It can be quite intimidating inviting a contractor into your home for a quote when you don’t even know what to expect. If you are considering upgrading your kitchen countertops, take the guesswork out before you pick up the phone with Request a Quote from the Artisan Group.

With Request a Quote, you can enter your countertop measurements and choose between the different Artisan Group countertop styles, which include: Artisan Stone Collection granite, marble, Saratoga Soapstone and Heritage Wood to receive an accurate quote. The service will also put you in touch with your nearest Artisan Group fabricator who can provide helpful ideas and suggestions .

Construction Resources is a proud carrier of the Artisan Group line. If you want to get a feel of the countertops and see them in person, the Atlanta Kitchen and Bath showroom in Decatur would be the perfect place to stop by. So whether you choose more traditional granite, opt for Heritage Wood (like Construction Resources installed in Taylor Swift’s home) or another surface, turn to Construction Resources and the Artisan Group for all of your kitchen countertop needs.

Can a remix ever be better than the original? It doesn’t often happen that way in music, but when it comes to carpeting, frieze carpet has definite advantages over its older cousin, shag.

Shag was the rage in the 1960s and 1970s. No modern home was considered complete without it. The plush carpet feels nice on bare feet, but it takes a lot of care. The long strands, which are twisted loosely and spaced less tightly than most carpets, lie in different directions when walked on. For that reason, homes were also incomplete without a “carpet rake.” Many a child had to rake the carpet as a regular chore.

Fast forward a few decades, and meet frieze, most commonly pronounced “free-say.” The informal, laid-back look and the plush, pamper-your-feet feel of this very popular carpet is similar to the short shag from years ago. In fact, it has reached the same “must have” status shag enjoyed back when.

But this remix has those who do chores in the home singing a happier tune. The yarns in a frieze carpet are more twisted than in shag, providing a curly, textured surface that resists foot prints and even vacuum marks. Frieze carpet is often recommended for high traffic areas because of its resilience – no raking required!

Construction Resources, Inc., carries this very up-to-date 70s throwback by manufacturers Mohawk, Shaw and Beaulieu. Samples in various colors are available at the Decatur showroom. For a showroom appointment, call 1-800-765-5129.

If you haven’t thought about bamboo flooring already, you might want to reconsider. In addition to being environmentally friendly, bamboo floors are also stronger and less expensive than hardwood floors made from other sources.

Construction Resources is proud to now offer numerous flooring options including bamboo. Because many different varieties exist, bamboo allows homeowners the ability to tailor the color to match almost any décor in their home. Stop by one of our showrooms to find out for yourself.

Bamboo resists humidity and is a highly adaptable flooring option. While we have seen the benefits of bamboo in furniture and home products, it wasn’t until a few years ago that it was even considered a flooring option. Once it was introduced the public, it took off. The range of styles offered, easy upkeep, quality and cost effectiveness have made it the “go to” choice for homeowners across the United States.

Because bamboo is a rapid growing grass and not wood, it is typically harvested every five to seven years, unlike other woods that are harvested every 15 to 100 years. The harvest time for bamboo makes it more of an environmentally friendly product for flooring. Conservationists have praised this aspect of the material. The leftover leaves and shoots are utilized as a food source for livestock both here in the U.S. and in Asia.

By using bamboo as an alternate source, woods such as oak and pine are being saved, slowing down the clearing of forests across the world. It is becoming more important every year to use renewable resources. By using bamboo flooring, you are helping to preserve the environment.

Well, things just got a lot easier for you! Over the last few years, we have been fortunate enough to have made a name for ourselves as Atlanta’s leading supplier of kitchen and bath products for homeowners, builders and remodelers. Now, we are proud to introduce the Builder Interior Advantage program that we hope will make things easier for our friends in the custom building industry.

