts in particular PEMODA members are able to enjoy the full advantages of being in an association that not only cares for its own members but also the welfare of the community at large.

He had also said that the 13 year anniversary will give a good opportunity to update PEMODA’s data base on existing members and to touch base with members who has been out of touch with PEMODA.

During the 2^nd PEMODA EXCO meeting the President of PEMODA also took the opportunity to present letters of appointment to the 8 Executive Committee Members of PEMODA and the 6 District Working Committee.

Where he urged the committee members to do their best for the association, and as committee members they should set themselves as an example to other members where they have to conduct themselves in the most respectable manners.
