Rep. Peter King: “Ted Cruz has no business running?” Really?

Ted Cruz has no business running? Really? Republican Representative Peter King has said that Cruz is a “carnival barker with a big mouth who has no business running for President”!

Because he steadfastly defends our Constitution and freedom of religion, wants to secure our border and would like to see the IRS and Common Core ended, you think he has no business running? I’m guessing that you never mentioned that one Barack Hussein Obama had no business running for President.

Cruz is not a viable candidate because he, like Obama, has not been in Congress any longer than Obama was and he was never a Governor? That is what is being said by some. Let’s see who is more qualified.

A background check is in order. Barack Obama has a past which is very sketchy. There are no former girlfriends who have come forward.

There are almost no photos of his time in school except for those showing him as part of a choom gang, or sitting on a sofa with his friend from Pakistan while he was a college student. There is no available college transcript, leading some to think that he either had terrible grades, or was a foreign student.

After college, he became a Saul Alinsky believer and a community organizer. As such his job was to teach others how to protest against many things, organizing them for action against evil Capitalists. This included protesting banks which were not giving mortgages to those who had no way to pay them back.

Obama came out of obscurity to become our President, based on his so-called soaring rhetoric and his call for “fundamental change”. No one really asked what that change would entail. We have learned that it includes spitting in the eye of the Constitution, more government, more income redistribution, more money to Americans with their hands out, and more control over all Americans.

Just who is Ted Cruz? His former college professor, the famous Alan Dershowitz, has called him off-the-charts brilliant. He had a stellar career as a litigator, and was the youngest Solicitor General in the United States. He was an adjunct professor of law at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, where he taught Supreme Court litigation.

Obama was never the professor he claimed to be. Cruz clerked for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. He argued before the Supreme Court nine times. He won an award for the “Best Brief Award by the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG), for U.S. Supreme Court briefs in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007”

He has served two years in the U.S. Senate, never backing down from the causes in which he believes. The fact that he has not been able to convince his fellow Republicans to go along with him does not mean that he is wrong, or is not a leader. A leader will take an opposing position just because it is the right thing to do. It sometimes takes time to convince people to have the courage to join the fight.

Liberals and leftists will condemn Cruz for stating so boldly that our rights come not from government, but from God. Chris Christie is saying the same thing. Cruz has been condemned for announcing his candidacy in a place that does not include those who are non-believers. He added that he thinks God is not done with us. Thankfully he is not talking about the presumption that “Islam has been woven into the fabric of our country since its founding”, as did Barack Obama.

The National Review, a more conservative journal, wrote about Cruz’s “tone” while speaking. Now it is all about the “tone” and not the content? It seems people on both sides will find something not to like about Ted Cruz.

The important thing, while we debate whether he is a “natural born” citizen, is that he brings a boldly stated conservative message to the debate. While we have lamented that Republican candidates have in the past refused to make a strong argument in defense of their positions, we are watching Ted Cruz tell it like it is. It is refreshing and exciting.

Quite apart from whether he is eligible or wins the nomination, he will make the campaign and debates much more informative.

In between fund-raising trips, the American President walked to the podium Monday and promised there would be consequences if the Russian president continued to make vicious mischief in the wake of a horrific mass murder that he almost surely aided and abetted.

He scolded the Russian-backed, Russian-trained and Russian-armed separatists, who have been busy “removing bodies from the crash site, oftentimes without the care that we would normally expect from a tragedy like this,” adding: [Are you laughing out load as I am? He calls this a tragedy, as if no one CAUSED it to happen, and then expects the thug terrorists who did this to actually use CARE in handling the aftermath! You just can't make this stuff up!]

“This is the kind of behavior that has no place in the community of nations.” And he warned that, “If Russia continues to violate Ukraine’s sovereignty . . . the costs for Russia’s behavior will only continue to increase.”

The Stanford University study found that charter public schools had significantly more "economically disadvantaged" students than traditional public schools.

Dev Davis, research manager at CREDO at Stanford University, said they found that 70 percent of the charter students were economically disadvantaged, meaning they were eligible for free or reduced price meals. She said 55 percent of the traditional public school students were economically disadvantaged.

Why is the EPA altering state boundaries in Wyoming - and reversing over 100 years of established law? Well, apparently the city of Riverton now falls under the jurisdiction of the Wind River Indian Reservation. Unions oppose bipartisan effort to keep criminals out of public schools

– Federal lawmakers want to prevent schools from employing convicted sex offenders, kidnappers, murderers, pornographers, spouse beaters and rapists.

Public schools would be barred from employing teachers and other workers convicted of sexual offenses against children or other violent crimes under a bill the House approved Tuesday.

The bill has run into objections from major teachers' unions like the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers. In letters to lawmakers, their criticisms included concerns that the measure might jeopardize workers' protections under union contracts.

Pat Jones, principal of Alliance High School in Alliance, Nebraska, took it upon himself to cancel the daily recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in his school citing the partial government shutdown begun by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's refusal to consider a single GOP proposal to keep the government funded. The first part of the assignment was for students to read President Barack Obama’s 2009 Inauguration Address. Then they had to answer the “Big Question.” And what WAS the “Big Question”?? “How will President Obama make our country more secure. What role does he see our country playing in the world.”

But along the way he raises the taboo question of whether we “label boys as mentally unstable, behaviorally unmanageable, academically underachieving, in need of special-education services, or displaying behavior warranting school suspension just because their behavior deviates noticeably from that of the average girl?”

