Organic Search

It has been not one time but several times after Caffeine update that I have seen Google showing ambiguous results and already in my old posts I have discussed about this.

I did not save but I remember searching and astrologer detail and found some electronic device results in Organic search. Again two days back I was searching "San Diego Webdevelopment Training" (exact search) and I found Google did not offer any related search option at the end, also just 4 results were shown.

"Migrating to localized domains will allow us to continue promoting free expression and responsible publishing while providing greater flexibility in complying with valid removal requests pursuant to local law," Google said in a question and answer (Q&A) statement.

"NCR stands for 'No Country Redirect'

Now the blog http://open-source-development.blogspot.com/ that is hosted on Indian server takes the domain http://open-source-development.blogspot.in/ but by using http://open-source-development.blogspot.com/ncr would go to US English blog with short lived cookies.

How Free You are on The Internet

How Free You are on The Internet???? Is a Question and let me discuss this.

Internet Death Penalty Would Take Away Global Internet Integrity and Communication Freedom!!

Internet Freedom may led You to Prison, Social networking sites may be gateway to dark tunnel. Hey! Need not worry but be careful while browsing, sharing, posting.
I remember saying my friend “Truth would led to short term problem but long term happiness, Lie would led to short term happiness but long term trouble.” When the Internet browsing inspite of all security measures was not safe and secure because we Internet surfers are not really careful doing that and relentlessly browse and share. The beginning of year 2012 has set ALARM to Internet browsing when the complete world is submerged in social media activities and cannot think of life without Google search, Yahoo shopping, Bing, Facebook sharing, Twitter tweets… so we all need to put a step ahead and look what is making so much of fuss.
I was Googling as it is in my daily routine and the news - SOPA, PIPA, ACTA, & H.R. 1981 Vs Internet Freedom was really something I could not stop going through.
SOPA: Stop Online Piracy Act
PIPA: PROTECT IP Act
ACTA: Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement

SOPA was introduced in the House as H.R. 3261 by Lamar Smith (R-TX) on October 26, 2011 to - "To promote prosperity, creativity, entrepreneurship, and innovation by combating the theft of U.S. property, and for other purposes." —H.R. 3261 (Bill 3261 is a proposed law in US). SOPA is similar to PRO-IP Act of 2008 and the corresponding Senate bill, the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA), Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) October 2007. PIPA is a limited to domain name system providers, financial companies, and ad networks where as SOPA covers companies providing Internet connectivity.

18th January Internet Blackout Day: Platorms and sources that are taken as source of trust worthy information skew the facts and provide wrong information to attract users and this is big threat. Comprehensive protest by web companies and organizations, Internet companies that offer web services was observed on 18th January 2012. They protested by displaying black banners over their logos (blackout their site for a day), posted links and images, petition drives and other protest action were taken in protest to raise awarness; few of them are Google, Wikipedia, Mozilla, Reddit etc. You can find the list here: SOPA Strike

Opponents of the bill have proposed the Online Protection and Enforcement of Digital Trade Act (OPEN) as an alternative.
Google Plus One is an open challenge to Facebook and Twitter.

I am always bewildered about organic SEO. Is Google Pluse One a new gateway or just a promotion way. I do not think that organic SEO is self propelled these days, it is more about asking favor for your link post on various social networking sites. But why?? It is more about posting links to various bookmarking sites and sharing. What I see for the purpose of promotion webmasters post link to various sites but 1 out of 1000s links actually get any real vote without actually asking for it. Similarly I find on sites like stumbleupon, facebook you keep adding friends in your network and posting links which are not of their interest and ask for favor to go through. Actually your friends in your network they open the link for sure but they never go through as the web page is not of their interest. So, how is this actually going to boost ranking of a website??? No, this increases bounce rate.

Twitter Web Analytics Service - Tweets Handler

Twitter new handler to monitor tweets effect!

Here is good news for SEO webmasters, dwell into your website tweets. Now Twetter will be providing web analytics service. Twitter Web Analytics will tell you how many click-throughs, on average, the tweets over a certain period of time attracted, and what percentage of those tweets used your Tweet buttons. The tool will help webmasters in following ways:

1. You can know how much your website content is shared across Twitter's network;
2. How much traffic Twitter is sending to their site;
3. Tweet button integration effectiveness can be measured.

Twitter data slicing (performing A-B split testing) will be further improved with time but let us enjoy all the three features at one place.

Google Related With Your Google Toolbar

Look at the bottom of your screen, a new feature is shown across the website you open, it is Google's new feature. Yahoo link analysis tool used by SEO webmaster will shut down lately by end of year 2011. Yahoo Tim Mayer had set the tool "Yahoo Site Explorer". Microsoft is working in organic results transition and one all transition is complete Site Explorer will shut down. After September 15, 2011 all organic results will be powered by Microsoft Search platforms, Yahoo.

So, will Yahoo crawler crawl our website??? Microsoft says slurp will continue to crawl your websites. There is going to be lots of changes and SEO will have now just two major search result Google Search and Yahoo Search.

