The next edition of the triennial international construction machinery exhibition is scheduled 9-12 May 2029

Verona, 11 May 2026 – The 32nd SaMoTer – the triennial international construction machinery exhibition – closed on 9 May at Veronafiere, posting attendance by 42,000 professional operators from 78 countries over the four-day event. The result improves on the result in 2023, when 41,000 visitors arrived over five days, from Wednesday to Sunday. This confirms the effectiveness of a more concentrated format tailored to the needs of exhibitors.

The most significant result concerns international attendance up by 38%, in line with Veronafiere’s efforts to strengthen SaMoTer’s positioning in strategic areas for the sector. Exhibition area also increased by 20% for a total of 52,000 square metres across six show halls and three outdoor areas.

The 2026 show attracted 526 exhibitors (124 international from 22 countries). All the major global construction equipment players returned to the Verona Exhibition Centre with an offering embracing the entire range of the supply chain: Earthmoving, hoisting/lifting, demolition, drilling, crushing, road-building machinery, quarry and construction vehicles, concrete, equipment, components, spare parts, logistics, and services.

As regards content, the programme scheduled 56 events, including conferences, workshops, seminars, and meetings that addressed key issues for the development of the sector, such as digitalization, sustainability, safety, European regulations, infrastructure, the market, training, and industrial policies.

Organized in partnership with UNACEA and CECE, SaMoTer confirmed its status as a platform for business and discussion in an industry worth 4 billion euros in Italy in terms of production, generating 3.2 billions in exports and, if allied sectors are taken into consideration, providing 85,000 jobs. Italy is now the third largest European market in this sector in terms of value, after Germany and the United Kingdom.

On the incoming front, Veronafiere worked closely with ITA-Italian Trade Agency to select and host top buyers from 23 countries, with a focus on Central and Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, the CIS region, the Middle East, North Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa. This initiative seeks to support businesses at a time when trade relations and international opportunities are crucial for competitiveness.

“The market response confirms the validity of the approach taken after SaMoTer 2023,” said Federico Bricolo, President of Veronafiere. “This edition is the result of close collaboration with companies, trade associations, institutions, public decision-makers, and industry stakeholders. The technical discussions set in motion at the end of last year helped us build an event more closely aligned with the needs of the supply chain, with a greater international reach, qualified professional audience, and content and formats tailor-made for the priorities of the sector.”

Over the four days, company stands became meeting points for dealers, customers, technicians, and sales networks. Not just exhibition spaces but places for events and sales force training. Professional visitors were the focal point of the event, invited not only to discover product innovations but also for first-hand experience with machinery, technologies, and operating solutions.

The “special shows” at SaMoTer 2026 included the Digital Construction Site, an effective and dynamic demonstration of the evolution of construction sites, with inter-connected systems, automation, remote control, and applied data management for efficiency, safety, and sustainability. A format designed to showcase innovation in live action going beyond the logic of mere static displays.

Another innovation in 2026 was the SaMoTer Academy, developed with Engim Veneto as a way to introduce students and young technicians to the world of construction machinery and meet demand for new skills. The four days of the trade fair saw 200 students attend organized visits to sponsor companies, meetings with businesses, technicians, and industry professionals.

SaMoTer 2026 also saw Veronafiere and Unacea renew their partnership with a view to the next event scheduled 9-12 May 2029. The aim is to continue joint work on the technical programme, international markets, promotion focused on companies and awareness initiatives.

Data and outlook for the sector were presented by CER (Centro Europa Ricerche) on behalf of Unacea during the 32nd edition of SaMoTer, the triennial International Construction Machinery Exhibition, taking place at Veronafiere until Saturday, 9 May. In 2026, the number of machines sold in Italy is expected to reach an estimated 25,500 units.

Verona, 8 May 2026 – It is one of the most dynamic sectors of the Italian economy, characterized by high productivity, a strong export orientation, significant technological intensity, and an increasingly central role in the development of modern infrastructure and construction sites. This is the snapshot of the construction machinery sector emerging from the new study conducted by CER (Centro Europa Ricerche) on behalf of Unacea (the Italian Construction Machinery Association), presented yesterday at Veronafiere during the opening day of the 32nd edition of SaMoTer, the triennial International Construction Machinery Exhibition, running until Saturday, 9 May (www.samoter.it).

The study was presented at the conference titled “Construction machinery and Italian production supply chains: the overall economic dimension” by Stefano Fantacone, Research Director at CER. He emphasized that the sector represents a highly specialized industrial segment, closely linked to the transformation of production processes in construction and to the modernization of the infrastructure system.