The program, introduced under the watchful eye of Angelique Baez, our new director of design, is structured to be a one stop shop for builders and their clients. Instead of running all over Atlanta, builders can now bring their clients to one of Construction Resources three kitchen and bath showrooms (Decatur, Alpharetta or Lake Oconee) to select all of their options. Not sold yet? We also have the team in place to install all of your client’s choices, which in turn cuts your cost by not having to deal with subcontractors.

We also has several sister companies at your disposal including Atlanta Marble Mfg., Atlanta Kitchen, Inc., Atlanta Glass & Mirror, Inc. and Atlanta Garage Doors & Fireplaces, LLC. By offering a diverse selection, we allow our customers to simplify their ordering, scheduling and vendor process by dealing with just one salesperson and company rather than multiple salespersons and companies. Find out more by visiting Construction Resources.

A luxurious choice for countertops, the variety of colors and finishes of wood is limitless. Wood countertops provide a beautifully finished kitchen both complementing and completing the overall look and texture of the room. Your new wood countertops will complement your wood cabinets whether stained or painted. The high-end luxury look of wood is typically very reasonably priced and although it is more than laminate countertops, wood is typically not as expensive as granite.

Looking for a sustainable countertop? Reclaimed wood is a great choice. It complies with LEED standards and is the most eco-friendly of countertops. Wood is one of the more sanitary products for the kitchen, with inherent properties to protect it from bacteria build-up.

Wood countertops do require some maintenance, including regular mineral oil treatments. And because wood oxidizes over time, your wood countertops may change color as they age. Repair of wood countertops is generally easy and when they need updating or refreshing, most only require a bit of sanding with a 220 fine-grit sandpaper and re-oiling.

Advantages of Wood

Natural with many eco-friendly options

Easy to clean

Provides a smooth, even surface

Warm appearance and renewable surface

Sanitary with inherent anti-bacterial properties

Won’t dull knife blades; great for cooking

Provides a convenient, built-in chopping/food prep area

After heavy usage, most knife marks and deeper scratches can be removed by sanding and re-oiling

Works well with undermount sinks

Construction Resources is pleased to offer Heritage Wood countertops. Well, that is certainly not the case today! There are so many choices of surfaces on the market, yet granite remains the top choice for remodeling. Why? Most likely because of its natural beauty and its durability.

Granite was once so pricey that you only found it in the most expensive homes, but now it is the classic staple of most kitchens and bathrooms from swanky highrises to hotels and entry level homes to pricey mansions. Granite simply is the countertop material that defines elegance in a kitchen. It is 100-percent natural and each piece is a unique work of art.

The resilience of granite makes it the perfect choice for kitchens and bathrooms where durability and stain resistance is a priority. No other material lasts longer or looks more elegant.

Here are our top 5 reasons to invest in Granite:

Natural

Long lasting and durable

Heat, scratch and stain resistant

Maintenance free with minimal care (see our article on Granite and Stone Care)

High value to homebuyers (good for resale)

That’s right, Construction Resources! (Photo with blog post represents product only and was not taken at Taylor’s penthouse.)

Recently, we had the opportunity to travel to the Country Music Capital of the World to install Heritage Wood kitchen and pantry countertops for the country pop singer, songwriter and actress. Having been described by the New York Times as “one of pop’s finest songwriters,” it was quite an honor for us to be able to upgrade Swift’s home with classic countertops.

Our Heritage Wood collection offers more than 30 unique colors to choose from including exotic woods such as sapele mahogany and zebrawood end-grain; domestic woods such as American cherry and hard maple and reclaimed woods including antique heart pine and red oak.

A unique aspect of our natural wood is the fact that the color of the surface changes over time. The color change is caused by the wood’s exposure to light and air (oxidation) and varies by species. You can browse the Heritage Wood gallery to discover the perfect wood countertop for you.

Because the actual color of wood may vary, we recommend that you find a fabricator near you to view your selections in person. All of Heritage Wood countertops are backed by the Artisan Group pledge that the quality and craftsmanship will exceed your expectations.
