The Code Monkeys have launched their pick-up-and-play party game, Manic Monkey Mayhem on WiiWare.

Imagine if the script writers of Dodgeball invited Mr Del Monte over for a few Brahma Beers and they stuck the Wii on. The result would be Manic Monkey Mayhem. It’s a vibrant looking, pick-up-and-play, evening of fun with more bananas than the produce section in Morrison’s. (Seriously, where do they get all the bananas from?)

The gameplay is very simple, yet engrossing; knock your opponent off their platform by throwing bananas. Of course you can enjoy Manic Monkey Mayhem in single player mode, but the fun comes alive in the local multiplayer and multiplayer over the Wi-Fi Channel. Manic Monkey Mayhem is also compatible with the Wii Balance Board, which adds another level of fun into dodging the incoming bananas (and a little bit of exercise too).

With a range of game modes to unlock, Manic Monkey Mayhem should definitely be enjoyed as one of the recommended 5-a-day. Become the Greatest Ape in a last monkey standing battle to the death; rack up the most points before the clocks ticks down in Minute Monkey, and enjoy some team-based monkey carnage with the insane Ape Team mode. Be careful not to eat too many bananas late at night – it will cause a rumble in the jungle.

You can read a full review of Manic Monkey Mayhem in the November issue of Thirteen1 – http://www.thirteen1.com/Issues/13131109/mag.php#50

Manic Monkey Mayhem is available to download via the WiiWare store for a very worthwhile 1,000 Wii Points. You can find out more at the official site – http://www.manicmonkeymayhem.com

Manic Monkey Mayhem will also be released on Sony PSP as a PSP Mini, Nintendo DSiWare and iPhone at a later date. So keep your eyes peeled on Thirteen1 for further news.

NEED FOR SPEED SHIFT REVS UP WITH ALL-NEW TEAM RACING MODE AND LEGENDARY CARS

Electronic Arts Inc. announced an all-new Team Racing pack for the critically-acclaimed Need for Speed SHIFT™. The content pack takes online racing to the next level with an action-packed new race mode and five renowned racing cars – all for free (Need for Speed SHIFT and Xbox LIVE® or PlayStation®Network account required). The Team Racing pack is the first downloadable content for Need for Speed SHIFT and will be available worldwide on December 1st on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system. The pack will be released for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system on December 3rd in Europe and on December 10th in North America.

The Team Racing mode brings a fresh new challenge to SHIFT by completely redefining online racing. In this mode, two teams of up to six racers will battle against each other for online supremacy. Individual driving strategy and playing it safe won’t work as team tactics and 200 mph split-second decisions are required to push your team to the podium.

As part of the new content, players will also get access to these legendary racers:
•	1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 427
•	1967 Shelby GT-500
•	1969 Dodge Charger R/T
•	1971 Dodge Challenger R/T
•	1998 Toyota Supra Mark IV

The Team Racing content pack is custom-made for Need for Speed SHIFT, a spectacular racing game originally released in September 2009. The game introduces a brutal first-person crash dynamic and a signature cockpit view that delivers a true driver’s experience. The game further personalizes the experience through the all-new driver profile — a unique persona based on the driving skill and style of each player. With a perfect ‘10’ score from GameSpy.com and G4TV.com, and 90+ scores from IGN.com, Official Xbox Magazine, PlayStation: The Official Magazine, Team Xbox.com, Game Daily.com, Gametrailers.com and more, Need for Speed SHIFT is the highest rated Need for Speed game in years.

Need for Speed SHIFT is now available on the PlayStation3, Xbox 360, PC, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, mobile and coming soon on the iPhone™. More information can be found at www.needforspeed.com.

adhocParty for PSP System Service Brings Online Gaming to Portable Capcom Titles

Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, is pleased to announce that Monster Hunter Freedom Unite™ for the PSP® (PlayStation® Portable) system will be one of the first titles playable online using the new “adhocParty for the PSP system” service that launched today. Future updates to adhocParty for the PSP system will bring more Capcom multiplayer PSP titles into the online realm.

adhocParty for the PSP system is a service which enables PSP owners to play online multiplayer games featuring Adhoc mode over the internet through the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. PSP titles with Adhoc mode traditionally require users to play within close proximity to each other over Wi-Fi, but with adhocParty for the PSP, PSP owners can play anyone in the world through the PlayStation®Network.