In 2025, the Italian construction machinery market reached 26,000 units sold—almost double the 13,500 units recorded in 2017—confirming sustained long-term structural growth. After peaking in 2022 (29,700 units), the sector is now entering a phase of normalization. A slight contraction to 25,500 units (-1.9%) is forecast for 2026, against a macroeconomic backdrop of moderate GDP growth (+0.3%), a slowdown in construction investments (-0.3%), and inflationary pressures linked to energy costs exceeding 20%.

The total production value of the sector is estimated at €4 billion, with 6,000 direct employees rising to 85,000 when the entire supply chain is considered. These figures highlight not only the sector’s economic scale but also its capacity to generate skilled and geographically widespread employment.

Its competitive positioning is further strengthened by a marked international orientation. In 2025, the sector recorded €3.2 billion in exports compared to €2.3 billion in imports, resulting in a positive trade balance of €900 million. Nearly two-thirds of domestic production is destined for foreign markets, confirming the technological strength and global competitiveness of Italian companies.

Within the European context, the research clearly highlights Italy’s strengthened role in the construction machinery market. In 2025, Italy ranked as the third-largest European market by units sold, after Germany and the United Kingdom, overtaking France and securing a European market share of approximately 15%, up significantly from 9.6% in 2019.

This reflects growth dynamics running counter to other major countries. Between 2019 and 2025, the Italian market expanded by +38.8%, compared to an average European contraction of -9.4%, with significant declines in France (-28.3%), Germany (-22.7%), and the UK (-5.8%). Italy is thus the only major European market to have surpassed pre-Covid levels, reinforcing its competitive position and assuming an increasingly central role within the continental sector.

The sector is also distinguished by its strong integration with the construction supply chain, directly supporting worksites, infrastructure, civil engineering projects, and specialized activities. The three connected production branches—civil engineering; demolition and site preparation; and installation of electrical, plumbing and other construction systems—generate a combined production value of €135 billion and employ approximately 694,000 workers.

Between 2019 and 2023 (latest available Istat data), the production value of these three branches increased by 69%, compared to overall Italian production growth of 32%. The fastest-growing activity was demolition and site preparation (+73%), followed by installation activities (+70%). Civil engineering grew by 65%.

Another distinguishing feature of the sector is its high level of technological innovation. More than 35% of companies make medium-to-high investments in research and development, while between 35% and 44% invest in technology and digitalization to support the ongoing mechanization and transformation of worksites. Construction machinery thus acts as an enabling factor for productivity, workplace safety, and reduced project timelines, contributing significantly to the modernization of the entire supply chain.

Several representatives of leading brands exhibiting at SaMoTer 2026 also spoke during the presentation.

Gianluca Calì, Marketing Director of CGT Spa: “The performance of our market is directly proportional to that of the construction sector. The National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) has certainly boosted infrastructure projects and, consequently, the market has shown positive trends recently. However, contingent factors continue to influence customers’ purchasing decisions, as do various incentive schemes. Looking ahead, the sector has significant room for improvement in productivity recovery: all operators must invest so that customers understand that new technology translates into greater efficiency and productivity.”

Luca Evangelista, Sales Director of Volvo CE: “The Italian market is showing positive signs compared to other European markets. The encouraging results we see today are the outcome of work started several years ago. Slight declines should not be interpreted as negative signals or crises but rather as a phase of adjustment linked to broader economic trends. In the earthmoving segment, we are placing many machines on the market, while Germany, France and the UK have seen significant declines. This shows that Italy is delivering strong numbers thanks to groundwork done previously. Incentives have certainly played a role, but machines are purchased only when there are real projects. The PNRR has provided strong momentum, encouraging investments in connectivity, digitalization and sustainability—areas where returns are consistently positive. The real challenge now is maintaining this level”.

Maurizio Tosi, Territory Manager Plants Italy at Ammann Group: “Despite the economic crisis linked to rising fuel prices, energy costs and raw materials, companies still show strong willingness to improve, invest and grow. The Italian market continues to deliver positive results, while Europe is experiencing significant declines. Incentives such as Industry 4.0 and 5.0 measures have been driving forces, but much also depends on companies’ capacity to continue investing. However, regulatory issues—particularly in the road machinery segment—remain problematic. Installing an asphalt plant requires numerous authorizations from different authorities that often fail to coordinate. This creates serious difficulties: approvals may take six months—or more than three years—depending on interpretation. Such uncertainty inevitably discourages investment”.

