2. Hover over the ‘Users’ icon and you’ll see a drop-down list of options. Click on ‘Your Profile’.

3. At the bottom of the ‘Your Profile’ screen, you’ll see the entry boxes where you change your password.

4. Choose a password that is complex and thus hard to crack. The strength indicator on the screen will help you choose something suitable.

5. Make a note of your new password for the next time you sign in! I recommend the free or paid version of the secure software *Roboform* to remember your passwords.

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR WORDPRESS ADMIN USERNAME

Most WordPress bloggers do not change their admin username. They keep it at the default ‘admin’ or leave it at whatever they chose when they first installed WordPress.

Not good!

Changing the admin username is usually a tricky thing. Fortunately there is a great FREE WordPress plugin that makes it very simple.

1. Find and download the free plugin by searching for:

W-Shadow + Change Admin Username Plugin

2. Install the plugin in your blog(s).

After you install the plugin, a new option will appear in the drop-down list in ‘Users’ (the same icon you visited to change your password, as described above) called ‘Change Username’

3. Click on ‘Change Username’ and enter your new admin username into the simple screen that appears.

4. Write your username down so you don’t forget it!

Has anyone used Hard Drive Mechanic Gold to repair a failing hard drive?

I have an Archos Jukebox mp3 player.…which is one of the earlier, original type of mp3 players. The Archos uses as the storage system an actual laptop hard drive. Well, it’s about 5 years old and the hard drive is starting to not start properly at times. I found Hard Drive Mechanic Gold on the web and it claims to be able to fix and repair hard drives.

Does anyone have any luck with this?

Once you have pressed the enter button the CHKDSK will begin checking for any errors in every sectors and will automatically repair them. The methods can take time depending on the size of the drive.

Once the scanning for the testing job is done, and it returns to the command prompt you can type the command chkdsk /p and can press the button enter on your keyboard.

If you see no error in your drive you have successfully completed your testing method and your hard drive is repaired. If you see the errors again this means that the CHKDSK was unable t repair the damage.
Now you can exit the Recovery Console and can remove the CD of Windows XP/2000 installation.

I have several different streams of income that allow me to make money online. Some are better than others as they take less time and energy. Those that you have to put the extra effort into are always the most rewarding just because of the pain and passion that has gone into the creation.

Here is a list of my best ways to make money online:

One page information sites: This is where you create a one page site of information that people will need to know on a daily basis and cover it from head to toe in Adsense. To be able to make a decent profit you want to have at least a hundred of these and they require absolutely no maintenance and can be forgotten for years to come. Create small little niche sites with lots of Adsense and make sure that your Blog Posts reflect what is being currently searched in the search engines and you have it made. When your Blogs are doing well and you are earning a regular income from it you can get Blog posts written for you for a rather low amount so in effect you can have an automated business with very little work involved.

Article Writing: Just by writing 5 articles a day and then have a link through to one of your products can seriously increase your sales. They say that if you do write 25 a week so that’s 5 a day Monday to Friday you can expect to make $1000 in your first 30 days. However as your popularity grows and your reputation increases for being a accomplished writer you will earn much more than this.

Forum Marketing: This is my personal favourite you just NEVER knock the ability to build a business through the likes of internet forums. I use them most days and through answering a simple question and telling the person that I am replying to that they can find the answer on my Blog I can add over 100 clicks in a matter of minutes. This can work in any niche too and doesn’t just have to be associated with the make money online niche.

Social Marketing: This has to be the most powerful way of gaining traffic through to your products and services. WordPress Security: Close Every Loophole

A lot of attention is quite rightly focused on securing your WordPress installation itself. But, however secure your WP installation is, it counts for nothing if you’re leaving other doors open. If a hacker is absolutely determined to get into your site they’re probably going to succeed. But you can protect your WP installation from the mass bot hackers with a few common sense precautions. Here are some steps you can take: Firstly, make sure you keep your version of WordPress up to date. In addition to that, I’ve changed my login name from admin to something else (long and complex), made sure my password is as strong as I can make it, I’ve put an extra layer of security around the wp-admin directory, created a blank index.html file to hid the plugins I’m using and a few other steps. There are a number of good plugins that will carry out those steps and continuously monitor your blog for security vulnerabilities. I do recommend you install one of these — and keep it up to date! The more users you allow to update your blog the more risk there is. I don’t have guest bloggers, but if I did I’d ask them to send me their articles for posting, instead of giving them access rights. I also don’t ask people to register. But there are some areas that people often overlook, and which allow hackers to get access to your WordPress installation via your FTP details. If you’re not using SFTP (or Secure Shell Access if your hosting provider doesn’t support SFTP) then your FTP login details are being transmitted across the Internet in clear every time you log on and upload/download stuff. I back up my blog system files each week by copying everything back to my PC. Since this takes around an hour there’s plenty of opportunity for someone to intercept my FTP details. Also, of course, you could have spyware on your machine which would pick up your FTP logins from there. (Along with all your other logins!). Make sure you include your entire PC environment when you’re putting security in place — not just your WP installation. In addition to all those WP specific precautions, make sure your PC is absolutely clean (use a good anti-spyware application and scan it regularly) and use SFTP or Secure Shell Access to upload/download stuff from your server.