Monster Hunters who own a PSP system and PlayStation 3 system will be able to connect the two using adhocParty for the PSP system. Utilizing the PlayStation 3 system’s wireless networking and online connection, adhocParty for the PSP system creates a social network gateway that will allow Monster Hunter Freedom Unite players to find each other online and adventure together in groups of four. To enable adhocParty for the PSP system, each user must have both a PSP and PlayStation 3 system. To install, users can easily download adhocParty for the PSP system free of charge from the PlayStation®Store and save the application on to the PlayStation 3 system’s built-in hard drive. adhocParty for the PSP system supports voice chat through the Wireless Headset, offering a complete and immersive gaming experience only available on the PlayStation platform.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite was released in June of this year and is the biggest game of the series so far, with over 500 hours of gameplay and dozens of new monsters, weapons and missions. Throughout the strategic gameplay experience, players are rewarded for their combat maneuvers and tactics, encouraging players to seek out more experienced hunters to team up with in order to benefit from their experience. Additionally, Capcom releases downloadable missions and in-game content for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite on a regular basis for no additional charge.

More than 800 movies available, to rent or to own, at the click of a button

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe further expanded its PlayStation® entertainment experience with the launch of the PlayStation®Network video delivery service for Europe. Now available in France, Germany, Spain and the UK, with other countries to follow in 2010, the service allows film fans to download hundreds of movies, including the latest releases, straight to their PlayStation®3 (PS3™) and PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable).

More than 800 movies are available to rent (from £2.49) or to buy (from £6.99), many in High Definition* (HD) as well as Standard Definition (SD), from major movie studios including 20th Century Fox, The Walt Disney Company 1, Lionsgate, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. (MGM), Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, Starz Media, Universal, and Warner Bros.

Titles available within the launch window include Angels and Demons; Bruno; Disney/Pixar’s Cars; Walt Disney Pictures’ The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe; Crank 2; The Dark Knight; Dead Space: Downfall; Drag Me to Hell; Gran Torino; Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix; National Treasure; Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl; Public Enemies; Star Trek; Terminator Salvation; Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen; Valkyrie; and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Additional content will be added on a weekly basis.

Content from local UK studios, Optimum Releasing, ContentFilm International and E1 Entertainment UK, will be available on the English Video Store, including the movies In the Loop and Knowing.

“The launch of the PlayStation Network video delivery service extends our entertainment offering and provides consumers with another way to access their favourite movies, whether at home or on the go,” said Andrew House, President and CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. “With the choice of content constantly expanding, including full games, bite-size downloadable “minis” games, demos and now movies too, the PlayStation Network is the gateway to a world of entertainment.”

At launch, there will be a special offer for existing PSN members, allowing them to receive a complimentary copy of The Da Vinci Code if they buy Angels and Demons. There will also be a special promotion to encourage new members. Anyone who registers for a PlayStation®Network account using their new PS3s between 19th & 30th November 2009 will receive a voucher to download a complimentary copy of Transformers to own2.

Located on the PlayStation®Store under the “Video Store” section, the PlayStation Network video delivery service provides consumers with an exceptional entertainment experience, adding HD and SD movies for rental or purchase, to the already comprehensive line-up of games, demos, trailers and other content.

The video delivery service will be fully integrated within the PlayStation Network, using the same log-in, wallet system and user-interface. Visitors can search for movies by name, or can browse categories such as “new releases”, “genres” and ”most popular downloads”. PS3’s progressive downloading allows viewers to start watching a film shortly after the download begins. They can also access certain games or other content on their PS3 while the download is taking place.

Consumers who choose to rent have up to 14 days to watch their movie, and, once playback is started, they have 48 hours to watch the content. Purchased movies are stored on the PS3 hard disk drive and can be accessed at home via PS3 or transferred to PSP for content on the go.

The PlayStation Network video delivery service takes prime position in a line-up of PlayStation entertainment features, alongside streaming music video with VidZone®, Catch Up TV services and free digital TV viewing with PlayTV™. With games, music, Internet, photos, communications and more, it’s yet another reason to make PS3 and PSP the heart of your entertainment world.
This LittleBigPlanet guide is truly a Super Book, covering just about all there is to know in the LittleBigPlanet world and is the perfect companion to these amazingly fun games. The games and the guide are available now.

