Obama Enjoined: Gulf Drilling Moratorium Struck Down // UPDATE: Just Ignore It

Shock and awe to The One today. The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana granted a preliminary injunction enjoining the Obama Administration, Ken Salazar and his Interior Department from enforcing the May 28, 2010 moratorium on oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico.

Pretty awesome stuff. Read the 22-page opinion of U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman and see for yourself.

By the way, Judge Feldman was a Ronald Reagan appointee, and 12 of the current 16 members of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals - to which the Obama Administration has said it will appeal Judge Feldman's ruling, are appointees of either President Reagan (four), the first President Bush (two), or by "W" (six). At least the Circuit's decision won't be a slam dunk political slant in favor of the Administration. No, it will be tough going in the Court of Appeals, and certainly in the Supreme Court for Obama's lawyers.

At least this little bit of Obamamania is toast.

UPDATE: The Obama Administration has apparently decided to just pretend that the Court hasn't given a clear ruling in issuing its temporary injunction. Salazar will simply issue a new order banning drilling in the Gulf, since the last one bit the dust.

Obama DOL Fighting for the RIghts of Illegals

Another example of the topsy-turvey world of right and wrong that the Obama Administration hath wrought. In this case, the Obama Labor Department has decided that it will be the champion of "fair wages" . . . for illegal aliens. That is: Persons in this country illegally, who are working here illegally, who have been employed illegally by employers who, too, are breaking the law.

But let's just make sure that they are paid "fair" wages. After all, why should there be any incentive for anyone to follow the law. And why should there exist any dis-incentive to work here illegally.

Labor Secretary Hilda Solis explains this particular aspect of the President's Fantasy Island that he likes to call the U.S. of A.:

Shakedown at the Border

Whatever little bit of veneer President Obama's good faith or honest intentions ever had simply peels away bit by bit, day by day, layer by layer. As with U.S. border security, and his meaningless promises to make it the first priority in any immigration reform. Pfffft! Forget about it.

Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ), revealed how President Obama, employed his usual, and not-too-subtle, Chicago-brand politics, shed another layer of that little remaining veneer, and put to him an offer which Kyl could refuse: Give me what I want on immigration, or I'll never secure the border.

According to Kyl:

"The problem is, he said, if we secure the border, then you all won't have any reason to support comprehensive immigration reform," Kyl said, as the crowd in the room gasped loudly. "In other words, they're holding it hostage."
The White House denied the claim on Monday. Spokesman Bill Burton and Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer both said Kyl "knows" Obama did not make that comment to him in their meeting.
"The president didn't say that and Senator Kyl knows it," Pfeiffer said in a written statement. "There are more resources dedicated toward border security today than ever before, but, as the president has made clear, truly securing the border will require a comprehensive solution to our broken immigration system."

Kyl spokesman Ryan Patmintra said, "There were two people in that meeting, and Dan Pfieffer was not one of them." He said Pfeiffer's call for comprehensive immigration legislation "only confirms" Kyl's story. While Obama has pledged to send an influx of National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border, Kyl said in the clip that the president made clear to him that border security is just a political tool in the broader goal of passing an immigration package through Congress.

We're all just as sung as a bug in a rug behind our southern border . . . with Obama's boot on the throat of every American citizen who believes that we should do something more about border security than nothing.

Even AP Sees the Foolishness of the Spill Panel

When the Associated-with-terrorists Press manages to pick out the salient deficiencies in Obama's BP oil spill panel - little things like, no relevant experience, and a thorough predisposition to condemn not only BP, the oil industry, the use of oil, and those who use it (yep, us!) - surely someone out there in the lamestream media will call the administration on it. Don't you think?

Here's some of their take on it:

The panel appointed by President Barack Obama to investigate the Gulf of Mexico oil spill is short on technical expertise but long on talking publicly about "America's addiction to oil." One member has blogged about it regularly.
Only one of the seven commissioners, the dean of Harvard's engineering and applied sciences school, has a prominent engineering background — but it's in optics and physics. Another is an environmental scientist with expertise in coastal areas and the after-effects of oil spills. Both are praised by other scientists.
The five other commissioners are experts in policy and management.

Environmental activist Frances Beinecke on May 27 blogged: "We can blame BP for the disaster and we should. We can blame lack of adequate government oversight for the disaster and we should. But in the end, we also must place the blame where it originated: America's addiction to oil." And on June 3, May 27, May 22, May 18, May 4, she called for bans on drilling offshore and the Arctic.
"Even as questions persist, there is one thing I know for certain: the Gulf oil spill isn't just an accident. It's the result of a failed energy policy," Beinecke wrote on May 20.
Two other commissioners also have gone public to urge bans on drilling.
Co-chairman Bob Graham, a Democrat who was Florida governor and later a senator, led efforts to prevent drilling off his state's coast. Commissioner Donald Boesch of the University of Maryland wrote in a Washington Post blog that the federal government had planned to allow oil drilling off the Virginia coast and "that probably will and should be delayed."

Why let little things like relevant expertise, fairness, objectivity or common sense get in the way of the proper constitution of this political panel charged with forwarding this Progressive anti-progress agenda.

Conservatism Ascending

We had no doubt about it . . . Did you? The time is ripe for conservatives, real conservatives to be smart, and do what we must to make our case, and take back our country.

And it looks like we are better and better positioned for November with every step we take, and every mis-step the Dems take.

Keep watch here as real, true Americans, who love their country, do everything in their power to take it back from the miscreant-in-chief, and the progressive fools that follow him.
