Nature Reserve Volunteer

At Portmore Lough we are starting a volunteer work party to take place one day a week. A variety of skills can be used, from surveying to scrub clearing to estate maintenance. Key to this however is enthusiasm and an interest in conservation. By getting involved with the work party you are helping with essential work on the reserve and directly supporting biodiversity.

Festival Volunteers - various jobs

This is the 10th year of Open House Festival - a roots music festival, based in the Cathedral Quarter in Belfast, that takes place during the last weekend of September each year.

We need volunteers to help with lots of jobs around the festival - stewarding at events, selling merchandise for the bands, helping traders with their stalls at our daytime ChilliFest events etc.

All volunteers must be over 18 years of age, friendly and personable.
You will receive basic training, and a festival tshirt to wear while on duty.
It's hard work, but lots of fun. And the music's great!

Health Fairs Volunteer

This is a key voluntary role within the organisation.
You will represent UCF at health fairs in various location, providing information to the public about UCF and it's work, and engaging with them to increase awareness of health issues.
This role will suit anyone who enjoys interacting with the public, has basic health awareness and is comfortable using their own initiative.
A background in healthcare or study in linked areas would be desirable.

Health fairs are usually held on weekdays, either during the day or in the evening and we ask that volunteers commit to at least one fair per month.
Full training and support is provided.

You will be fulfilling a vital role on behalf of UCF and at the same time gaining valuable experience.

Ulster Cancer Foundation is N.Ireland's leading local cancer charity, dedicated to helping save lives and enhancing the quality of life for everyone affected by cancer.
We provide support services, research new and better treatments for cancer, undertake education and prevention programmes as well as campaigning and advocacy work.

We have a large and varied timetable of fundraising events and activities and we need people to help us at the venues. Volunteers will work as part of a team and the role will suit anyone who is practical, outgoing and enjoys working with the public.
It's a great opportunity to take part in some fun events.

Project Volunteer

Volunteers are required to bring a personal and human aspect to our projects. Volunteers would be required to visit a project once a week during the day or night time to engage with residents, chat over tea, organise quizzes or theme nights, play cards and board games and accompany residents on external trips outside of the hostel.

Arts and Crafts enthusiasts, Musicians, Walking Club, Gardener, Hairdresser/ Barber, Volunteer Alternative Therapy Practitioner, Volunteer Playgroup / Homework Club Assistant, Storytelling Time. These are the skills that are desired but are not essential.

International volunteers mainly volunteer on formal education - teaching English or other subjects (i.e. mathematics, environmental science, pure science, international history, and computer science, art, music, sports, P.E. and other vocational subjects) for about three hours a day, five to six days a week.

Besides formal teaching, they will be involved in organizing co-curricular activities which encourage students to participate and develop their life-skills. They will support to form Children Clubs and strengthen those children delivering capacity-building trainings. They will also disseminate information on children's rights, sanitation and hygiene, and adolescent health issues through various informal activities such as debates, quizzes contests, art and elocution competitions, folk song competitions, rallies, street dramas, etc.

Samaritans provide a confidential listening service to anyone passing through emotional distress, this service is provided via the telephone, face to face, letters, email and text.

The committee of Craigavon Samaritans would welcome interest from anyone with skills in the following areas: Fundraising, Publicity, or Accounts who would wish to act as non listening volunteers.

Craigavon Samaritans have a catchment area which includes Armagh, Bandbridge, Portadown, Lurgan and Dungannon areas, and applications are invited from any interested parties from within our catchment area and other areas.

Anyone with an interesting in helping to support Samaritans continue it's work in Craigavon should contact the Chairperson at the address provided.

Collection Can Coordinator

To seek permission to install collection cans in targeted outlets.
To hold an agreed number of collecting cans.
To service the collecting cans on a regular basis, to count and bank money in the presence of another volunteer.

Can you take high quality digital images of people and events that could be used for e.g. publications, media etc? RSPB is keen to develop a library of the work our volunteers do, the meetings and trips of our local groups and the events that RSPB are involved in.

Conservation Ranger Volunteer

Volunteers are required to undertake practical and nature conservation projects at one of Northern Ireland's most important nature conservation sites.

Lagan Valley Regional Park is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and comprises over 4000 acres of scenic woodland, wetland, grassland and riverside habitats. The backbone of the park is the River Lagan and towpath.

Volunteers play an integral role in the conservation of this beautiful landscape. Becoming a volunteer gives you the opportunity to gain new knowledge and skills while working to conserve wildlife and your local area.

No experience is necessary as full training will be provided, all that we require is that volunteers are enthusiastic motivated and willing to have fun!!!