Filippo Venieri, Sales and Marketing Manager at VF Venieri: “Forecasts for 2026–2027 are difficult to interpret, although I see strong willingness to invest among companies in the sector, which gives hope for the future. One message I would like to convey from SaMoTer is the need to invest in young people to attract top talent and train the operators of tomorrow”.

Marco Ferroni, Business Director at Kobelco Construction Machinery Europe: “Since 2026 did not start particularly well, it may prove challenging for the sector. However, if corrective measures are taken quickly, 2027 could move against the trend seen in other European countries”.

David Bazzi, CEO of Komatsu Italia: “The incentives granted in Italy have certainly provided significant advantages to construction machinery manufacturers. However, in the current context of geopolitical crises, rising component costs and, above all, logistical challenges are creating serious difficulties for the entire sector.”

JCB is stepping up efforts to improve the security and emissions visibility of its Stage V generator range – reinforcing its push for clear, practical identification across the power generation sector.

The move was announced today (23rd April) at the 2026 annual meeting of the Association of Manufacturers and Suppliers of Power Generating Systems (AMPS), the UK’s power generation trade association,

JCB’s move highlights the company’s focus on measures that help protect valuable equipment, support emissions checks and give customers greater confidence in the machines they use.

Generators are frequently moved between sites, hired across fleets and passed through wide supply chains. Clear, trusted identification is increasingly important — not just for managing assets day-to-day, but also for verifying emissions standards and helping police recover stolen equipment.

JCB was the first member of the AMPS to adopt CESAR Emissions Compliance Verification (CESAR ECV) for its RS generator range, following the association’s decision to make the system available to its members. AMPS represents manufacturers, suppliers, distributors and rental specialists across the UK power generation industry.

CESAR ECV works alongside the established CESAR security scheme, owned by the Construction Equipment Association (CEA) and delivered by Datatag. More than 700,000 CESAR systems have now been supplied across construction, agriculture and related sectors.

Tiago Courinha, JCB Global Business Head for Power Generation, said:

“Customers want confidence that their equipment is compliant, secure and easy to identify. By backing clear identification and emissions checks, we’re supporting solutions that work on site and add real value for owners and operators.”

Viki Bell, CEO of the CEA (Construction Equipment Association), owner of the CESAR scheme, said:

“JCB’s continued support for CESAR ECV is important for the wider sector. It shows that security and emissions visibility are being taken seriously at manufacturer level and that there is real value in giving customers practical support from the outset.”

Kevin Howells, Managing Director of Datatag Ltd, delivery partner to the CESAR scheme, said:

“Passing 700,000 systems supplied is an important milestone for CESAR and a clear sign of the confidence the industry continues to place in the scheme. JCB’s support for CESAR ECV in the generator sector helps extend those benefits into another important part of the equipment market.”

SAMOTER 2026 UNDER STARTER’S ORDERS – THE STRENGTH OF THE CONSTRUCTION SECTOR ON SHOW AT VERONAFIERE

526 EXHIBITORS AND TOP BUYERS INVITED FROM 23 COUNTRIES
FOCUS ON THE CONSTRUCTION SITE OF THE FUTURE

The 32nd triennial International Construction Equipment Exhibition was presented in Rome yesterday. All the top names in the sector will attend the trade fair.

CER-Unacea Research: The Italian construction machinery sector is worth 4 billion euros and boast 85,000 employees. Strong international vocation: 70% of production is exported. 26,000 units were sold in Italy in 2025, double the number compared to 2017. Italy is Europe’s third-largest market, having overtaken France and has grown by 38.8% since 2019, going against the 9.4% average decline trend in Europe

Rome, 28 April 2026 – The 32nd edition of SaMoTer. Scheduled 6-9 May 2026, the triennial International Construction Machinery Exhibition is under the spotlights again at the Verona Exhibition Centre with 526 exhibitors (124 international from 22 countries), bringing together the leading brands and their global excellence in construction site mechanization. In all, 6 show halls and 3 outdoor areas will welcome visitors to the exhibition alongside demo areas for dynamic tests for an overall total of 52,000 square metres.

The trade fair, organized by Veronafiere in partnership with Unacea (Italian Construction Machinery Union) and Cece (European Construction Equipment Federation), was presented yesterday morning in Rome, in the Nassirya Hall of Palazzo Madama – the Senate of the Republic of Italy.