So there will be only two major search engines Google Search and Yahoo Search that is Microsoft Search platform...no seperate Bing and Yahoo result, it seems there would be common result.

Google Real Time search feature Temporarily Disabled From Google Search

Google real time search inspite of its success rolled out suddenly was really surprising.
It remains unanswered if Google Real Search option and its features like Wonder Wheel, Image search by dimension will roll in with Google Plus One integration. Google + will be integrated with Google Real Time Search is a hope as Googleers are working to incorporate Google+ into this functionality.

On Saturday, 2nd July 2011 Google Real Time Search disappeared/rolled out from web search option in the left under more, on clicking google.com/realtime it gave 404s error. I believe it was a success but as Twitter and Google deal for feed has ended and has not been renewed the realtime search has been temporarily been disabled.

Google Correlate: Reverse Google Trend

For Researchers: Upload trend and find the research trend
Know about Google Tags and Google Boost local business advertising products.

Google local under senior VP Jeff Huber is watching the rolling out of Google tags within Google Places or Google Maps. Google will stop Tags in Google Maps and Places after 29th April 2011, it was announced on 15th April 2011. Merchants using the Google tags product for advertising their business in local market were sent notification email. Google tags used for enhance listing costs just $25 per month with a month free trail compared to Yext tag, a new ad product for local marketers and national advertisers with local outlets that is available at $99 per month, with a 7-day free trial.

Merchants could highlight their natural local business listing with a yellow tag and few words focusing offers, links, menus, photos on website. Earlier in October 2010 Google removed website URL from Google tag.

Google new local advertising product called Boost will take its place; a refined version of Tag. On 25th October 2010 Google announced new product Google Boost. Boost ads are all of those blue-colored pushpins on Google Maps and in paid search results. Boost will not highlight website URL, menus, photos, offer but will pull address and phone number. Boost ads will not drive direct traffic to website but will take a visitor directly to make a call for services. In compared to Tags that are sold at flat subscription and appear next to organic results Boost merchants will set a budget and pay per click; Boost ads appear in the "Sponsored Links" section of Google.com and Google Maps search result pages.

For local businesses looking for tag products can trust a new advertising product Yext Tags (Yext CEO Howard Lerman). Yext Tags will change to PowerListings. Yext tags brings the thrust of Internet advertising to local businesses, tags can be added to any local business listing sites like SuperPages, Local.com, etc. on an application, mobile device, search engine, review sites.

I would like to go back a little and talk about Google name transition from Google Local to Google Places.

On April 19th 2010, a year back Google decided to change the name of its local business listing center what was called the “Google Local Business Center” to “Google Places.” The change is a steap ahead as Google keeps making changes for betterment to connect Google Place Pages with the place where local business information is claimed, entered and enhanced.

Google Place was a roadway that would connect SMB promotional and consumer assets and help build brand around Places.

With Google Places name change following addition features were introduced:
Enhanced Listings - At Google places now businesses could advertise for just $25 per month, businesses in select cities could make their listings stand out on Google.com and Google Maps with Tags. As of today, with availability in Houston and San Jose, CA, Austin, Atlanta and Washington, D.C., Chicago, San Diego, Seattle, Boulder and San Francisco.
Google said, "adding a tag to your Google Places listing allows you to highlight info that you want your customers to see."

Business Photos: businesses could add free of cost interior photography of business.

Customized QR codes: unique to an individual business could be added on business cards and marketing materials so that customers using iphones could directly call the mobile version of Google Place page for business

Favorite Places: shows you the nearest Favorite Places city to your current location. These lists are helpful as discovery tools and can be saved (on the PC) to your own My Maps. With some effort users can pick and choose individual locations from among the celebrity lists and make their own personalized meta-lists.

Service areas were already listed with the Google Local Business Center. With real time updates, better statistics control, options to add coupons listings in Google places had steep growth.

But sooner it was realized that Google started aggressively using Tags as ad option on Google Place Pages as a result Google in October 2010 (10/25/2010) removed website URL tag option (removed option to highlight website URL). Googler Brianna replied "those who have the URL option already in place are able to continue to use it, but you can't change it, if you do, it will be lost. So those who are grandfathered in, stick with it - until Google snatches it away".

YouTube founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen announced on 27th April 2011 that they have acquired the Delicious technology from Yahoo via AVOS the YouTube founders new Internet Company. After July 2011 Yahoo will stop access to Delicious and users will be asked for creating a new login at the same will provide permission grant from Yahoo to securely transfer all old existing bookmarks. I hope within this transition period users get sufficient time to move to new account and also after July Delicious product gets a new face.

Now users are looking for answers to questions like how to transfer their bookmarks from their most liked social bookmarking site maintained coolly by Yahoo to AVOS??
We talk daily about Internet and the whole world is engaged round the clock surfing on the web. I would like to discuss very sommon term that would really help to improve performance of web sufers, Internet users and at the same it will speed up your search activity and provide secure access.

So, let me talk about Cookies. What are COOKIES, where are cookies stored and nature and type of cookies.

