I had to wait 3 hours in the line to get into building. I was so happy to see that people were there for a cause and not for "free-food". This was the first festival of such kind, and I wish and pray that there will be many more. This will generate more exposure among people.

Inside the building, there were organizations, and food vendors showcasing vegetarian and vegan food products. And let me tell you, the vegan food we tasted was so delicious. We bought a lot of things, learned about new organization, and felt so happy that we were not alone. There are so many people and organizations, which have similar goals as ours. I wish I lived in NYC, because there are so many things to get involved with. One of my co-workes, whose two grown-up sons (24 and 18 years old) are vegan, recommended to try this vegetarian/vegan restaurant. I was hesitant in the begining because I was worried if I tried something vegan and if I don't like it, I will be very disappointed. I am not vegan yet, but I buy (@ Wholefoods) all organic milk and cheese, and buy cage free eggs, which I try not to eat a lot.

So last week, we went to this place. There is no seating but a picnic bench right outside the restaurant. The menu is big, tons of options. I order Chicken Cheese Steak with jalapenos, and my husband ordered General Tso's Chicken. We sat at the picnic table and ate our dinner. Let me tell you, I kept telling my husband that General Tso's Chicken taste and feel like real chicken. I even said to my husband that the restaurant is feeding us chicken. The dish was really good with brown rice and broccoli. My husband loved the chicken cheese steak as well. All in all, it was delicious! I recommend this place! I can't wait to go back and try there chicken wings.

Here is the website:http://www.amanisveggiegarden.com/

Address:177 South Centre Street, Merchantville, NJ 08109

Phone #: (856) 317-1949

Please support this buisness!!!

Options!

Recently I was shopping in the Atlantic City Outlet stores, and as expected there was a Coach outlet store. As further expected, the store was packed with women. Everybody was looking to find something big but less expensive. The reason I entered the store was because I wanted to see if Coach carried any non-leather option. With no surprise, I can tell you that Coach does NOT carry non-leather purses! And everywhere I looked in the store, I saw leather purses after leather purses. It was either just a handle or the whole bag. I felt really sad! How many animals died for these purses and for these crazy women. Fortunately, I saw one buisness/laptop bag which was not leather. Even the handles were synthetic leather. Coach should make more of these synthetic leather, so people have choices.

There was this lady who was leaving the store, with the biggest shopping bag, from coach, I have ever seen. And the shopping bag was full of leather purses. One poor cow was easily killed for the pleasure of this lady, so she can brag or gift these Coach purses. Shame on us! Are we really that ignorant? Or do you think we are cruel? Do you think it is fair that we kill an animal so we can tug this leather bag everywhere? But if you had options, wouldn't you want this animal to live its full life.

On a personal note, I don't think Coach is a great brand, because it has lost its uniqueness by being available to everyone. There is no class left with this brand.

What do you think about options? Do you think we would eat animals, if they talk to us and told us how much pain they suffer? I wouldn't! Even now when my dogs look at me with those cute eyes, I can't think about getting angry at them when they are being very stubborn. These animals feel pain because they have nervous system and nerve endings. And you do hear a cry of pain when an animal is hurt. It is just that they can't say "Please don't kill me" or "I am scared" or "Please let me live so I can see my babies one more time" or "Please give me water or food" or "Please I am in pain, give me painkiller" or "I dream to ...", etc. Just because they don't speak to us, we feel it is OK to kill them and eat.

We are one selfish race! Should I expect that in future, when there is no more animal to kill and eat, would we start eating new born babies because they also don't speak. The new born babies cry in pain, and communicate only with their eyes. Will we eat them? I think yes! Because we are that INHUMANE! And why not, an adult pig is more intelligent than a toddler.

It is not that there is no other food available for us to eat. But not now when we have CHOICES! Please choose responsibly. Don't enjoy your meal when somebody else suffered to be your meal. It will be two months next week since I haven't touched any meat product. I am not even craving for it. I don't even think or say that I wish I can eat this. I think this reaction is mainly because I keep thinking how these animals suffer before they are killed and packaged. So I can't even think about eating an animal. If I had been forced to become a vegetarian, I would have wished and craved for meat all the time. But this was my CHOICE, and in my eyes it is a good one. I agree that it gets difficult going outside to eat because for me it is not that "I will not eat meat", for me it is that this restaurant or establishment serves meat. So it gets difficult for me to go to a restaurant. And let me tell you, I love eating out. But on the bright side: I eat more at home, saving money, and feel good about eating healthy. I also feel that my clothes are fitting me nicely now :) That is a PLUS point.

