There are tens of thousands of American citizens vectoring in on the Capitol for a rally Saturday, followed by visits to the Congress cretins' lairs where presumably no too few Representatives and Senators will be cowering in their inner offices, or perhaps the gym shower?

Citizens are asking some very pointed questions. The country is aroused as never before, as the leftist Congress lock steps its way to a precipice from which it cannot return at the behest of their Marxist ideologue.

President Obama, fresh from having his clock cleaned by Fox News’ Bret Baier, went straight to George Mason University where he continued his rant against the insurance companies in front of another picked audience.

Meanwhile on the hill, the atmosphere is reaching fever pitch with claims and counter claims flying through the statist press.

House Republican Leader John Boehner mailed a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, requesting that ‘every member stand in front of the American people and explain their vote in a roll call vote per House of Representatives rule XX, clause 2 and 3.'

Putting the lie to Obama stating that the stimulus and jobs bills will enable corporations to re-hire laid off employees, Caterpillar Corporation announced more layoffs and laid off 22,000 people last month. Caterpillar CEO Jim Owens said there will be more layoffs before there would be any hiring. Owens said the pending health care legislation would increase his health care costs by over 100 million dollars the first year alone. read more »

Justice: Acorn on brink of bankruptcy

The community organizing group Acorn, battered politically from the right and suffering from mismanagement along with a severe loss of government and other funds, is on the verge of filing for bankruptcy, officials of the group said Friday.

Acorn is holding a teleconference this weekend to discuss plans for a bankruptcy filing, two officials of the group said. They asked not to be identified because they were not authorized to speak to the news media.

Over the last six months, at least 15 of the group’s 30 state chapters have disbanded and have no plans of re-forming, Acorn officials said. The California and New York chapters, two of the largest, have severed their ties to the national group and have independently reconstituted themselves with new names. Several other state groups are also re-forming outside the Acorn umbrella, and will not be affected if the national organization files for bankruptcy.

This week, the Maryland chapter announced that it would not reopen its offices, which were shuttered in September in the wake of a widely publicized series of video recordings made by two conservative activists, posing as a prostitute and a pimp, who secretly filmed Acorn workers providing them tax advice. In the videos, Acorn workers told one of the activists, James E. O’Keefe III, how to hide prostitution activities from the authorities and avoid taxes, raising no objections to his proposed criminal activities. read more »

The Obama Apology Tour Continues: No U.S. Flag in Haiti

France’s tricolor, Britain’s Union Jack and even Croatia’s coat of arms have been lifted above those nation’s installations in Haiti. But in the United States camp, “whose contributions dwarf the rest of the world’s,” no flag is allowed to fly. Why? The Obama administration has forbidden it. USA Today reports:

The lack of the Stars and Stripes does not sit well with some veterans and servicemembers who say the U.S. government should be proud to fly the flag in Haiti, given the amount of money and manpower the U.S. is donating to help the country recover from the Jan. 12 quake.

The Obama administration says flying the flag could give Haiti the wrong idea.

“We are not here as an occupation force, but as an international partner committed to supporting the government of Haiti on the road to recovery,” the U.S. government’s Haiti Joint Information Center said in response to a query about the flag.

It used to be that Americans serving abroad were proud to serve oversees under our nation’s flag. Not the Obama administration.

Believe it or not, Pelosi and other House Democrats are trying to rig a vote under a special “rule” that will incorporate the changes they want the Senate to make to the Senate bill – and then allow the full House to simply vote for the “rule” without actually voting on the Senate bill itself.

They say they will simply “deem” that it has been passed.

They want to hide what they’re actually voting for and let wavering Democrats be able to claim they didn’t actually vote for the bill when they run for re-election this fall. read more »

Gitmo Detainees Allowed Laptops While in Custody

The computers, without Internet access, were provided to Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Shaikh Mohammed and four other suspected 9/11 conspirators at the prison at the U.S. naval base in Cuba, the Washington Times reported.

The Pentagon allowed five captured Al Qaeda members currently held at the Guantanamo Bay prison to use laptop computers in detention, raising concerns among security officials that the terrorism suspects could pass sensitive data to terrorists in the future, according to U.S. officials.