He adds, “In a sense, girl behavior has become the standard by which we judge all kids.”

Sixth-grade children in a history class in the Bryant School District in Arkansas (whose website brags that the district "has embraced" Common Core standards) were assigned a project to update the U.S. Bill of Rights because it is "outdated." They were instructed to "prioritize, revise, omit two and add two amendments."

The written assignment is full of lies, such as "the government of the United States is currently revisiting the Bill of Rights"; that "They (presumably the government) have determined that it is outdated and may not remain in its current form any longer;" and that our Constitution can be changed by a "National Revised Bill of Rights Task Force (NRBR)" (to which students could be appointed).

Students were presented with the "lifeboat situation": too many people are in the sinking lifeboat and the students were ordered to choose whose lives are not worth saving and should be thrown overboard so the lifeboat won't sink. Zaner-Bloser, which is based in Columbus, Ohio, is distributing a lesson plan aimed at teaching second-graders about “equality” by highlighting labor issues, according to Education Action Group Foundation, a non-partisan organization that looks to promote education reform.

As part of the plan, students spend a week reading “Harvesting Hope,” a book about Chavez written by children’s author Kathleen Krull, and then discuss what the lesson plan calls “scales of fairness,” which compare the living conditions of farm workers to that of land owners.

“Why are we teaching organized labor lessons to young children?” asked Kyle Olson, the publisher of the group’s website. “Isn’t there a simpler way to teach about fairness, like saying it’s not fair if Johnny works all day and gets one piece of candy while Jimmy plays video games all day and gets the same piece of candy?” “Our focus is on distinctive programs that inspire all students to become engaged, literate participants in the global society.”

Just why am I posting these stories for you to read? I am trying to convince you that you need to take an active role in learning just what your children are being taught. You need to stand up for what is right, to demonstrate to your children that you are willing to take a stand against progressive education.

A classroom of 14 and 15-year-old Illinois high school students were assigned the task of deciding the fate of ten fictional characters in an exercise that critics called a lesson in death panels.

The assignment was part of a sociology unit for freshmen and sophomore students at St. Joseph-Ogden High School and was first reported by writer Lenny Jarratt.

The lesson involves 10 people who are in desperate need of kidney dialysis.But there’s a problem. The local hospital only has enough machines to support six patients. “That means four people are not going to live,” the assignment states. “You must decide from the information below which six will survive.” [Preparing our children for serving on Death Panels, perhaps? This ought to make them feel oh, so safe.]

“The first thing I thought was they were desensitizing kids to death panels,” he told me. “They are preparing them for it.”

Principal Brian Brooks told me that assessment is way off base. “The assignment has nothing to do with a ‘Death Panel,’” he said. He said the purpose of the lesson was to teach students about social values and how people in our society unfortunately create biases based off of professions, race and gender.

Utah parents charged with vetting Common Core tests being sworn to secrecy

[I shall start this day with a question: At any time that a government shuts down due to Congressional disputes, would not the logical reaction be finding the things that are the LEAST painful, and cut those? What other President, through the 18 other government shutdowns, went this route of punishing the people for the arguments in Congress? What President before has ever been so obviously vindictive and dis respectful of "the folks" as Obama likes to call us? I await word of another President's behavior matching this one's. The latest malicious act against the American public comes via the National Park Service. We now learn the NPS is actually sending federal agents out on trails and into parks to physically remove water spigots.

It what looks like a spiteful move, the NPS even removed handles from water spigots along the Chesapeake and Ohio canal where bikers and joggers exercise as well as along the Great Allegheny Passage, just to ensure people don’t get any water from them.

Nearly two dozen people have been issued citations for entering Grand Canyon National Park after a partial government shutdown forced its closure.

Grand Canyon Chief Ranger Bill Wright says some people have been caught at the South Rim, on trails, attempting rim-to-rim hikes or trying to sneak in through dirt roads.

Many people signing up for health care in Florida through the Affordable Care Act have been shocked when they have to give proof of their credit score before they finish the process.

Anne Packham, one of many people licensed by the state to help people navigate the government's website, said on Tuesday that the credit check occurs so providers can make an educated decision about who to insure.

[THE NEWEST SCANDAL]: The Diplomatic Security Service, or the DSS, is the State Department's security force, charged with protecting the secretary of state and U.S. ambassadors overseas and with investigating any cases of misconduct on the part of the 70,000 State Department employees worldwide.

CBS News' John Miller reports that according to an internal State Department Inspector General's memo, several recent investigations were influenced, manipulated, or simply called off. The memo obtained by CBS News cited eight specific examples. Among them: allegations that a State Department security official in Beirut "engaged in sexual assaults" on foreign nationals hired as embassy guards and the charge and that members of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's security detail "engaged prostitutes while on official trips in foreign countries" -- a problem the report says was "endemic."

He [Jeff Sessions] also read from a Feb. 7 article in The Hill that revealed the behind-the-scenes role of countries such as Mexico, El Salvador and Ireland, all of which have large number of citizens living in the United States illegally.

“Even foreign countries have had a say in drafting our [Immigration] law,” Sessions said. “Well, the law officers weren't in the room. We know that.”

"This bill would provide a pathway to earned citizenship for the 11 million individuals who are already in this country illegally--a pathway that includes passing a background check, learning English, paying taxes and a penalty, and then going to the back of the line behind everyone who's playing by the rules and trying to come here legally,” Obama said.