My co-workers appreciates that I don't eat meat anymore but at the same time mentions that they wouldn't be able to live without meat for two months. I think they can! I think if they realize what they are eating or see with their eyes how these animals are tortured, they would have a change of heart.

I know I can't change anybody's mind or opinions, but hey I can get the information out there so people can make a conscience choice. But please don't laugh if you see me in different light now.

I felt good yesterday, when mum told me that how I changed her. Every time she eats meat, she thinks about me and my cause. It still doesn't stop her from eating meat but hey she is thinking about it. You never know eventually she will stop (wishful thinking!).

Bull Fighting OR Bull Torturing?

I vote for the latter- Bull Torturing. First of all I am SORRY dear animal that I saw you get tortured and die in front of me, and I could not do anything to save you or that I visited the bull fighting (BF) ring. May you have a better life in your next lifetime.

As I mentioned in my first post that I did not know any better about BF. I personally was not aware how the BF worked, or even that the bull was killed. I had a very innocent idea. I wish I kept living in that innocent world. We booked the tickets to BF before we even reached Madrid. When we reached Plaza Del Toros, we saw a huge line of people waiting to buy tickets or get in. I was very happy that we got the tickets beforehand and that we were ahead of so many people. Little did I know that I will start crying in next 30 minutes. So here is the experience that the bull goes through. The bull enters the empty ring from one of the doors of the bull ring. You can see that the bull is already agitated before it even steps in the ring. I am sure the bull was tortured before coming in the ring. The bull is dressed in different color ribbons between its shoulder blades. I don't know if the ribbons were stabbed in its shoulder blade before it was sent to the ring. While bull is running around the ring, the matador comes in with his cloth or whatever that cloth is called. I am not going to waste my time searching for the name of the red cloth. It is not worth it! The bull charges and the matador does his act with the cloth. When I saw that act, I was happy. That is what I came to see and experience. But the reality is very different! After 10 minutes of bull-matador act, three dressed-up men join the matador in the ring. Lets call them matador assistant (MA). They also try to irritate the bull. And then one of the MA uses his poking rod and stabs the bull between the shoulder. The bull is hurt but still you can see the bull fight these annoying men. You can see that bull is getting tired, and is very thirsty. Its tongue is hanging outside its mouth. Then another matador comes in on a horse. Now this horse is covered with protective material, and even the eyes are covered so the horse doesn't get scared and runs off. Now this bull sees this horse and matador, and he charges towards the horse. The horse gets hurt, and sometimes fall to the ground. The matador sitting on the horse stabs the bull with a triangular blade on a long rod. Now this stab is really what slows down the bull. I remember seeing the blood and flesh gushing out of the stab wound. I felt so sad for the animal. The bull was tired, hurt, bleeding, and thirsty. And these other MA kept bugging it by making loud noises and poking the bull. After the MA know that the bull is tired, the main matador uses his sword and pokes the bull from his shoulder blade into his heart. This doesn't happen in the first go. The bull is stabbed 5-6 times before he really gets it in his heart and finally falls to his knees. Let me tell you, every time the bull was stabbed, wounded or hurt, the crowd cheered for the matadors. Nobody felt anything bad for the bull. Then once the bull is on his knees, one of the MA uses his sharp, small pocket knife (OMG!) and cuts the bull's neck. You can see the poor bull kicking and suffering. And people cheer at his suffering. After the bull is dead, a decorated horses' carriage comes and drag the bull away with his blood dripping behind him. Right after the carriage, ring-workers hide the blood by covering it with sand, and after 5 minutes the next bull is sent into the ring. And the dance of torture, and death continues. The fate of 6 bulls are usually written in 2 hours, and let me tell you my friend, that it is a horrible fate.

