Could AP kill the “fair use” of article snippets and news as we know it? They are going for it, and you could read the story onWebProNews: The AP’s Desperate Attempt To Outlaw Search Engine Links . And I must say that the majority of comments were in line of my view in regards - instead of damaging their business and fighting what actually brings them traffic and business, they should embrace the changes and invent a new business model. But my guess is that the 1st change should be a big clean-up of their board of directors, and changing the dinosaurs on top with younger leaders. Leaders that go with the times instead of fighting against it.

IE8 - positive reviews about the new tweaks and add-on’s

In a point system from 0 to 10, my vote would be a 7.5 for the IE8 - released officially on the 19th of March 2009. And I did not write about it right away since I wanted to experience it for myself. For one of the best reviews about factors such as performance and browsing efficiency I would suggest you read IE8 focuses on usability on ZNet by Ed Bott.

And as you can imagine - Windows haters were there immediately to cast their “-” vote for the article, and IE8. But I am not into starting a war and promote one browser while placing myself against the others. But since I have never been a user of Firefox, except for trying it out, or Safari, or Opera - for now I will remain with IE8 on the Vista Ultimate 64 bit.

IE8 is available for Windows XP, and the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows Server 2003.
Users testing the beta release of Windows 7 should not install IE8 over the version that is included with that platform, Microsoft warned, as there are some differences in the code - as in the article of vnunet.com.

Membership Sites and What is Their Use?

If you are an active Internet Marketer than you most probably have a subscription, or two, or even more than two for a membership site. And most of these have their fair use, and do indeed help their subscriber with either new video’s, or ebooks, or webinars on a monthly, or a weekly bases. Than most of these have also a forum where the members do meet and exchange tips and tricks with each other, and there is also the possibility for a joint venture and some link exchanges. However even if you are new online and have no online business, or a site earning you some cash, a membership site could be right for you.

Our own Computerized Spirit Membership is probably a very useful addition for you if you are pursuing any business online. Next to the ridiculously low price it’s use is in the fact that you will receive re-sellable products almost every day. However go ahead and see for yourself what the membership has all ready for you and imagine what you could achieve with it. Be it new subscribers for your offer or blog, or maybe for your ezine, or creating a site around one of the topics and having the product to offer right at the beginning… The possibilities are endless, and there is no need for more talk about it here.

The Canonical Tag Announcement - commented…

Yesterday I watched the video with Matt Cutts explaining the Canonical Tag on Web Pro News, and that it will be employed by all of the three search engine giants - Yahoo, Google and Microsoft.

What struck me is probably the different opinions in the comments of the above post and how Google and the other two SE’s are missing the point - my own opinion. How can the “cesspool” be cleaned up while the Canonical Tag only gives the possibility to avoid duplicate content indexed on your own sites. And what about all the scrapers and thieves of content - being the 1st and biggest cause of duplicate content online? Why haven’t the Big 3 addressed this problem to begin with?

Would love to hear your opinions and will you start implementing the Canonical Tag any time soon?

Twitter + Blogging = TwitBlogs

On Twitter you may find that the 140 message limit is a little restricting. Or you may want to add videos and pictures to your posts ? TwitBlogs is your solution.

TwitBlogs is a tool without the 140 character limitation. There is support for image tags, embed tags (for videos) and the option to enter the URL of an image or audio file and have that included in your post. Also you can Tweet from a tab on the posting screen!

TwitBlogs is very useful tool. We like it. Also one of the coolest features, it displayes your twitter style!

McKremie Host Non-profit Websites

I just read on theWHIR.com that McKremie has now started to provide public schools and nonprofits free web hosting. This couldn’t come at a better time for the economy as many non-profit business struggle. Kudos to McKremie for doing something decent with their business.

After I started looking at the McKremie web site I found out that they specialize in wordpress web hosting. As an owner of a blog it’s important to find companies that focus so much on blogs in the hosting sector. They use Fantastico which makes installing a new wordpress blog super easy. All you need to do is click a few buttons and the database and the blog software all set up themselves. It’s so easy anyone can set up a blog within minutes.

The web hosting industry has been a busy industry for quite some time. It’s hard for people to stand out when there is so many other web host. I think by specializing in specific area will help some web host more than others.

BlogRush Is Shutting Down

BlogRush launched by internet marketer John Reese in 2007 has shut down today.

BlogRush service delivered links via a widget placed on each participating blog, with users getting link exposure on other blogs based on how many impressions the widget had on their own sites. The service was highly popular among SEO and internet marketing blogs.

In an email sent to Blogrush owners and posted on the Blogrush site, Reese states that the service wasn’t meeting its full potential after a number of issues over time, including quality control and attempts to game the system. Reese notes that no attempts had been made to monetize the service, and that they weren’t interested in selling it.

The Real Britney on Twitter

Britney Spears (or her people) have launched Twitter account and a website.

The website doesn’t appear to have original content from Britney, other than the teleprompted videos.

It’s also music free, which sort of seems to remove the point of visiting. She should embed some music from Imeem or iLike and get paid for all those streams. And link to Amazon or iTunes for downloads. Maybe a few less of the site visitors would use BitTorrent for all their music needs.

Tatango - Send Group Voice Messages

Tatango is a website that allows users to send text messages to groups, now have a new feature for making phone calls. Users can now opt to record a voice message and then send it to one of their groups. Recipients then receive a text alerting them to the new message, and can reply with “CALL,” which will in turn dial the user and relay the voice recording.

Tatango Voice offers a free business model. In other words, if you want free service, all of your calls will include advertisements before the voice message is heard by recipients, but for a monthly fee, you can have the advertising removed. Free group texts include a 30 character advertisement at the end.

Google’s Blog Search Updated

Google launched the new home page for their blog search. Now you can search the most interesting stories very easy. Now Blog Search is showing categories on the left side of the website and organizing the blog posts within those categories into clusters, which are groupings of posts about the same story or event. Grouping them in clusters lets you see the best posts on a story or get a variety of perspectives. When you look within a cluster, you’ll find a collection of the most interesting and recent posts on the topic, along with a timeline graph that shows you how the story is gaining momentum in the blogosphere.