While that claim would quell a lot of criticism of the bill if it were true, it simply is not accurate.

No, Holder’s signature is not ideology; it is incompetence. He has spent five years learning from mistakes. It has been an expensive education.

Students at the University of Colorado – Boulder (UCB) signed an enormous thank you card to the Internal Revenue Service for its apparent harassment of conservative groups during the lead-up to President Obama’s reelection.

In the viral video, posted on YouTube Tuesday, conservative pundit Caleb Bonham asked students to sign the large card that read “Thank you IRS! Tea Party Deserves it!”

“I’m asking people if they want to sign my board thanking the IRS for targeting conservative tea party and religious organizations,” Bonham explained in the video.

Several students enthusiastically added signatures and personal messages.

A New Kind of Problem: The Common Core Math Standards

A set of guidelines adopted by 45 states this year may turn children into "little mathematicians" who don't know how to do actual math.

They implemented Common Core this year in our school system in Tennessee. I have a third grader who loved math and got A's in math until this year, where he struggles to get a C. He struggles with "explaining" how he got his answer after using "mental math." In fact, I had no idea how to explain it! It's math 2+2=4. I can't explain it, it just is.

The second email came from a teacher in another state:

I am teaching the traditional algorithm this year to my third graders, but was told next year with Common Core I will not be allowed to. They should use mental math, and other strategies, to add. Crazy! I am so outraged that I have decided my child is NOT going to public schools until Common Core falls flat.

Let's look first at the 97 pages of what are called "Content Standards." Many of these standards require that students to be able to explain why a particular procedure works. It's not enough for a student to be able to divide one fraction by another. He or she must also "use the relationship between multiplication and division to explain that (2/3) ÷ (3/4) = 8/9, because 3/4 of 8/9 is 2/3."

It's an odd pedagogical agenda, based on a belief that conceptual understanding must come before practical skills can be mastered. As this thinking goes, students must be able to explain the "why" of a procedure. Otherwise, solving a math problem becomes a "mere calculation" and the student is viewed as not having true understanding.

1) Many scientists realize that Planet Earth has had many Ice Ages and Global Warming, every 10,000 years, during its 4.5 billion years of existence. Since we have not been keeping track of weather for billions of years, we cannot really say that what is happening now is anything new. The scientists "fixed" their data by starting their study just when the Earth was finished with the last cold spell and was starting to warm up again. The way a computer program is set up helps to get the results desired. Man was not alive when the first global warming occurred, so he did not cause the global warming in the past, and may contribute very little to it now. "You can't fool Mother Nature", meaning that warm and icy cycles are normal. That's Mother Earth for you! So don't be scared by what you might learn at school about it being all our fault.
2) These environmental laws might destroy our economy.
3) Windmills don't work when the wind stops, they kill many birds, they make people living nearby sick, they heat the ground and they create more greenhouse gases than they save.
4) Those fancy new lightbulbs that we are encouraged and forced to buy are actually dangerous. You must stay 2-3 feet away from the bulb because being closer may damage your skin! They contain mercury, so if a bulb breaks we must get out of the room in a hurry and have an expert come to clean it up, because mercury is dangerous. Just think how these burned out bulbs will harm our landfills.
5) Electric cars can only go 40 miles, and they pollute the Earth more while they are being produced than a gasoline-run car will during its lifetime. The energy used to recharge the car adds more pollutants to our air than just driving a normal car.
6) An Ice Age may have actually begun. Shhh! Those who make money and tax you because of of Global Warming don't want you to know!
7) Ethanol is made of corn and soy beans. Making us use Ethanol in our cars reduces the amount of corn we have to feed humans. Others in this World accuse us of starving their citizens because they now do not have enough food. Destroying grasslands to plant more corn and soybeans destroys key breeding grounds for ducks and other wildlife and also puts more carbon into the air. Massive amounts of water are used in the making of ethanol.
8) Government has mandated low-flow shower heads, and low water use by our toilets. This causes us to take longer showers and to flush twice.
9) America has the largest reserves of gas and oil in the world. Our President won't allow us to go get it. So we buy our oil from our enemies, making them richer.
10) Surprise! There are far more polar bears in Alaska now. They just moved to a different location. And the moose in Alaska love to hang out near the Alaska Pipeline, because it is a little warmer there.
11) Scientists have a reason to promote Manmade Global Warming, for they get millions of dollars in research funds to study it. Nay-sayers get none.
12) In 2002, a room of the Smithsonian displayed one entire wall charting the cooling of our globe over the last 60 million years. Science magazine in 1975 predicted "a full-blown, 10,000 year ice age".
13) Stoking panic about warming helps get some politicians reelected.
14) Greenland, which might be warming a bit now, was once green! Our planet MAY have a temperature increase of .1%, if that.
15) China pollutes the planet so much that what little we can do makes almost no difference.
16) The scientific community manipulated data and destroyed evidence in order to "prove" themselves right, and this was dubbed the Climategate scandal. Learn about it.
17) 30,000 scientists are considering suing Al Gore for fraud

Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius was criticized last week for soliciting private contributions to Enroll America, a non-governmental organization run by former Obama campaign operatives.

The real monkey business is what the secretary is doing with taxpayers' money — pouring it into community organizations.

The pretext is that community organizations will do a better job than government employees in enrolling the uninsured in ObamaCare. But the likelihood is that these community organizations will steer the uninsured into the Democratic Party.

And beware. The Senate immigration bill tries to repeat this unsavory use of community organizations. It pays community organizations to educate immigrants about American civics and the path to citizenship.