Nine SEO Mistakes Most Bloggers Make

1. Permitting Title Tags to be Auto Generated (from the post title, category name, etc.):

Every category page and most permalink pages (i.e. post pages) ought to be hand-crafted. Is there an SEO advantage of hosting my blog on an external established Blog system rather than my own?

I have a business blog section on my website. It’s basically an area of the website I can regularly update so that the content on my website is fresh. This is supposed to be good for my website in terms of search engines crawlers (apparently they’ll return more often).

But would I benefit more if I also have a blog in a proper blogging environment such as Blogger, WordPress etc. with links to various related pages in my website. I guess the upside would be that I would have relevent inbound links but the downside would be that I wouldn’t have the blog on my own site which means no regularly updated content.

Unless I run the blogs simultaneaously, but would that be seen as some sort of Black Hat technique due to the content being duplicated on an external blog which is linking back?

HELP!

Thanks in advance.
Having both blog on my website and on an external system is an option I’m open to, although I feared that I may be marked as a black hat by Search Engines.

If not then I may as well go for that.

Step by Step WordPress Blog Setup Checklist

STEP 1: Find A Niche

When I search for a niche idea, I try to find either a problem that people want to solve, or a product that people buys already. There are many web pages and tools I go through in my niche selection step. ClickBank Marketplace, Amazon Bestsellers, PayPal Shops and many other resources to brainstorm some profitable niche ideas. You can find literally thousands of niches in different areas and new ones are popping up every day. So, there will always be some niches that you could monetize.

STEP 2: Keyword Research

After I found a niche that I believe to be profitable, I do some keyword research. Although this step is as important as all the internet marketing gurus mention, I do not spend days or weeks on keyword research. Since I can not be sure if I will rank high and get some traffic without trying and just looking at the numbers. Here, I mainly use Google Keyword Tool and SEOQuake add on for FireFox to find profitable keywords and analyze them.

STEP 3: Decide on the Concept of the Site

Once the keyword research is done, I think about how to monetize it. Will I go for Google Adsense, affiliate sales or some CPA offers? Will it be an affiliate review site, an info-blog or some other type? I look for related affiliate products, CPCs for related keywords and related CPA offers.

STEP 4: Find a Suitable Domain Name and Register It

When the keyword research is complete, I look up for a suitable domain name. The more a domain name is keyword based, the better it is. However, I may go for a generic domain name — not one or two word generic names, like freesoftware or makemoney of course — if I can not find the domain with exact keywords and if the one I selected makes me happy with it.

STEP 5: Set up WordPress

The next step is setting up WordPress to your blog. This is as straight as it is. You can download WordPress on the official website, if your hosting provider does not support WordPress.

STEP 6: Choose a Nice/Niche Theme

After the blog is setup, I browse through free WordPress theme resources to find a sutiable one for my niche. Since there are thousands of free nice-looking themes and everyday more are coming, I’ve never paid for a WP theme, though there are some wonderful themes that I would like to purchase in the future. STEP 7: Configuration of Settings and Plugins

Once I am happy with the theme of my new site, I go through adjusting the settings and installing the necessary plugins I will make use of. Some of the plugins I use:

There are lots of useful plugins you can find inside the WordPress plugins archive. I make sure to make the blog available to the public by changing the privacy settings and adding some pinging services.

STEP 8: Tracking Traffic with Google Analytics

I love to track things and I am sure all the internet marketers are same since they are doing this business. I use Google Analytics for the time and it is really sufficient for my purposes. I add the code to the footer.php file just before the closing “body” tag.

Now it comes to populating the blog and posting something on it. When my blog has about 10 articles and the theme is settled more or less I go with the last two steps.

STEP 9: Submit to Directories

There are many many directories that you could submit your website, I have a list of them and submit to 3–5 directories each day. This will help my website indexed faster and will bring some link popularity.

STEP 10: Get Traffic

I have tried nearly all the traffic getting techniques like forum posting, blog commenting, video marketing, social networks though what I really like to see is the visitors coming from the search engines. The organic SEO is my favorite, since you work on it only once and if you do it right, you can expect visitors for your life as long as there is people searching for the terms you built your SEO efforts on.