It is just not fair! This poor bull had no chance of survival. The bull is meant to suffer and die! Six armed men against one scared bull. It is just NOT FAIR! Trust me I would have loved to see the bull killing one matador and I am not sorry about saying that. I would have cheered for that. One other thing that I saw, there was this bull, who entered the ring but stood very close to the door from where he entered. It seemed like he didn't want to come in the center of the ring. As if he knew what lies ahead for him-Death. During the torture time, when the bull was being bugged and wounded by the MA, the bull at one point stared at the door he came in from. I felt so bad :((. Poor guy wanted to go back. It was just not fair to torture the poor bull for people's entertainment. I am sorry, you can't call this an art! You can't say this is man vs. wild, and enjoy the experience. This was torture- brutal torture! And some people had the nerve to bring their young kids to experience bull fighting. It this experience tormented me, what would have happened to the young minds. I am hoping that these young minds demandes soon enough to become vegetarian.

Do you know the Spaniards don't support BF anymore. The BF is mainly run for tourist. So please if you were to go to Spain, PLEASE DO NOT WATCH BULL FIGHTING! The brutality should end now. I BEG YOU! We, human beings have no right to take pleasure in killing these living beings who can't speak or tell us that they had enough and that they don't want anymore pain. Please raise your voice against animal cruelty.

Please see some pictures of this brutal experience by clicking at the picture below, and you will understand why this is ANIMAL CRUELTY and NOT ART!

Is It Too Late?

Who I am does not matter. What my name is does not matter. What really matters is that for last 30 years I have been an accomplice in murdering chickens, lambs, cows, pigs, goats, sea animals, and I don't know how many other animals. I am not saying that I didn't know what I was eating. I knew I was eating the meat, it is just that I was unaware how these poor animals were treated and murdered. Yes! I knew these were dead animals but I could not connect the dots between meat in a package and the living being who was killed.

I remember when I was a little girl in India, and will go with my father or mother to the butcher to buy chicken. The butcher will get the chicken out of the crate to kill it. The crates were cramped with other chickens. The chicken would flutter in the butcher's hands, as if it was pleading to the butcher to let it live but chicken's end was written. The butcher will put the chicken on the wooden log and cut the chicken's head. In 1/1000th of the second the poor chicken went from alive to dead. This experience would torment me. I remember swearing there and then that I would never eat chicken again. We would go home and mum would make the yummiest chicken dish ever, which would put me back on eating chicken.

You will ask then why a sudden change of heart after 30 years. So here it is why. Last year we got a puppy. Well, I always had dogs in my life but didn't experience what I experienced last year. I was working on a food product (canned chicken). So, for work I went to a co-packer for a chicken project. There for the first time I experienced a slaughter house. It was so barbaric! The co-packer company assured me that chickens were killed humanely. How was that humane, I don't even know where to begin to explain. I will write about it in my other posts. But in every chicken, whose throat was being slit by a sharp, hot, metal blade, I saw my puppy's eyes in the chickens' eyes. I felt so sick. I would never let anyone hurt my puppy. Even now I remember the smell of that slaughter house- smell of death and murder. After that experience I didn't eat any chicken for a month. But old habit die hard! Right? I was back to eating chicken and the rest of the meats.

Another incident that happened was in Spain. Last month I vacationed in Spain. So like any tourist I wanted to experience bull fighting. Now let me tell you, I had no idea that bulls were brutally tortured and killed in front of everybody, and people cheered every time that bull was wounded. My idea of bull fighting was that it was an art, where this Matador flows this red cloth in front of the bull and the bull got angry. Thats what I thought. Not in million years I thought that the bull was murdered in the ring. But no words can describe the horrifying experience that bull goes through. I saw the first bullfight and I starting crying, and we left the bull ring. In two hours 6 bulls are usually murdered. And everywhere we went in spain, I saw pigs' legs hanging from doors, and ceilings. I made a pact then that I will do something about the bull torture. After watching bull fighting I tried not to eat any meat. I was not 100% successful even then. But when I cam back from vacation, just for curiosity I went on PETA's (People of Ethical Treatment of Animals) website, and what I saw made me realize that I am 100% responsible in the murdering of these innocent animals. I, then became a vegetarian! Also, for last 5 months I have been buying organic food.

I am using this media to share my thoughts, and in return, stay strong and never eat meat ever again. I don't want to murder any more animals and make these innocent animals my meal. So dear friends please support me in my cause. This is a choice and it is against animal cruelty and murder. So GOD help me!