When Saudi Arabia announced three months ago that girls as young as 10-years old would now be allowed to marry, Iran decided to drop the age limit even further.

Iranian Christian news service Mohabat News reports a member of the Iranian Parliament (Majiles) Mohammad Ali Isfenani, "we must regard 9 as being the appropriate age for a girl to have reached puberty and qualified to get married. To do otherwise would be to contradict and challenge Islamic Sharia law."

A new survey reveals the dramatically changing face of religion in America, with the number of Muslims in the U.S. soaring 67% in the decade since the 9/11 attacks.

Data released Tuesday from the 2010 U.S. Religion Census shows Islam was the fastest growing religion in America in the last 10 years, with 2.6 million living in the U.S. today, up from 1 million in 2000.

Mormonism too saw remarkable growth, with a 45% increase in adherents. It added nearly 2 million members since 2000, bringing their number in the U.S. to 6.1 million.

Barack Obama and his Culture of Corruption

Our President stated while campaigning, “We’re gonna punish our enemies and we’re gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us”, and “voting is your best revenge”. The culture of Barack Hussein Obama’s Administration was so well laid out with these directives that they are being faithfully executed without his even having to ask for them to be.

Barack Obama pledged that “transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency.” With all due disrespect to Nancy Pelosi, I am also recalling that she declared that Republicans in Congress at one time were plagued by a “culture of corruption at the expense of the American people.”

President Barack Hussein Obama and his “culture of corruption” have exceeded even that of the Nixon Administration. It is fascinating that the media, who have covered for his every misstep and made excuses for every instance in which he has thwarted both Congress and the Constitution, should all of a sudden wake up and complain, because this time it is they who have been wronged when the Department of Justice wiretapped the phones of the AP. That changes everything. Now they are angry and seem to be more ready to actually investigate instead of just repeating everything they are told by a classic prevaricator. As pastor Martin Niemöller said, in part, in the time of Germany’s takeover by Hitler, (and no, I am not accusing Obama of genocide):

“First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me.”

Our President grew up being indoctrinated in the belief that America is not a good country. He says of his time in Indonesia where he studied the Koran, “I was a little Jakarta street kid.” He has exclaimed that the sound of the Islamic Call to Prayer is “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.” It is certain that he was not taught to love America while being educated in an Infidel-hating country and culture.

When back in America he admittedly chose his friends in college by picking out the most radical ones; he spent decades attending the church of a man who famously preached "God d___ America!", saying after 9/11 that our "chickens had come home to roost"; and he befriended a Weather Underground member, Bill Ayers, who bombed public buildings to protest the Viet Nam War. He worked as a Community Organizer, using Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals.

Once elected President, he appointed a long list of his radical friends to recognized government posts including the Cabinet. He also appointed many of them as his Czars, who are not authorized nor overseen by Congress. In those positions they wrote many new rules and regulations, many against the direct votes of Congress. They were following in the footsteps of their leader, who has repeatedly countermanded the votes of Congress by writing his many Executive Orders.

It has become believable that our President, having placed his appropriately radical friends in powerful positions, did not need to be told of everything they do. In fact he didn’t want to know what they were doing. What better way to be able to say, “I don’t know anything about that!” That he tells bald-faced lies to defend his own actions has been repeatedly proven. It’s as if he doesn’t know that audio and video of his speeches exist. This same President who recently told The Ohio State University graduates that they should reject those who warn of government tyranny is now embroiled in actions which can only be described as government tyranny. Our government is attempting to intimidate those of us who do not agree with the agenda of Barack Obama. The very definition of tyranny is absolute power, and this President is attempting to have it, going so far as to lament that he is being restrained by the Constitution.

The list of scandals about which Barack Obama is defending himself include but are not limited to:

1) “Fast and Furious”, the gun-running program allowing American guns into Mexico and then losing track of the weapons

2) His secret and personally chosen enemy kill lists

3) The power to indefinitely detain any American he chooses to detain, directly against our Constitution

4) The 4 Benghazi deaths and the “stand down” order given, while falsely blaming an American’s video. Obama’s recent release of “all” emails regarding this subject omitted the emails of the first two days immediately following the deaths in Benghazi. We still do not know what Barack Obama was doing after Hillary Clinton and Leon Panetta were told by him to do what needed to be done.

5) The newly admitted IRS scandal of targeting conservative organizations and the leaking of that private information to the media for their use. This went so far in one case as to demand that a conservative group who trains high school and college students, Lynchpins of Liberty, to divulge the name of every single young person whom they trained. And now our President is threatening any critics in Congress to “treat (the IRS) with the responsibility it deserves and in a way that doesn’t smack of politics or partisan agendas.” Now that’s funny! Add to this intimidation the fact that it is the all-powerful IRS who will monitor us and tax us on Obamacare. The IRS is currently defending a class action lawsuit from companies which claim that the IRS stole more than 60 million medical records of more than 10 million Americans.

6) And last but not least is the newest scandal - the DOJ tapping the phones of AP reporters, and allegedly the phones in our House of Representatives' cloak room as well.

All of this can be expected when a President so carefully chooses his Administration members that he does not have to lead them at all. He just lets them do what he knows they will do, and he can thus try to keep his hands clean. He is either lying again, he is an Empty Suit, or he is unwilling, uninterested or unable to actually control his own Administration.