The presentation was attended by Adolfo Urso, Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Federico Bricolo, President of Veronafiere, Maurizio Forte, Central Director of ITA-Italian Trade Agency (in video-connection), Luca Nutarelli, Director of Unacea, Stefano Fantacone, Research Director of CER (Centro Ricerche Europeo) and Matteo Pasinato, SaMoTer event manager (their comments are given at the end of this press release). Other attendees also included the undersecretary of MIMIT, Mara Bizzotto, and Senator Matteo Gelmetti. The event was moderated by journalist Giuseppe De Filippi.

SaMoTer is the only exhibition in Italy specifically for the construction equipment supply chain: from earthmoving to hoisting/lifting, demolition and drilling, not to mention crushing and quarry/construction site vehicles, as well as concrete, the road-building sector, without overlooking equipment, engine components, spare parts, logistics, services and ICT solutions. The Italian construction equipment sector plays a strategic role in the national mechanical engineering industry and is a key enabler for the development of infrastructures and the sustainable transition of the construction industry.

SaMoTer confirms its status as a b2b platform of international calibre: this year, more than 60 top international buyers have been invited from 23 countries in Central and Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, the CIS region, Eurasia, the Middle East, North Africa, and sub-Saharan Africa. In addition, there a further 40 operators were selected from target markets thanks to the collaboration with ITA-Italian Trade Agency, not to mention all the other high-profile professionals arriving from abroad.

The construction machinery sector enjoys a vocation for exports and this event is a preferential venue for consolidating business relationships, presenting innovations, and identifying new business opportunities in emerging and established markets through a series of targeted meetings.

Research conducted by CER (Centro Europa Ricerche) on behalf of Unacea (the Italian Construction Equipment Union) was presented today. it indicates turnover in the sector of 4 billion euros and, including allied fields, employs 85,000 people. The sector also enjoys a strong international vocation, with approximately 70% of production sold on international markets (exports were valued at 3.2 billion euros in 2025) and a structurally positive balance of trade.

26,000 construction machinery units were sold in Italy in 2025. The market has doubled in size in just under a decade: 13,500 construction machinery units were sold in 2017. The market peaked in 2022, with 29,700 units sold. We are now seeing a physiological adjustment.

In terms of the number of machines sold, the Italian construction equipment market was the third largest in Europe in 2025, behind Germany and the United Kingdom but having overtaken France. In the period 2019-2025, the Italian market moved against the European trend and posted an overall expansion of 38.8%. In the same period, the European average posted a 9.4% downturn. France, Germany and the United Kingdom saw setbacks of 28.3%, 22.7% and 5.8%. Italy is now the only major European market to surpass its pre-Covid dimensions. In the wake of these results, Italy today covers an approximately 15%. share of the European market. Its share in 2019 was 9.6%.

Construction machinery has helped activate a significant portion of the non-residential building sector, generating a total value of production of €135 billion, an increase of 69% in the four-year period 2019-23 (the latest year for which ISTAT data is available).

The share of Italian construction industry companies with medium-high investments in research and development now exceeds 35%, compared to an average value for the entire economy of 11.1%. This distinctive propensity for innovation is confirmed by the share of companies investing in technology and digitalization, ranging between 35% and 44% (less than 20% for the economy as a whole).

It is precisely for this reason that the main topic at SaMoTer is technological innovation applied to construction sites, with a focus on Industry 4.0, automation, artificial intelligence, connectivity, data management, machine sustainability, reduced emissions, and new infrastructure solutions, as well as safety, training, and rental, thereby helping to promote the most current trends in the sector. This context in turn welcomes SaMoTer Lab, the dynamic and high-visibility high-tech exhibition area designed to offer visitors an effective and full immersion experience of the most advanced solutions in the sector. This proposal is flanked at SaMoTer by the second edition of the “Digital Construction Site” – a demonstration initiative created in collaboration with “Quelli del Movimento Terra” to provide an experiential space for live presentations of how digital technologies are changing construction site processes, while also improving efficiency, safety, sustainability, and productivity.
Innovations in 2026 include the debut of the SaMoTer Academy, the strategic project developed with Engim Veneto in response to one of the sector’s most pressing challenges: the shortage of qualified operators.

This project is intended to become a permanent training ecosystem active year-round capable of integrating cultural and technical-professional training. The 32nd SaMoTer is also eagerly awaited given its impressive calendar of conferences and workshops: Collaboration with institutions, trade associations, companies, research centres, and specialized publishers means there are 56 events where operators will find previews and indications of international scope. Conferences in the SaMoTer Arena especially include “Construction machinery and production chains” (6 May, 4:15 pm) and “Hydrogeological risk in Italy: economic impacts and necessary protection investments” (7 May, 2:45 pm), organised by SaMoTer in collaboration with CER-Centro Europa Ricerche.

