Thousands of spectators flocked to the 2012 Motorama event watching and participating in everything from motocross to karting to sprints and RC. Team Associated was there supporting our customers, promoting remote-control car racing, and competing in each class offered.

The event featured two different racing tracks. One was designed for competition among traditional 1:10 offroad vehicles including 2WD buggies, 4WD buggies, and stadium trucks on a clay surface. The other, larger track featured racing for 1:8 electric buggies and truggies along with 2WD and 4WD Short Course. With spectators filing through the event throughout the two-day period, many were witnessing competitive remote-control car racing for the first time.

On the 1:10 track, Chad Due was on fire with his Team Associated B4.1 WE and B44.1 buggies, taking the victory in the two premier classes on that track – 2WD and 4WD Modified. Chad used Reedy LiPo batteries and Reedy Sonic motors combined with LRP SXX V2 speed controls to bring home the double victory. Also taking a class victory in 17.5 Stadium Truck with his Reedy Sonic/LRP-powered Team Associated T4.1 was Dave Duncan from JConcepts.

Not to be left out of the winner’s circle was one of Team Associated’s latest signings, Max Flurer. Max took his FT SC10 truck to the top step of the podium and backed up his top-qualifying effort with a victory in the 2WD Modified Short Course class on the larger 1:8 track. Max also used a Reedy 5500 mAh 60C battery and a Reedy Sonic 7.5 motor with a LRP SXX V2 speed control to power him to victory.

Congratulations also goes out to podium finishers Steven Hartson (4WD Buggy), Chad Due (2WD Modified Short Course) and Brent Thielke (1:8 Expert eBuggy). With such a large opportunity to showcase RC cars to a massive group of potential customers, Motorama represents an event unlike any other. If you have the opportunity to attend, it’s a highly recommended experience to interact with people discovering the fun of remote-control cars for the first time.

Serpent introduces new Centax clutches for 1/10 and 1/8 onroad.

The development of the Centax clutch continues. Serpent’s designer Ron Ton was the innovator of this revolutionary clutch system in the mid 90-ties. Soon it became the industry standard in onroad racing, as all other brands adopted similar systems. Many variations have been tried, but in the end it still comes close to the original idea.

In the latest development the tapered shape has been moved from the flywheel to the pressure plate instead, improving punch and reliability. Serpent continues the use of the hard Centax spring to set preload, as its less critical and fast to adjust.

The 1/10 scale Centax True motion clutch has the red shoe and steel clutch housing. Black and yellow shoes can be tried as well, as well as the alu or light steel clutch housing.

The 1/8 scale Centax True motion clutch, has the black shoe and aluminum cutch housing as standard. Yellow and red shoes can be tried as well, as well as the steel or light steel clutch housing.

Additional features	Fits all Serpent cars and some other brands as well.

This past weekend MHOR R/C Raceway in Denver, CO, hosted the Rumble in the Rockies. There were nearly 200 entries with drivers from many parts of the country, which made for some great racing. The layout for the event was very high speed, and combined with a small track size, the lap times dropped into the 11-12 second range.

Modified 2WD Buggy
Kody Numedahl and Michael Schoettler qualified second and third overall respectively. Kody took A-1 and Michael took A-2, which meant that A-3 would determine the winner. Kody bobbled on the first lap but made his way back up to second only 1.2 seconds behind the leader. A three-way tie went in Kody’s favor by .2 seconds, giving him the overall win.

Modified 4WD Buggy
Again, Kody took the TQ of this class, followed by some of Tacoma WA’s best in Michael Schoettler and Luke Smith. Kody saw some mechanical issues in A-1, which dropped him out of the race, leaving Michael to cruise on to an early win. In A-2, an early bobble from Michael let Kody return the favor and take the easy win. A-3 would decide the overall winner and proved to be a close race. Kody made a mistake early, letting Michael get around. He followed him closely but another mistake while pressuring for a pass let Michael take the overall win.

Modified 4WD SC
Adrian Redding took the TQ, followed by teammate Scott Brown. A-1 went just like qualifying — Adrian took the win followed very closely by Scott. In A-2 both drivers had small bobbles, causing them to finish second and third. A-3 was a battle from start to finish. They swapped positions many times but a last corner pass by Scott gave him the win in A-3 and the overall win by 1.2 seconds.