To the Petoskey News Review: The recent Guest Commentary by your former Editor Kendall Stanley begs for a response from a conservative who believes in the following statement by President Gerald Ford: "A government big enough to give you everything you need is big enough to take from you everything you have". Stanley offends conservatives by saying that "Republicans have shown us they don't care about health care and there is nothing to be gained by even attempting to reform the system". His insinuation that those who don't believe that Universal Health Care is the answer are somehow deficient in either intellect or humanity, or both, is offensive. After eliminating illegal aliens, those who turn down employer offered insurance and those who have failed to enroll in Medicaid and S Chip, we come to a more reasonable number needing government aid, and they could receive health care in free clinics and emergency rooms across this land. Care, not insurance, is key. The notion that this health care bill will still fail to cover 10 million people while controlling the health care policies and care of ALL Americans is proof enough that this is about more than health care. It is about an ever-expanding and controlling government which results in the loss of liberty for Americans.

The idea that Republicans are so morally challenged that they should be excluded even from the debate and legislation which affects 16% of our economy defies the fact that Congress works for ALL the people, not just for those who currently hold the majority. In a Constitutional Republic, the majority does not rule as a Dictator does. 85% of Americans actually like their current health care plans, and 61% are not in favor of Obamacare. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are rife with fraud. Fixing these problems would require no new laws. We may like our current Medicare, but it, like Medicaid and Social Security, is nearly bankrupt.

Speaking about the expense of the bill is no “guise. We will be taxed for 4 years prior to receiving any benefits, while continuing to pay for our current insurance. Who could believe that this proposed bill can insure up to 30 million more citizens with apparently no additional cost? Another section of the bill calls for 111 new government agencies, for which we will have to pay for office space, salaries, and pensions.

As to the stated “guise” of “death panels”, Sarah Palin referred to certain sections of the legislation as such to bring attention to the probable results of the bill. The Comparative Effectiveness Research “panel”, for instance, will decide which medical care is worthy of coverage. Dr. Ekzekiel Emanuel, Obama’s health care adviser, has pertinent beliefs, giving us insight into what Obama has in mind with this bill. Emanuel has said: "Doctors take the Hippocratic Oath too seriously". And, "The youngest and oldest of us with poor prognoses should have their chances at further life attenuated (weakened)". As Obama has coached us, “Don’t tell me words don’t matter. Just words…” Death Panel as a euphemism for the lack of good care is one that can be demonstrated by the facts.

Obamacare is steering care away from private insurers toward government control. Obama's promise that we would be able to keep our current insurance was perhaps true - until and unless we get a new job. At that time we will be forced onto the government plan. Meanwhile many employers are refusing to employ more than 50 people, just to avoid the government penalty of not providing insurance, while other companies are deciding to drop their insurance in favor of paying the fines instead. I ask again just why, if health CARE is the goal, that Obama did not declare that government will provide for the care or insurance of those who are NOT currently covered. Of course, the answer is that Barack Obama and his Progressives want to have the control over Americans.

Cuts of $400 billion are recommended for Medicare, producing several results: some doctors will retire or stop seeing Medicare patients because of the reductions in reimbursements for their services. Some hospitals, especially those in small communities such as ours, will be most vulnerable to cuts in payments. This could certainly ration care for us all.

To say that Republicans don’t favor malpractice suits is outrageous, nearly libelous, and patently ignorant of the facts.

Rarely have I seen such a biased, derogatory and factually compromised opinion as this one. Words do matter, indeed.

I continue to learn the news for myself, and as usual I like to keep track of the patterns and actions of this Administration over time. With that in mind, I wrote the following well researched column. It always amazes me as to how much this President is trying to do to America. - Conservative Corner

Observations of Obama and Democrats in Congress since his reelection:

1) President Obama touted Obamacare as the cure for some “folks” not having health insurance. In truth, it is fraught with problems, including the recently learned fact that due to a “glitch”, many families who can't afford the employer coverage that they are offered on the job will not be able to get financial assistance from the government to buy private health insurance on their own. In addition about 7 million Americans will just lose their employer-provided insurance. Unions which back Obama are now surprised to learn that new health care premiums are surprisingly high. Our government is having trouble finding people who will agree to sit on the 15-member Death Panels mandated by Obamacare. Who would want to be underpaid to have their names on the regulations that ration care? The law states that taxpayer-financed subsidies can only be funneled through state-based exchanges, and not through federal ones. Since 26 states have refused to create the health care exchanges upon which the whole law depends, the whole law is in trouble.

2) President Obama formed his Jobs Council so that he could look so caring and so involved in job creation during the election cycle. He has now disbanded the Jobs Council after having met with them only once in the last year, even though unemployment remains high (youth unemployment is 13%) and economic activity is so low as to have some predicting a double-dip recession. As companies either reduce employees’ hours to part time, or only hire part time workers in order to avoid the Obamacare tax, employees are being harmed and our President will once again pretend to care. He does, however, continue to expand the number of government jobs.

3) In the recent fiscal cliff deal, Obama crowed that he got the Republicans to back down by raising the amount Americans can earn without being “evil” from $250,000 to $400,000. He thereby got a lot more money to spend without having to outline proposed budget cuts or passing a budget. He seems not to have noticed the Republican victory: the “evil” Bush Tax Cuts are now permanent for 99% of Americans.

4) During his first month in office in 2009, Obama signed an Executive Order to close Gitmo within one year. Following his reelection, he has closed the office which was tasked to close the prison down.