It’s a new chapter in the daily soap opera that has become Obama’s headlong rush to entrap seventeen percent of the national economy. It’s right out of Marx. Nothing is what it seems and nothing the Democrat Congress says will hold up to scrutiny. They lie with numbers faster than they lie about facts, if that’s possible.

Obama’s Fox News interview with Bret Baier was an exercise in slip-slide away… with Obama doing the slip-sliding and Baier trying to nail him down to a real answer… about anything. But, true to form, the prevaricator-in-chief spouted frayed talking points while totally ignoring substantive answers to anything Baier asked. The result was an Obama constantly on the defensive and showing flashes of anger and frustration, while Baier remained remarkably cool throughout.

The lame stream media predictably castigated Bret Baier and Fox News for ‘being cruel and disrespectful’ to the President while overlooking the obvious. That this is the first time any news outlet or reporter has attempted to do anything but grovel before Obama’s magnificence. If even one of these so-called news outlets had done their job to start with, we would have known a lot more about the real Obama. They sold out whatever claim they had to journalistic integrity long ago. The very fact that Obama was willing to go on Fox News, a venue he admittedly detests, is a measure of his desperation. read more »

WOW - new poll shows Boxer in deep doo doo in CA Senate race

A day after Sen. Barbara Boxer's (D-CA) camp announced that Pres. Obama would be traveling to Los Angeles for a joint fundraiser next month, a new Field Poll shows Boxer locked in tight races with each of the GOPers vying to challenge her in Nov.

Ex-Rep. Tom Campbell (R) leads the GOP field, posting a 6-point advantage over ex-Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina (R). But Campbell, Fiorina and Assemb. Chuck DeVore (R) each run virtually even with Boxer in general-election matchups.

The Field Poll surveyed 748 likely voters from Mar. 9-15, with a margin of error of +/- 3.6%. There was an oversample of 353 likely GOP primary voters, with a margin of error of +/- 5.2%.

Landmark Legal Foundation readies constitutional suit if Obamacare passes with Slaughter Solution

Landmark Legal Foundation president and Talk Radio powerhouse Mark Levin promised today that his foundation will file suit in federal court challenging the constitutionality of Obamacare if it is approved in the House using the Slaughter Solution.

“Landmark has already prepared a lawsuit that will be filed in federal court the moment the House acts. Such a brazen violation of the core functions of Congress simply cannot be ignored. Article I, Section 7 of the Constitution is clear respecting the manner in which a bill becomes law. Members are required to vote on this bill, not claim they did when they didn’t. The Speaker of the House and her lieutenants are temporary custodians of congressional authority. They are not empowered to do permanent violence to our Constitution," Levin said.

Poll Reveals 46% of Doctors Would Quit if Pro-Abortion Health Care Bill Passed

A new poll that should cause significant concerns for backers of the pro-abortion Senate health care bill finds nearly half the nation's physicians would consider quitting if the bill becomes law. The survey, appearing in the New England Journal of Medicine, indicates 46 percent of doctors would consider leaving their practice.

The poll finds 46.3% of primary care physicians (family medicine and internal medicine) feel that the passing of a public option will either force them out of medicine or make them want to leave medicine.

Doctors also seem to understand the impact that will have as 72% of physicians feel that a public option would have a negative impact on physician supply, with 45% feeling it will “decline or worsen dramatically” and 27% predicting it will “decline or worsen somewhat.

The medical journal issued an editorial saying it didn't think that many doctors would quit but did worry about the adverse impact.

“While a sudden loss of half of the nations physicians seems unlikely, a very dramatic decrease in the physician workforce could become a reality as an unexpected side effect of health reform," it said. read more »

There’s no CBO count as promised on Wednesday, but the word is that they are desperately trying to get the monster genie stuffed back into a three sizes too small lamp. No matter what the Congressional Budget Office does, it can’t make this trillion dollar boondoggle revenue neutral.