COMMENTS

Adolfo Urso, Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy: “The construction machinery sector is one of the most significant showcases of Italy’s capital machinery industry, Made in Italy quality and such a strategic sphere as automation, a driving force underlying the production system and exports. SaMoTer this year is also being held at a particularly significant time for the sector. In just a few weeks’ time, the new Transition Plan 5.0 will come into force, with €10 billion through to September 2028, in support of the dual challenge of technological innovation and the green transition. Unlike the previous edition, it will also include investments relating to products in this sector, which have so far been excluded given the rigidity of European restrictions.”

Federico Bricolo, President of Veronafiere: “SaMoTer 2026 comes forward yet again as a system platform for networking, products, innovation, skills and international relationships accompanying the construction supply chain towards increasingly modern and competitive production models, “The Show also has strategic value as a venue for institutional discussion between companies, trade associations, and policy-makers over key issues for the sector, such as regulations, sustainability, and digitalization. This year, we are also focusing on preventing hydro-geological risks, an area where construction machinery is a vital tool in terms of responding to a key challenge for Italy.”

Maurizio Forte, Central Director of ITA-Italian Trade Agency: “Attendance by qualified international visitors, especially buyers, is a strategic aspect for the success of events such as SaMoTer. ITA’s promotional investment regarding incoming visitors was confirmed and further strengthened this year, with a specific focus on selecting international delegations from a number of priority markets for the Italian construction sector, such as: Albania, Brazil, Estonia, India, Mauritania, Morocco and Poland. The work is coordinated through our international network, itself a fundamental asset for the Country-System: a structured and synergistic approach that aims to create effective business opportunities for Italian companies by promoting qualified meetings and strengthening the international dimension of SaMoTer 2026.

Matteo Pasinato, SaMoTer event manager: “The 32nd SaMoTer will provide a striking account of how construction sites are evolving and becoming increasingly connected, automated, and sustainable. Verona is ready to welcome technologies that are already reshaping construction processes, from Industry 4.0 to artificial intelligence, advanced data management, and machine digitization. The goal is to offer companies and operators a clear vision of tomorrow’s construction sites, where innovation, efficiency, and safety are vital elements of daily work.”

Luca Nutarelli, Director of Unacea: “The first quarter this year compared to the same period in 2025 saw a 1% downturn in the construction equipment market, although this figure disguises a significant drop in the first two months of 2026. Furthermore, in many instances rather than actual sales, machinery is returned to rental fleets, which helped contain losses before the elimination of the made in Europe clause from 5.0 incentives. Following the activation of the platform to access this measure, which we hope will arrive as soon as possible, we now expect a resumption of satisfactory physiological market levels as seen in recent years.”

Stefano Fantacone, Research Director as CER: “With a 38.8% increase compared to pre-Covid levels and a European market share up from 9% to 15%, the construction equipment sector has emerged as one of the most dynamic sectors in the Italian economy in recent years. With a total turnover of €6 billion, a balance of trade in the black by €900 million, and employment standing at 85,000 people, including allied fields, this sector is in the initial stage of a broader supply chain that – including civil engineering, construction sites, and plant engineering – generates total production worth €135 billion, employing nearly 695,000 people. Today, the sector pays very closer attention to key issues such as innovation and energy transition, with investments in research and development, sustainability, and digitalization far above average for the Italian economy in general. Consolidating the sector’s production and sales levels could help support the Italian economy during a particularly complex international period that requires support from all components of domestic demand.”

The Triennial Construction Machinery Exhibition in Verona offers hands-on and learning experience covering the most innovative technologies for increasingly connected, automated, and safe construction sites of the future.

Verona, 27 April 2026 – The second edition of the “Digital Construction Site” will be held during SaMoTer 2026. The Triennial International Construction and Earthmoving Machinery Exhibition, scheduled in Verona 6-9 May 2026 welcomes back the initiative focusing on technological innovation and the digital transformation of the construction sector in Outdoor Area F, spanning over 5,000 square metres. Following a successful first edition, the trade fair (organized by Veronafiere in partnership with Unacea and Cece) once again hosts an experiential and demonstration venue specifically for live demos of how digital technologies are transforming construction site processes to improve task management, optimize work times, and ensure the highest site safety standards. Intelligent sensors, advanced control systems, and digital solutions enable all operating stages to be monitored with greater precision, thereby reducing errors, wasted resources, and risks for operators.

