There are also others who play it out in the market such as RIM’s BlackBerry, Google’s Android, and Palm’s Pre. While for the past year, Sony Ericsson seem to have just watched on the bleachers, they have changed their attack plan with numerous smartphones such as the Xperia line dominated by an Android OS and Windows Mobile. Now, Symbian OS isn’t dropped out of the game just yet with its presence in the Vivaz Pro.

The Vivaz Pro features the first smartphone from Sony Ericsson to have the 720p HD video shooting capability. The 5-megapixel camera with flash has continuous autofocus so pictures always come out crisp and vivid. It also has a slide-out keyboard that makes it easy to compose an e-mail or sending a text message to friends or business clients. The embedded Facebook application allows easy access to your account without even opening the web browser.

There is no significant built-in memory but this is compensated by the included 8gb micro-SD card. If that is still not enough, the phone can also read 16gb micro-SD cards. Though Symbian OS hasn’t been really popular for touch screen phones (except for Nokia), the interface and true user experience on this one is yet to be tested.

If not, then here’s a bit of info: Bada OS is a mobile operating system that is being developed by Samsung Electronics for its smartphones. This was first introduced last November 10, 2009 and according to Korea Herald, this OS is set to challenge Google’s Android phone platform.

However, the phone handsets which will be based on this OS are expected to be displayed early in the first half of 2010. So, if you are excited about trying this new mobile operating system, then you better watch out for the release of the first Bada-based phone on April 2010 – the Samsung Wave S8500.

One of Mobile World Congress’ first smartphones which is expected to debut early this year is the new Wave 8500 from Samsung. It’s the first to ship not only with a Bada OS but also with Bluetooth 3.0. It’s full-packed with other great features such as 802.11n WiFi, TouchWiz 3.0, and 3.3-inch Super AMOLED display. As for the internal, it boasts a 5 megapixel camera, aGPS, 2GB or 8GB of internal memory, 1GHz processor, multi-codec support for DivX, XviD, MP3 and WMV, micro-SD expansion slot, and support for virtual 5.1 surround sound and 720p recording / decoding.

There is really a lot to forward to in this first Bada OS phone. Unfortunately, there’s still no word about pricing so you won’t be able to compare it to other mobile phones just yet. But for now, you can always check other Samsung Smartphone at Amazon to see more options.