Dennis Kucinich (D) Ohio was a really cheap vote and he sold his for the price of a plane ride. His speech reminded me of Britain’s WW-2 Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, when he returned from Berlin waving a piece of paper with Hitler’s signature on it, raving that he had obtained ‘peace in our time’ while Hitler’s war machine was even then poised on the borders of Poland. Dennis Kucinich is a sellout to his country and to his stated principles… difficult though they may be to find.

An ACORN by any other name would smell as rotten...

Affiliates of the once mighty liberal activist group ACORN are remaking themselves in a desperate bid to ditch the tarnished name of their parent organization and restore federal grants and other revenue streams that ran dry in the wake of a video scandal.

The letters A, C, O, R and N are coming off office doors from New York to California. Business cards are being reprinted. New signs with new names are popping up in front of offices.

The breakaways are trying to shed the scandal that emerged six months ago when videos showed some ACORN workers giving tax tips to conservative activists posing as a pimp and prostitute. But while their names are different, most groups have kept the same offices and staff.

That, critics say, means the groups really haven't started anew and severed all ties to ACORN, which faced accusations of mismanagement and rampant voter registration fraud well before the video brouhaha sent even longtime Democratic backers scattering.

Even the national office of ACORN, or the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, doesn't blame affiliates for bolting from under its umbrella — conceding its entire 40-state network has been devastated by what backers characterize as right-wing attacks.

"It is true that these range of attacks do damage to your brand and your good name," said Kevin Whelan, ACORN's communication's director. "The other reality is that we are starting to win some vindication on the facts. But vindication doesn't necessarily pay the rent." read more »

AP Fact Check: insurance premiums would RISE under ObamaCare

One expects to get news about what big government programs like ObamaCare would do from, say, the Heritage Foundation. But the Associated Press? Yes, the AP, that othewise reliable bastion of cover for liberals and/or Democrats alike.

But here we are, with the AP putting out a report on their own study today which verfies what conservatives have said: that American health insurance premiums will go UP as a result of Obamacare.

Heck, even Democrat Senator Dick Durbin admitted as much last week, (see video below)...

But now we have even more "bi-partisan" verification, via the AP:

WASHINGTON — Buyers, beware: President Barack Obama says his health care overhaul will lower premiums by double digits, but check the fine print.
Premiums are likely to keep going up even if the health care bill passes, experts say. If cost controls work as advertised, annual increases would level off with time. But don't look for a rollback. Instead, the main reason premiums would be more affordable is that new government tax credits would help cover the cost for millions of people. ...
"There's no question premiums are still going to keep going up," said Larry Levitt of the Kaiser Family Foundation, a research clearinghouse on the health care system. "There are pieces of reform that will hopefully keep them from going up as fast. But it would be miraculous if premiums actually went down relative to where they are today." read more »

Health care foes 11 votes shy of defeating bill

Five more House Democrats said Tuesday that they will vote against Senate health care legislation, which puts opponents of reform just 11 votes shy of the 216 needed to prevent President Obama from scoring a major victory on his top domestic priority.

An ongoing CNN analysis shows that opposition in the House to the Senate health care plan has reached 205 members.

A total of 27 House Democrats, including nine who supported the House plan in November, have indicated that they would join a unified Republican caucus in opposing the Senate plan, which passed in that chamber December 24 with the minimum required 60 votes.

Nonetheless, House Democratic Caucus Chairman John Larson of Connecticut said Monday after a meeting with rank-and-file Democrats that "the votes are there" to pass the health care bill.

Among at least 27 Democrats who will vote against the bill is Rep. Mike McIntyre of North Carolina, who confirmed his opposition Monday.

"Health care reform is needed, but the bill before us is too expensive, does not adequately address rising medical costs and skyrocketing insurance premiums, and tries to do too much too soon," McIntyre said in a written statement. "We simply cannot afford to create a new federal bureaucracy that costs nearly $1 trillion when our national debt is $12 trillion and there is no plan in place to address it. I will not vote for it."

Proponents of the health care plan need 216 votes to pass the Senate measure. No Republicans have indicated that they will vote for the bill, which means Democratic leaders must rely solely on votes from their own members. Democrats hold 253 House seats. ... read more »
