Porting Digital Memory

A feasibility analysis of neural interfaces and controllersAs human neural networks and electronic digital networks converge there is some debate over how to best move data from neural to digital formats. Since the human brain is equipped with high-resolution sensory organs, there are many obvious routes for digital-to-neural input, but organic systems lack sufficient neural outputs for porting thoughts, memories, and dreams directly to digital memory

Duality of Technological progress

What is the Duality of Technological progress? Static technology?

For 60 years there has been little progress in increasing a vehicles miles per gallon. the first cars rolled off the assembly line getting about 25 MPG. I remember reading in High School how someone in Australia had increased the rotary engine MPG output to 100 MPG. It makes me wonder if we will ever see the below on our roads.

Record-breaking 10,382mpg car could go from NY to LA on a liter of fuel

This is truly a great article on dualism. But remember don’t believe everything you read.

It seems to me that based on the article we are all denialists. So, do we only really trust scientists? What about the supposed scientists who don't agree with other scientists. How do we know a supposed scientist from a scientist?
Or even better yet if we are to trust government then all the tea partiers are denialists. Democrats and Republicans are denialists.

Okay the article was only talking about denying science but doesn't government make all decisions based on science and the good of the people?

Well sometimes I wonder if I should believe everything I read or see. I suppose if its on Oprah it has to be real.

I also just came across a show called the Dollhouse from FOX. Very interesting show on human memory / computer memory integration and mind control. It starts out slow but I loved the program where a deceased woman with money comes back for a short period of time in another persons body. The bodies are only for hire. Well at least until we can clone people.

Duality of Abortion IV

2010-05-20T16:30:00.000-06:00

Dualtiy of abortion? Sterilization?

Duality of population control? Designer baby production?

Here is another fearful article as serious as climate control. (The articles words not mine).

But before we worry maybe we should look at the dualities?

Advantages / Disadvantage
Less population growth? / Extinction?
Promotes designer babies? / Only the rich can re-produce?
Designer babies will be engineeered better in many ways? / Only the rich can reproduce?
More beautiful people in the world? / People that all look the same?

The infertility timebomb: Are men facing rapid extinction?

Professor Niels Skakkebaek, of the University of Copenhagen, describes the issue 'as important as global warming'. Last week, one science writer even suggested, in starkly terrifying terms, that if scientists from Mars were to study the male reproductive system, they would possibly conclude that man was destined for rapid extinction.
And if it continues, this trend could indicate men are on a path to becoming completely infertile within a few generations.

When I was just out of highscool I remember people looking at me funny when I would say that man would eventually create life. Most people looked at me crazy and in order to even move forward with this conversation I would have to discuss the definiton of life. Its a good thind my best friend understood me.
What is duality of life? Death?

I would ask, what if a computer was programmed to eventually die at any age and that it should try to find a way to not die or find a way to avoid that virus that will kill it. It could transplant chips and such but eventually it would die.

Well this is usually as far as I got so I stopped talking about it to avoid the looks.

So if we introduce the molecular computer can I bring up this topic again?

“Like Neurons in the Brain”: A Molecular Computer That Evolves

The reaction I received 25 years ago with people is strikingly similar to the looks I get now when I tell people we will be immortal. If I am lucky I can get them to answer the question on whether they would rather be immortal on earth or heaven.

Oh and of course it is these experiences in life that make it easy to understand why no one will ever follow this blog.

People just dont think this way I guess

I have talked about intersex and feminization of boys and such but this one just about rocked me when I saw it:

I definitely believe that most duality has gray areas but not sure I buy that boys and girls are immediately gay and require social learning to not be so. But in the world of duality I guess this must also be a viable explanation. I love his boldness!!

Report: Brazil bishop says kids spontaneously gay

"We know that the adolescent is spontaneously homosexual. Boys play with boys, girls play with girls," he said. "If there is no proper guidance, this sticks. The question is — how are we going to educate our children to use a sexuality that is human and suitable?"

Grings also said the acceptance of homosexuality in society could pave the way for the acceptance of pedophilia.

"When sexuality is trivialized, it's clear that this is going to affect all cases. Homosexuality is such a case. Before, the homosexual wasn't spoken of. He was discriminated against.

"When we begin to say they have rights, rights to demonstrate publicly, pretty soon, we'll find the rights of pedophiles," he said.

What is the duality of memory? Absence of memory?

Absence of memory doesn’t exist just because you can’t access it (forgot), so that can’t be it. So maybe memory is just one of those non duality concepts. Memory can be marked by time but does not exist at a point in time. Memory can be created but can it actually be killed. If we die does the memory die as well? I suppose if the memory was viewed by someone else it would not die but it would not be the exact memory. What about those memories that no one else experienced with you. Did you tell someone about this memory? Does that make the memory different and thus not the memory itself? Did the memory get augmented? Did you make it better when you told someone about it?

This one little paragraph was spawned by the first 7 seconds of the below video.

The first seven seconds could make an argument for that brain to computer interface (integration) that stores all your memory for you and actually receives all the information you want. Yes I know sounds like the Matrix with a new feature. Memory storage.

Duality of Data

2010-05-15T16:30:00.002-06:00

What is the duality of Data? Is it its perceived metric?

I work with data and in the duality of this world I have realized that data does one of two things it gives you information or it creates additional questions or like all good things somewhere in between.

So what is the metric on unemployment telling us? Does it create more questions or does it give us information. What happens however when it is gives you information that’s questionable and questions that are informational?

The questions that provide information are:
How is it calculated? What is it truly measuring?

I don’t know the true answer to this question but the following metric seems to be more informational and less questionable.

Safety or Privacy: New Technology Will Make Us Choose

Before decrying the excesses of Big Brother, civil libertarians should give this concept some consideration. However legitimate one’s opposition to the “surveillance state,” the thinking person ought to concede three unassailable truths: 1) there are tens of thousands — perhaps hundreds of thousands — of individuals throughout this world who consider it a solemn religious obligation to destroy American cities; 2) these individuals are sincere in their warped convictions and determined to pursue their heinous objective; they cannot be deterred or dissuaded; 3) these individuals will soon have the atomic means to achieve their apocalyptic ends — likely within the decade, certainly within most of our lifetimes.

A new topic on Quantum mechanics.

When is helium not a gas and what quantum abilitites does it take on?

Quantum wonders: Superfluids and supersolids

Superfluid helium climbs up walls and flows uphill in defiance of gravity. It squeezes itself through impossibly small holes. It flips the bird at friction: put superfluid helium in a bowl, set the bowl spinning, and the helium sits unmoved as the bowl revolves beneath it. Set the liquid itself moving, though, and it will continue gyrating forever.

What is the dualtiy of the North Pole? The North Pole? No this is not a post to support the doomsday sayers.

From National Geographic:

Earth's Core, Magnetic Field Changing Fast, Study Says

The changes "may suggest the possibility of an upcoming reversal of the geomagnetic field," said study co-author Mioara Mandea, a scientist at the German Research Centre for Geosciences in Potsdam.

Earth's magnetic field has reversed hundreds of times over the past billion years, and the process could take thousands of years to complete.