Cookies are very small text files stored on user's computer by thier web browser. A website put cookie on user's computer, these small text files store informataion about your search preferences, and lot more. Cookies are not executable and so they cannot replicate. So, how the small text is going to act big?? Modern browsers offer users choice if they want to accept cookies or not, and the time frame to keep these cookies.

What are cookies used for?? Cookie may be used for authentication of trusted websites, storing site preferences (personalization), shopping cart contents (item value store), the identifier for a server-based session (website analytics), or anything else that can be accomplished through storing text data.

Where are Cookies stored??? Cookies are stored is in a folder named Cookies which is stored inside the Documents and Settings folder. By default, the path is C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Cookies. These cookies can be deleted manually by users for privacy issues or to save space. Cookies may be set by the server with or without an expiration date.

Cookies are encrypted for information privacy and data security, and bits of info are stored as name-value pair. The cookie is sent as a field in the header of the HTTP response by a web server to a web browser and then sent back unchanged by the browser each time it accesses that server.

How to you personalize your web search??? Websites that use cookies on your computer provide user a personalized experience by gathering information about website use.

Temporary Cookies/ Session Cookies are cookies that are removed from your computer after you close the browser or even if you have not visited the website for certain period called session idle timeout, these cookies enhance user experience, especially when you are doing online shopping saves your shopping cart items but once you close the browser it gets deleted.

Persistent Cookies or saved cookies remian on your computer even after you close the browser. These cookies are used to save website's sign-in, password info so that next time when you login you donot need to remember it or sign in. These cookies may remain on your computer for days, months, or even years.

First-party Cookies come from the website or its sub-domain in your computer's browsers address bar that you're viewing and can be either persistent or temporary. Websites might use these cookies to store information that they'll reuse the next time you go to that site.

Third Party Cookies come from other websites' advertisements (such as pop-up or banner ads) on the website that you're viewing. Websites might use these cookies to track your web use for marketing purposes.

Secure cookie is only used when a browser is visiting a server via HTTPS, that will make sure that cookie is always encrypted when transmitting from client to server, and therefore less likely to be exposed to cookie theft via eavesdropping.

Social CRM (SCRM), social customers, social media monitoring are buzz words in the web media industry. Social media has penetrated business world and holds good share of web and search. Starting from its growth through its envolvement social media has proved to be a great tool behind success story of brands. How is social media different from the earlier traditional marketing program. Here we will discuss about effectiveness of social media in comparison to traditional advertising. A comprehensive social media strategy will impact your business bottom line including your relation with customers, sales, brand awareness. Social media presence will provide a customer engagement model where you can hear your customers' say, also reach out people who earlier had poor experience with brands, also generate valuable traffic. You can use different social networks based on interests and keywords search. Kevin Palmer is the Owner and Chief Strategist for Social Media Answers speaks about economic value of social media.

Impact of social media on society as whole cannot be denied. Whether it is your personal life, individual life, business or society social media threshold on the social circle is increasing and if you are not within this circle you are far behind in the web race. If you want to become more social, become voice of your customer platform and have a social media engagement model for your target business.

Paul Greenberg, and author and leading authority on SCRM, stated that Social CRM is "..designed to engage the customer in a collaborative conversation in order to provide a mutually beneficial value in a trusted and transparent business environment. It's the company response to the customer's owning of the relationship."

SCRM defined by Michael Fauschette: "Social CRM is the tools and processes that encourage better, more effective customer interaction and leverage the collective intelligence of the broader customer community with the intended result of increasing intimacy between an
organization and its prospects and customers. The goal is to make the relationship with the customer more intimate and tied to the company by building a public ecosystem to better understand what they want and how they interact with the various company touchpoints like sales,
customer service etc..."

Leverage your social graph by building a user base by being active in your network and also expanding and building your own brand initially.

It is not only latest trend but most successful - guest blogging is best, need to pitch bloggers, they will write on your blog and place their website link on yours in return.

Building a social fan base by responding to customers, content is king, whether on Facebook, Twitter, Stumbleupon as your fans increase your brand impact on society increases.

Participating in various outdoor activities, events, videos and pictures all together act as fuel io social media industry.

Talking about influence and popularity, social media will be seen more seriously with deep integration of social media and social element.

Location based social applications like Facebook places and foursquare is going to become more popular. More focus can be on retaining old customers and attracting new ones. Reputation Management is to top all. You will continue to see more businesses leveraging social media

beyond just securing an online account, but actually engaging with their customers to gauge their feedback on products/services.

Today very few companies are able to engage social customer relation management, except very few today like Bestbuys that has benefited from SCRM rest companies are in progressive stage. Today companies have started to use social channels to engage with customers and educate them about social customer strategy. The organization must develop a strategic framework for engaging the social customer. This means researching how the customer behaves and what the customer wants through social channels. Also, organizations must understand how to make these interactions and engagements scale across the organization. Good luck to all businesses for their endeavors in Social Media.

Larry Page will Replace Eric Schmidt as CEO on 4th April 2011
