Compressed gases and cylinders can be hazardous if it is not used, handled or stored properly. Special precautions have to be taken while working or transporting compressed gases and cylinders. Compressed gases cylinders pose a big threat as it can contain dangerous gases that are Flammable, Explosive, Corrosive and Poisonous. To prevent injuries and accidents, the Industrial Compressed Gas cylinders must be clearly identified and color coded depends on what type of gas it contains. Details of type of gas have to be mentioned on the cylinder and it have to be easy in identify, don’t rely only on color. Also, it is necessary that the gases have to be stored separately, mixture of gases can sometimes result in big blasts or poisonous air. Always shut the regulators/cylinder valves or keep it is sealed when it is not in use. Also, do regular inspection in order to safe operation.

Compressed gases are used for various industrial operations, so it is extremely necessary for industries that their workers are well trained.

The Compressed Gas Safety training covers these interesting topics:

Type of compressed gases and its characteristics

Compressed Gas Cylinder Safety Precautions

Knowledge on hazards

How to store/transport/use/maintain compressed gases

Other precautions

The Compressed Air Safety Video is designed to train workers about the hazards of working with compressed air and compressed air powered tools. This video covers various video clips of working with tools, using compressed air in the workplace, and proper protection when working with compressed air. This video even covers a few accidents that happened due to negligence. Practical training with compressed gas cylinder is covered under these training programs which demonstrate proper handling and operating procedures, how to identify leaks, etc. The training program also covers discussion on the problems workers face while storing and transporting cylinders at workplaces.

The purpose of this training program is to make workers cautious while working around compressed gases and cylinders for their own safety and others as well.

Workplace Stress tends to peak during the Summer months due to excessive heat and higher substance abuse by employees. As seen in the news lately, there has been a rash of Workplace violence incidents which can and have, end up fatal. One out of every six violent crimes occurs in the workplace. And while workplace homicides grab the headlines as they have done recently… (homicide is the second leading cause of death on the job and the number one killer of women in the workplace)… other forms of workplace violence happen much more frequently. No organization, regardless of size or type of business, is immune to workplace violence.

There are several warning signs that tend to get overlooked. For example: If an employee begins to complain more and more excessively each day and doesn’t appear to working as a team, there is a chance there is an underlying stress that needs to be dealt with. Perhaps its an employee that turns their shoulder to safety or supervisors requests. Some other obvious tell tale signs are: threats, abusive behavior both inside and outside the workplace, discrimination, harassment or even employees that excessively discuss their weapon collections. In some cases it could be the complete opposite where an employee is often left out or kept to themselves.

In most cases the signs are evident and employee & supervisor training is mandatory. Help keep your staff alert for any incidents by properly training them on:

Warning Signs

How to handle a potentially violent situation

WHMIS requires all suppliers, including manufacturers, packagers, processors and importers, to label all their product containers and prepare Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s) for each of their products according to the hazard criteria given in the Controlled Product Regulations under the federal Hazardous Products Act.

All employers must ensure that the products used in the workplace are adequately labeled and that their MSDS are available before they are handled by employees. Employers are also required under the system to design worker education programs that enable the workers to know about the significance of labels and MSDSs and how to work safely with hazardous materials.

As you probably know, the biggest piece of safety training’s cost is the time that employees are away from their jobs while they’re being trained. As a result, you are very interested in anything that can save time during the training process. MARCOM’s CD-ROM courses have a unique “assessment” feature that can cut the training time for the average employee in half!

Many courses (including MARCOM’s) allow you to set up course level “pre-tests”, which can be used to test employees out of courses entirely. But an employee must have a high overall level of knowledge of the course material to pass the typical pre-test, and many employees don’t have this capability. With the assessment feature, MARCOM’s courses break the pre-test down to the “chapter” level, and “assess” an employee’s knowledge chapter by chapter. If an employee answers enough of a chapter’s pre-test questions the course automatically “reconfigures” itself without that chapter, so the employee doesn’t have to sit through training on material that they already know, saving time and money…lots of money!

With the EPA now requiring all firms that come into contact with lead based paint to follow specific procedures, this video is perfect for employees that will be handling lead during renovation and repair projects done in buildings constructed before 1978.

Summit’s comprehensive training program teaches construction and renovation workers important safety precautions to take while working around lead hazards, such as the appropriate PPE to wear and how to zone off the work area to keep toxic dust to a minimum. By becoming more informed, employees will take pride in knowing how to maintain a safe work environment.

Most employees don’t often consider the possibility of emergencies or disasters, but in reality they can happen at any moment and you must be prepared. Should any disasters occur within your facility and you haven’t taken Emergency Response Planning seriously, than your business may end up with massive loss.

Safety of the workers is a main concern for any organization to comply with OSHA standards. Since we do not know what will happen next while working, all organizations have to put together an Emergency Safety Plan to tackle emergencies. These organizations have to provide their workers with training on what they should do in the case of an emergency for their own safety and others. For years, businesses have been focusing on emergency safety plans and implementing them into their safety discussions. Emergency safety training will help workers know what they have to do, when they should do it, how much of a threat is involved and what the outcome should be. Most employees don’t often consider the possibility of emergencies or disasters, but in reality they can happen at any moment and you must be prepared. Should any disasters occur within your facility and you haven’t taken Emergency Response Planning seriously, than your business may end up with massive loss.

Emergency Safety Plan for workers’ safety.

Use of sign boards and posters can be one easy step to notify the workers of things such as fire exit doors and fire extinguishers. Your organization should have the means of making everyone in the facility aware of an emergency by using sirens, voice broadcasting devices etc. There are several things that should be covered when developing an emergency response plan. First of all, you have to decide what needs to be done. Secondly, you have to decide where to go (evacuation route), and thirdly, you have to decide what to do next. These three very important steps are the backbone of any good emergency response plan.

An emergency response plan has to be clear and easy to implement. Depending on the emergency and whether it is inside or out, the decision has to be made whether workers have to stay within the facility or if they need to evacuate to a safe zone. If outside, your facility will need to develop a meeting point and evacuation route to follow so a count can be made of who may still be in danger. Also, this emergency response plan has to mention what the workers should do next and what they can do to let others know that they themselves are safe.

Compliance and Safety is a leading safety services and products supplier in the US and across the globe. We offer various training products such as Emergency Plans DVD, Emergency Planning Guide, Emergency Preparedness Planning Videos, etc. This material is critical for any facility to develop a solid safety and awareness program.