5) President Obama hid from us one of the first items on his agenda if he were to be reelected: gun control. His approach, however, will not keep guns from the hands of criminals, but will infringe on the Constitutional rights of law-abiding Americans. As former Detroit News columnist Bill Johnson wrote, “The unintended consequences of weapon-control requirements could actually trigger a reduction in registrations and increase guns purchased via the underground market. They would not affect the criminal use of guns, or the ability of the criminally insane to get their hands on a weapon of their choice.

6) During his gun control speech, Obama said that if it keeps just one child from dying, gun control is necessary, that it is the number one duty of a President to protect children. We should ask, however, why it is not his duty then to prevent the killing of hundreds of thousands of children via abortion. He defends the practice of partial birth abortions, as well as letting those children who survive abortion attempts to just be put in a hospital closet and left to die, as his votes as an Illinois Senator prove. I will add that it is my understanding that the first job of a President is to keep America safe from its enemies.

7) This President also hid from us the fact that one of his first orders of business would be to attack Global Warming as manmade, in spite of there having been warming cycles every 10,000 years during our planet’s history. Democrats on the Capitol Hill Climate Task Force are asking more than 300 companies, including the NFL, Wal-Mart, and the NBA, to submit suggestions for federal actions. At the same time, the UN has admitted that solar flares are responsible for much of global warming, while much of the scare tactics employed by Obama just simply are not true, including that wild fires and hurricanes are more prevalent over the last decades. Currently Obama is proposing to approve the Keystone Pipeline, but only in exchange for Cap and Trade taxation and fees.

8) While spouting that Border Control is of utmost importance, President Obama will on March 15 shut down the Air Force’s Air Defense Radar Systems along the U.S./Mexico border, leaving it more vulnerable to attacks from low flying aircraft and low altitude missiles. This move comes months after his Executive Order which provided amnesty to millions of illegals, in direct conflict with the vote of Congress.

9) During the debates and his campaign, Obama and Democrats pictured the good and decent Mitt Romney as the devil, the filthy rich jobs killer who enabled the death of a woman with cancer. As it turns out, a “filthy rich” man was just named by him to be Secretary of State, John Kerry. Another “filthy rich” man, Jack Lew, was named by him to be Secretary of the Treasury despite the fact that he has bank accounts in the Caymans, just as the evil Mitt Romney does. The jobs Romney “killed” allowed many thousands more to keep their jobs via his Bain Capital investments. While earning money in America never before was evil, it is now evil when done by the “wrong” people. Consider the irony of the Democrats sharing a $40,000 per plate dinner hosted by George Clooney to castigate the evil rich Republicans! During the campaign Romney divulged that GM, which we bailed out, was to be exporting many of its jobs to China. Obama in effect called him a liar. Two months later, it is now public knowledge that GM is outsourcing many jobs to China. Obama’s second largest raiser of funds is the CEO of a company much like Bain - Ariel Capital Management, which owns a large stake in Accenture, which is the nation’s best outsourcer.

10) President Obama, who made radical union-loving appointments to the National Labor Relations Board while Congress was still in session, has just been told by a Federal judge that those actions were unconstitutional. He is ignoring the edict, of course. In jeopardy are not only those people appointed, but the hundreds of regulations they have passed which benefit the unions in America. Many lawsuits, for which we the people will pay, will ensue.

11) President Obama has championed the cause of Muslims while in office. Just this week he and the Democrat Senate approved the sale of F-16 fighter jets, along with the scientific technology inherent in them, to our enemies – the Muslim Brotherhood which largely controls Egypt. This puts the Jews in Israel in much more danger of being annihilated, as Ahmadinajad and other Muslims consistently pledge to do.

12) Federal agencies are required in April and October to release an accounting of proposed legislation which will have a significant economic impact. This President’s administration did not do this until late in December, 2012, thereby hiding from voters what he intended to do.

13) Avoiding disclosure prior to the election, while the law requires a budget to be passed each year, no budget has been passed for three years, because the budget choices in it might have diminished Obama’s and Democrats’ reelection chances.

14) On January 31, 2012, the White House declared that they would now allow non-profit organizations like churches to NOT provide birth control against their religious beliefs. In a move that will fool few people, our government said that the churches will buy the insurance policies and it will be the insurance companies which will provide birth control, not the churches. What? This new edict leaves out the companies owned by Christians, like Hobby Lobby, having to provide coverage or face $1.3 million a day in fines. Lawsuits are proceeding, probably going to the Supreme Court.

15) President Obama has declared that it is ethical and moral for him to have a kill list which includes American citizens, with absolutely no oversight. While his American targets who have become enemy combatants should have no protection from our Constitution, neither should the enemy terrorists who are not American citizens, but that is not how Obama see it. Beyond that, he believes that Congress has no right to approve or judge his decision-making process. Obama condemned in the strongest language the “enhanced interrogation” techniques used at Gitmo, but then declared it is moral to instead just kill possible terrorists without having the chance to gain information from them.

16) The Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution protects us against unreasonable government searches and seizures. However, now within 100 miles of the U.S. border the U.S. government can take an electronic device, search through all the files, and keep it for a while for further scrutiny – without any suspicion of wrongdoing whatsoever. As described on Electron Frontier Foundation: “for doctors, lawyers, and many business professionals, these border searches can compromise the privacy of sensitive professional information, including trade secrets, attorney-client and doctor-patient communications, research and business strategies, some of which a traveler has legal and contractual obligations to protect. For the rest of us, searches that can reach our personal correspondence, health information, and financial records are reasonably viewed as an affront to privacy and dignity and inconsistent with the values of a free society.”