LittleBigPlanet, the PlayStation® hit that won various Game of the Year Awards last year and is credited with defining the “creative gaming genre,” continues to grow and evolve, helped by the support of countless fans around the globe. Developed by Media Molecule, the customizable nature of this unique title allows players to alter characters and build entirely new objects and levels; then share and play them online as part of the LittleBigPlanet community. In fact, the sharing nature of the game has become so embraced, it has attracted fans to publish more than one million levels to the PlayStation Network since the award-winning game launched in October 2008. Put another way, one new level has been published roughly every 21 seconds since LittleBigPlanet hit shelves! LittleBigPlanet™PSP is developed by Sony Computer Entertainment’s Cambridge Studio.

Aksys Games announces its first epic SRPG, with Record of Agarest War for the Xbox 360 to coincide with the previously announced PlayStation Network version.

In this game developed by Compiled Heart, RED Entertainment, and Idea Factory, SRPG fanatics will finally be able to play a game worthy of the genre. Sporting over one hundred hours of gameplay, Record of Agarest War invites players into a gorgeous, expansive world of hope and despair. Players will wage war against the evil forces of darkness, take a bride—actually, several brides— and extend their lineage across five generations!

“In truth, we had Record of Agarest War ready to go up on the PlayStation Network months ago,” [Ed.’s note: That’s a lie.] says Ben Bateman, Editor, Aksys Games, “But when a haggard man emerged from a ball of crackling energy that materialized outside our office with dire warnings from a dark future, we decided to reconsider. As it turns out, a PlayStation Network-exclusive release of Agarest was—or rather, would have been—the catalyst for World War III. The gaming community was torn apart—literally—by this apparent favoritism, and from that schism poured the infinite minions of Satan himself, the Lord of Lies. The man told us, his eyes blank with the 1000-yard stare, of the horrors of this future war. He had been sent back in time, the last hope of a desperate human resistance, to prevent what the people of this desolate future Earth called, simply, ‘The Breaking.’ As the last spark of life passed from his body, broken and battered by his journey through the time vortex, we swore to honor his final wish.”

“This is why Record of Agarest War has been delayed,” Ben continues, his eyes wet with tears, “So that we may release it on both consoles, and in doing so, save the world.”

Record of Agarest War Prologue
War darkened the skies of Agarest. Not a simple war between mortals, easily ended by divine intervention, but a war that split the gods themselves. Armies such as the world had never seen before, and would never see again, clashed in the skies of Agarest, across its surface, and even in the caverns that wound their way through its interior.

As is the way in war, many died on both sides, gods and mortals alike, and the war left Agarest broken, blackened, and dead. The gods wept for their paradise, and in a final act of creation, sacrificed themselves to bring life back to its charred and twisted surface.

Although the gods are long dead, the withering darkness that began and fueled their war is not. Imprisoned for millennia, its bonds have begun to weaken, and as they do, a shadow once again spreads across the surface of the world.

Born into this world perched unknowingly on the brink of the apocalypse, a young man by the name of Leonhardt and his descendants are the last, best hope for Agarest. Their journey will span generations and continents as they strive to once again bring peace to their beleaguered world, even as the cost of their own souls.

Record of Agarest War Key Features:

Soul Breeding!

Tired of just living through one lifetime in typical RPG titles? Then witness the Soul Breed system! Choose a bride at the end of your adventure and give birth to the hero of the next generation!

Collaborative Attacks!

Position your forces on the battlefield and wait for the right moment to string together massive combo attacks using multiple party members—both in melee and at range!

Affection Rating

Curious how one of Agarest’s lovely ladies feels about you? Look no further than the Affection Gauge, which gives you a quick and easy visual representation of her opinions! Is she smiling? You must be doing something right! Frowning? Uh oh… If only real relationships were this easy!

Newly Engorged with Content!

Enjoy an enhanced version of the game based on the Japanese release of Record of Agarest War: Reappearance! Hot pix included!

Exclusive Trophy and Achievement Support!

The North American version of Record of Agarest War is the only version in the universe, and all the other places too, to have trophies and achievements! [Ed.’s note: I think you’ll find that the universe pretty much covers everything.] [PR’s response: Shut up, woman, get on my horse!]

Record of Agarest War has not yet been rated by the ESRB. More information about Aksys Games and Record of Agarest War can be found at www.aksysgames.com.