Overall it was a great weekend for Team Associated, taking home three out of the four modified classes.

The original AX10™ Scorpion hit the market in April of 2007. It was Axial’s first vehicle which brought crawling to the mainstream and quickly became the most influential crawler in the industry. Since then, Axial has made numerous advancements through a variety of chassis designs which developed new categories within the crawling segment.

April 2012 marks the five year anniversary of the AX10™ and Axial felt that it was time for the product that launched us into the crawling segment to undergo some evolution and receive some trickle-down technological advancements of its own!

We have not changed the original scope of the vehicle; the AX10™ Ridgecrest™ is still the “Leatherman” of the Axial product line and it’s where backyard crawling begins. We have taken key items from our products and put them into the AX10™ Ridgecrest™, along with an all-new tube style chassis. The most noticeable performance upgrade of the AX10™ are the Ripsaw™ tires, with their 5.5″ tall by 2.1″ wide stance, mounted on officially licensed Raceline Renegade wheels. But what you do not see is the updated suspension geometry that also delivers better articulation. All delivered through Dana 60 inspired AR60 OCP-Axles™ that have already been proven on the Axial Wraith™.

The AX10™ Ridgecrest™ is a highly capable, affordable starting point for anyone. If you are not sure what you want to do and how you want to do it within the various segments of crawling, the AX10™ Ridgecrest™ is the most versatile truck with scale looks, performance driven components and the right amount of speed mixed with technical crawling prowess – all in one rig.

FEATURES:
• All-new tube style chassis design.
• AR60 OCP-Axles™.
• 87/20 gearing (87T spur gear, 20T pinion gear).
• Competition legal 12″ wheelbase.
• Adjustable tray that accepts standard stick packs or lipo batteries.
• Adjustable suspension and shock mounting positions.
• WB8 Wild Boar™ splined driveshafts.
• Ripsaw™ tires mounted on Raceline Renegade wheels.
• 4-link suspension.
• Double shear link mounts.

THE WORLD’S SMALLEST BRUSHLESS 4WD SHORT COURSE TRUCK. An agile 4WD drivetrain. A powerful 8750Kv brushless micro motor. An interference-free radio system with Spektrum™ 2.4GHz DSM® technology. Realistic short course details. The 1/24-scale brushless RTR 4WD short course truck has it all. Whats more, its ready to run and comes with a rechargeable battery pack and charger. This truck is fully equipped to attack the short course and then some. All you need to do is take it out of the box, charge the battery and let it rip.

Features
2-in-1 Brushless ESC/2.4GHz DSM Receiver Combo Unit
The brushless speed control with reverse has been integrated onto the same component as the Spektrum 2.4GHz DSM receiver to save space and reduce the overall weight of the vehicle so performance is not affected.

8750Kv Brushless Motor
Designed to give you plenty of power for the 4WD transmission, the micro 8750Kv brushless motor requires little to no maintenance and provides a whole lot of fast-paced action run after run.

Innovative Micro 4X4 Chassis
The shaft driven 4-wheel-drive system with front and rear gear differentials will ensure the power from the brushless micro motor is put to the ground for turf-shredding Micro action. The vehicle is equipped with a fully functional slipper, creating an extremely durable drive system.

Simple Bottom-Load Battery Compartment
No tools are needed to swap out the battery to keep the 4X4 fun going.

Adjustable Oil-Filled, Coil-Over Shocks
These threaded, oil-filled shocks are adjustable and ensures the desired suspension performance feels just like the larger scale shocks, but in a micro size.

Long Runtime Battery and Charger
The Micro Brushless Short Course Truck arrives assembled and ready to run, including a 4.8V 220mAh NiMH battery and wall charger. The battery pack features powerful, long-life NiMH cells for plenty of power and run time.

Losi Radio System with Spektrum 2.4GHz DSM Technology
Thanks to Spektrum 2.4GHz DSM technology, you can run your Micro Brushless Short Course Truck without the worry of harmful interference from other sources while being able to operate with all of your closest RC friends using any radio technology. DSM technology offers numerous benefits over traditional systems:
No interference or glitching, which means never having to worry about finding an open frequency, changing crystals or losing control of your vehicle.
Losi® DSM transmitters only require 4 AA batteries, making them lighter in weight and less expensive to maintain.
A shorter, fold-over antenna on the transmitter makes travel and storage much more convenient.