17) A further reach into the right to privacy of Americans, the Obamacare regulation which encourages our doctors to be able to even ask us if we have a gun in our house, will allow our government to put that information into their data base, assisting in this case Barack Obama to add to what Representative Maxine Waters describes as “an organization that contains the kind of database that no one has ever seen before in life. That's going to be very, very powerful.” At this time many school systems are adding the gun question to student surveys. We should warn our children not to answer that question.

18) Barack Obama has now declared that it is the duty of Americans, the “evil rich” to provide for everyone not just a home, but a safe place to live. He says we don’t have a spending problem, we have a revenue problem. Federal agencies shall adopt a consensus on the basic concept of a healthy home: “building off eight characteristics, including dry, clean, pest free, safe, contaminant free, well ventilated, and well maintained and thermally controlled – and encourage adoption of this consensus across federal agencies, tribal governments, state and local governments, and non-governmental organizations.” The evil rich are not through paying. It is only FAIR, don’t you know.
19) Just this week Obama also declared that every 4 year old should have free daycare, even though the statistics prove that Head Start has really not done much good. But so what? It is just the money of the evil rich which will pay for it. It's that income redistribution, and fundamentally changing America agenda.

Today I bid you all farewell, not with news of the day, which I hope you will get each day from http://elephantstrunkandmore.blogspot.com/, but with a rerunning of a column I wrote for the Boyne City Gazette in June of 2011. It describes the Cloward and Piven Strategy. It is my hope that more Americans will bother to learn about this strategy now that we can more easily see that its principles are being accomplished. It is important to the future of our country to understand what is happening before our very eyes.

Never give up the fight for America and her best ideals. Perhaps the ways of our President will show its full measure of harm to us quickly in this term so that we will once again be eager for a change in 2014 and 2016. Perhaps the unengaged and uninformed conservatives will finally rise up. Putting us back together again will be a long and difficult endeavor.

In the 1960s, two radical Columbia University professors, Cloward and Piven, wrote the The Cloward and Piven Strategy, detailing how to force “political change through orchestrated crisis, seeking to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, stressing the system, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.”

The welfare system was the first target of the Cloward and Piven strategy, using violent demonstrations to achieve desired results. In NYC one of every three people ended up on the welfare rolls, sending the city into bankruptcy and turning welfare from a limited-time expectancy into a lifetime entitlement. The drain on local resources persists indefinitely, just as planned.

In 1970 ACORN was established – the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, which has been responsible for widespread criminal activity countrywide. As divulged by Townhall, they successfully used the following Cloward-Piven Strategy to get more Democrat voters:

1. Register as many Democrat voters as possible, legal or otherwise, and help them vote, multiple times if possible.

2. Overwhelm the system with fraudulent registrations using multiple entries of the same name, names of deceased, random names from the phone book, even contrived names.

3. Make the system difficult to police by lobbying for minimal identification standards.

Rules for Radicals, written by Saul Alinsky in 1989, became the go-to book for those interested in fomenting progressive revolution. With the intent to create a crisis, it was suggested: "Pick the Target, Freeze It, Personalize It, Polarize it." Remember these rules while reading current events.

Then along came Barack Hussein Obama, almost out of nowhere. Having been deeply influenced in childhood by his mentor (self-proclaimed Communist Frank Marshall Davis); employed as a community organizer and attorney for ACORN; befriending unrepentant, bomb-throwing Weather Underground's Bill Ayers; and maturing in the thugocracy which is Chicago politics, Obama was uniquely qualified to sell his Hope and Change mantra. "Make the enemy live up to their (sic) own book of rules," Alinsky wrote in his 1989 book Rules for Radicals. “When pressed to honor every word of every law and statute, every Judeo-Christian moral tenet, and every implicit promise of the liberal social contract, human agencies inevitably fall short. The system's failure to "live up" to its rule book can then be used to discredit it altogether, and to replace the capitalist "rule book" with a socialist one.”

Obama openly campaigned for “fundamental change” for America, and Michelle Obama proclaimed: “Barack knows that we are going to have to make sacrifices; we are going to have to change our conversation; we're going to have to change our traditions, our history; we're going to have to move into a different place as a nation." I agree with the President that words, indeed, do matter. Our country is being fundamentally changed as promised: bail-outs; government take-over of private companies; the breaking of legal contracts; stimulus spending mostly on government jobs; an increasing social and socialist agenda in our schools; wildly unpopular government healthcare; Obamacare waivers to many unions; and unemployment compensation now reaching almost two years; higher taxes on the horizon; promotion of amnesty for illegal aliens before border security; federal lawsuits against states; dropping prosecution of blatant Black Panther intimidation at voting centers; and tasking NASA to make Muslims feel better about their historic contribution to science, among others.

We must also remember that Rahm Emanuel, President Obama's Chief-of-Staff, once declared that Rule #1 is to "never let a serious crisis go to waste."

It really doesn't matter if this is coincidental - or if it demonstrates the above strategies in action. Either way, our country is in great crisis! The Socialists are openly demonstrating at various protests in America, for they believe that this is their time. Only we can save our Republic – by educating ourselves, exercising our rights as citizens, and supporting those who believe in American greatness.

In a surprising decision last week that drew little press attention, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, handed the Boy Scouts a victory over a lesbian couple and an agnostic couple. The Ninth Circuit is considered the most liberal appellate court in the land.

