Misinformed Tech Show #03 Multimedia Players

Our podcast yesterday was about Multimedia Player. There are various multimedia players that the majority of the people use. Microsoft Window Media Player, Quicktime, and RealPlayer. Other players that are very useful if the main players won't let you open the file are Divx, VideoLAN and Matroska. These are used if the file won't open for the main three player. Now if you want to use the main player and it won't open a file that you want, then you'll have to download codecs. Codecs are what help you open the file without needing to use other players. There many various of codecs but the main ones are Xvid and Matroska.

This is show #4 and all of the members attended this time. Our resource was www.gizmodo.com .

Alex talked about a crappy multimeter and an LED shirt. Tryin to keep up a lil LED thing we got goin. Schrecker discussed an egg that sprouts a bean plant and a universal solar charger, we had like a 7 minute long solar power debate which schreck was proved wrong many times. Nicks stories were about a water proof touchscreen shower controller and a self replicating, repairing robot (go to www.gizmodo.com to see the video. And last but not least steele talked about a pair of glasses that trick your eyes to project a 30' screen and a steam washer which i dont know if thats even considered a gadget. Our random fact of the day was a Bob Ross video game. The only question was.. who would buy it?

For those who don't know the government was caught putting a secret room in an AT&T building. A law suit has been brought against AT&T and the government for unlawful spying by the NSA. Now the government is trying to pull the we're above the law approach claiming national security is at risk.

If this makes you cringe visit and support the Electronic Frontier Foundation and iPAC. These groups cannot help without your support.

Boxes are thought to be bombs in a small town, nailing spyware makers, guilty plea in largest piracy case, 2,000 Europeans targeted by music suits, Samsung's Blu-Ray player delayed like the PS3, Tigerdirect's rebates and finally the formating war between Sony's Blu-Ray DVD and HD-DVD.

IPac - Defending the public interest where culture and technology meet

Last week I wrote about the net neutrality act and how the ISP are looking to take more money from you and take away your freedom of choice. This group is all about finding politics to stand behind to protect your rights as technology users.

As it stands now if you own a CD and you want to put the music on an iPod and there is copy protection on the CD.... You are breaking the Copyright Act and can be sued. Companies are putting money into politicians pockets for their, which is yet another problem of being able to buy votes. This group will try and fight but they need your support to do so.

If you want to be able to record a show and put it on a DVD or vcr tape you will not be able to if the big companies get their way. Technology restrictions are getting out of hand, not being able to listen to music you bought in all your devices or being able to watch a show or movie in any device you own, or not even being able to make a backup in case your bought DVD doesn't get ruined, is ridiculous.

Republicans defeat Net neutrality proposal | CNET News.com

This story is about how the republicans are basically saying that ISP's including the biggies like verizon and other big cable companies should have the right to anything they see fit on their networks. What does this mean? It means for one if the company offers a service that is like vonage they can block the vonage so it will not work for you. You would be limited to using their service. Or say they offered a streaming video service but you wanted to use another servicem they can say hmm... I want more money so I'm going to block this service from my users so they will use mine.

Chuck Norris Posse Show #01

Hello Folks,

At our first attempt on a podcasting, we will try to cover the most important subjects of "gaming".

First topic on the board will be Guildwars, an MMORPG that is no charge per monthly.
Guildwars puts togeather the gameplay of Player vs Player and Player vs Monster.

Both of these playtypes are outstanding to attempt and try, the storyline is really great when first playing, after you're first level 20 character, it becomes sort of a grind. Which isn't too bad if you just do the storyline again and quickly finish a few questions and what have you.

The PvP playtype, is amazingly compeditive, there are many "builds (which will be discussed later on in the post)" which people try to counter-act and or beat with the same type of "build".

The only bad side of guildwars is the constant grind after you acheive you're level 20 character, and attempt to get gold, Anet the creators of the game have "nerfed" any cheap way to get alot of good stuff quickly. Which is fair, because it was creating an imbalance in the player economy.

The other bad side is the fact that there is no "Open-PvP", Which means that you can't go out into the world and just fight anybody who is there, you have to be in the same "instance" with them.

There are parties of 2/4/6/8
The parties used in Player vs Player, are 4 and 8.
This abundance of players create a certain "build" as mentioned earlier, which creates a balanced group of healers(Monks) vs damage dealers (Elementalist,Necro,Warrior,Ranger)

As the comparison of Guildwars vs World of Warcraft.

I'd like to say that Guildwars beats WoW in the graphics and no monthly fee.

I'd also like to say that WoW beats guildwars in the "Open-PvP" effect and the great amount of skills and combinations of the skills being used?

But then we bring it back to guildwars, and explain that guildwars needs skill to play, it isn't all about having the best item in the game and the most money, its about having the certain skills for that PvP or PvE match.

But the thing I like the most in WoW, are the races! Thats the problem with guildwars, there is one race (Humans), WoW on the other hand has tons of races, elves, orcs, blood elves, tauren, gnomes, and like mages and stuff. ;)
