Sunstein also recommended the government send agents to infiltrate "extremists who supply conspiracy theories" to disrupt the efforts of the "extremists" to propagate their theories.

In a 2008 Harvard law paper, "Conspiracy Theories," Sunstein and co-author Adrian Vermeule, a Harvard law professor, ask, "What can government do about conspiracy theories?"

"We can readily imagine a series of possible responses. (1) Government might ban conspiracy theorizing. (2) Government might impose some kind of tax, financial or otherwise, on those who disseminate such theories."

TrimTabs CEO stirs up conspiracy theory debates on Wall Street

Wall Street still pondering conspiracy theory set off by respected investment researcher Charles Biderman:

So when did Biderman (founder, CEO of TrimTabs Investment Research, a well-known publisher of investment research and newsletters) start seeing hidden government moves lurking in the market? He says it stemmed from seeking the answer to a mystery. Biderman points out that the cumulative capitalization of the U.S. stock market now stands at roughly $16 trillion, up $6.5 trillion from its low on March 9, 2009. Historically, it’s taken roughly $10 of new money invested in the market to boost market capitalization values by $100, Biderman says -- so to achieve a $6 trillion-plus-boom the market should have needed $600 billion in new money.

Here’s how the plan, as Biderman sees it, could have worked. Over a period of roughly nine months, the Federal Reserve or the Treasury could have made steady acquisitions in the stock-futures market, to the tune of $60 billion to $70 billion a month. That added buying power could have halted a selloff and “encouraged huge amounts of sideline cash to flow into equities,” he wrote to his clients.

A controversial 9/11 conspiracy theory documentary film is to be screened at 1 p.m. Saturday. Jan. 9th at the Five Corners branch of the Jersey City Public Library. the Jersey City Peace Movement is sponsoring the screening.

The film focuses on the way the towers and nearby 7 World Trade Center collapsed; the film questions whether the impact of the planes and the subsequent fires could have been sufficient triggers for the way the buildings fell.