The Boy Scouts’ victory came nearly ten years after they were originally sued.

At issue in the case are leases between San Diego and the Boy Scouts which allow the Boy Scouts to build and operate camp grounds and an aquatic center for use by the Scouts and the public. The lesbian and agnostic couples sued even though they had never visited the facilities nor asked to join in scouting activities.

Richard Thompson, TMLC’s President and Chief Counsel, commented:

“The Plaintiff-couples never visited the facilities in question nor did they ask to participate in scout activities. Their sole reason for bringing this lawsuit was because they were offended and outraged by the Boy Scout’s Oath to do his duty to God and his country and to keep himself morally straight. That's the scenario where Congress fails to pass a farm bill to extend agricultural subsidies, which in turn would cause milk prices to soar.
But USDA data shows 2011 milk sales reached their lowest levels since 1984, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Rick Barrett.

Craft store giant Hobby Lobby is bracing for a $1.3 million a day fine beginning January 1 for noncompliance with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, dubbed Obamacare. The company opposes providing some contraceptives to employees through its company health care plan on religious grounds, saying some contraceptive products, like the morning after pill, equate to abortion.
After failing to receive temporary relief from the fines from the Supreme Court, Hobby Lobby announced late Thursday through its attorneys that it "will continue to provide health insurance to all qualified employees. To remain true to their faith, it is not their intention, as a company, to pay for abortion-inducing drugs."
In the face of that opposition, the Department of Health and Human Services tweaked its original rule in February to require health insurers, not employers, to cover the cost of contraception coverage, reasoning that would prevent religious groups from having to finance such coverage. Critics have argued that exemption for nonprofits is far too narrow and a host of nonprofit religious groups have sued the administration over the regulations.
The Internal Revenue Service regulations now say that a group health care plan that "fails to comply" with the Affordable Care Act is subject to an "excise tax" of "$100 per day per individual for each day the plan does not comply with the requirement." A federal judge ruled on Monday that the state of Oklahoma has the right to cut taxpayer funding to the Planned Parenthood abortion business. The abortion giant sued the state of Oklahoma after state officials yanked taxpayer funds it received through a taxpayer-funded program that provides food for low income women and children.

This year marked the 20th anniversary of the Los Angeles riots, sparked by the acquittal of four Los Angeles Police Department officers accused of beating the now-deceased Rodney King. During the five days, mobs around Los Angeles looted stores, burnt 3,767 buildings, caused more than $1 billion in property damage, and led to the deaths of more than 50 people and left another 4,000 injured. A story that has been forgotten since then is that of the brave storeowners in Koreatown who fended off mobs with handguns, rifles and assault weapons.

On the second day of the riots, the police had abandoned much of Koreatown. Jay Rhee, a storeowner in the area, stated to The Los Angeles Times, “we have lost faith in the police.”

With the cops nowhere to be found, hundreds of people marauded through the streets towards Koreatown. The neighborhood suffered 45 percent of all the property damage and five fatalities of storeowners during the riots. Having had enough of waiting for police, Korean storeowners assembled into militias to protect themselves, their families, and businesses.

Twenty-seven-year-old former Marine Jon Hammar of Palmetto Bay will be released Friday from a Mexican prison, according to U.S. Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.

Hammar was arrested over the summer in Mexico because he carried an antique shotgun over the border. He and his family and said it was an honest mistake.
“No American should be in a Mexican jail for five months without being able to have his case in front of a judge,” said Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL). Nelson made a direct appeal to the Mexican ambassador to the U.S. “We’re grateful; this is a good Christmas present.”

Outraged families are demanding an apology from a local school in Idaho after a 36 year-old man entered a classroom and assaulted fifth grade pupils, putting one in a choke-hold.
Grandmother Jerry Peery says she only found out about the incident at Highland School in the rural town of Craigmont, when her grandson returned home from school on Monday.
Ms Peery is just one of the many family members who called the police regarding the incident, and now demanding an explanation and apology for delayed action over the assaults.
'The police were called only after the kids came home and started telling us parents what went wrong,' Ms Perry said. 'I would at least like an apology.'

Any hope that Jon Hammar, the Marine imprisoned in Mexico on a disputed gun charge, might be freed in time for Christmas has apparently been dashed by a terse letter a top Mexican diplomat sent to Hammar’s congresswoman.
The two-page missive from Mexican Ambassador to the United States Arturo Sarukhan to Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), who has been aggressively advocating for Hammar's release, leaves little hope of a diplomatic solution. In it, Sarukhan takes a thinly veiled swipe at the U.S., blaming it for gun proliferation south of the border.

"As you know well, Mexico has had very stringent gun-control laws in place for many years, and have reinforced their application as a result of the flow of weapons illicitly purchased in the U.S. and then trafficked into Mexico and into the hands of transnational criminal organizations," Sarukhan wrote.

Even more damning, in its absence, was the [Benghazi] report’s failure to step back and question whether the Obama administration, at its highest levels (starting with the president), created the conditions for Benghazi by overstating the decimation of al-Qaida and playing down the significance of the extremist elements, possibly al-Qaida-linked, that have reemerged in the aftermath of the Arab Spring in Libya and elsewhere. Unless this reckoning is made, it is easy to imagine a similar disaster happening in post-Assad Syria, or elsewhere in the region. The chairman and the vice chairman of the State Department Accountability Review Board (ARB) that investigated the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya, made dramatically different statements on Wednesday about the duration of those attacks that resulted in the deaths of four Americans.