The Digital Construction Site project implemented in collaboration with “Quelli del Movimento Terra” as part of SaMoTer’s evolution towards a trade fair increasingly focused on content and transfer of technology, thereby confirming its role as a key international stage for the construction sector, through a format that brings together exhibitions, dynamic demonstrations, training and networking. The companies investing in the value of this idea which have so far decided to attend this year in the high-tech area include: CASE, CGT Caterpillar, Develon, Leica Geosystems, Komatsu, Morooka, Takeuchi, Topcon, Spektra-Trimble Group and Volvo CE. The “Digital Construction Site” itinerary reproduces a bumpy road, with ups, downs and critical points, taking visitors through all the main aspects of modern construction sites, highlighting the central role of technology in supporting the daily work of operators and improving overall organization.

“Digital Construction Site” demos will be held twice daily (11:00 am and 2:30 pm) for the entire duration of the main event, offering visitors numerous opportunities to watch operating simulations and gain a first-hand understanding of how these technologies function. Machinery and operators will create during all sessions a realistic representation of work on a construction site. Operations follow a comprehensive and optimized process that begins with a site survey, continues with digital modelling and design, and concludes with uploading the project into the machinery and then carrying out work in the field. This configuration provides for a clear before-and-after view of the task in hand, effectively demonstrating the role of technology in controlling heights, slopes, and safety. Construction site activities include all the main operating stages: from the identification of underground services and removal of pipes, to excavation and roadbed correction, through to the creation of the new profile in accordance with the project, pipe laying and backfilling, finalising embankments, followed by precision levelling, compaction and asphalting.

“The Digital Construction Site,” said Matteo Pasinato, SaMoTer Event Manager, “is conceived as an open workshop where innovation is not only described but also demonstrated in action, through effective examples and real-world applications. The goal is to provide operators with useful tools and insights to help them tackle the challenges posed by digitalization, such as data management, machine connectivity, and process automation. In this context, the project slots perfectly in line with SaMoTer’s mission to accompany the entire supply chain towards a more advanced, integrated and internationally competitive site model.”

Technology is currently revolutionizing the construction site world: timelines are increasingly tight, quality standards are increasingly stiffer, and margins for error are virtually null. Without overlooking another fundamental topic: safety. Intelligent systems effectively operators recognize obstacles and people, prevent risk situations and make construction sites better controlled and protected environments. Against this background, innovation and digitalization become true allies of companies and operators.

Before and after the demos, the companies taking part will hold an exclusive “Walk Around” experience for small groups of up to 10 visitors. This ensures direct contact with technologies and industry professionals to promote more in-depth, practical, and interactive training. The walk-arounds will offer participants the opportunity to observe at first hand the technologies used on construction sites, gain detailed understanding of their operation through dedicated technical explanations, and attend practical demos with machinery operating under full control in a safe and supervised environment.

Xwatch Safety Solutions, part of Hexagon, a global leader in construction machinery safety systems, is integrating with Topcon Positioning Systems Inc.’s MC-X Platform to create a new, connected layer between machine control and on-machine safety.

Topcon’s MC-X Platform already brings mixed fleets together through intuitive 3D-MC software, Sitelink3D connectivity, and multi-constellation GNSS. With Xwatch integrated, this becomes a single, safety-aware machine control environment, where digital guidance, real-time machine data and active safety systems work together on the machine.

This marks the start of a co-operation between Topcon and Xwatch, with the first live integrations scheduled for the end of this year. Conexpo-Con/Agg 2026, taking place in Las Vegas from 3–7 March.

Dan Leaney, Global Managing Director, Xwatch Safety Solutions, said:

“This integration with Topcon’s MC-X Platform is a practical step forward in how the industry brings machine control and safety closer together. Xwatch has built its position as a global leader in construction machinery safety systems by focusing on what happens on the machine, in real working conditions. Connecting that capability into MC-X allows contractors and dealers to move towards a more joined-up, safety-aware and data-led way of operating their fleets. Conexpo is the right place to start those conversations and to show where this is heading.”

Fredrik Eklind, Head of Product Platform – Construction, Topcon Positioning Systems Inc,

“We’re bringing our two technologies closer together to deliver a more seamless and powerful experience for our shared customers. By combining our advanced 3D machine control advanced positioning capabilities with Xwatch’s safety and protection system, users will gain a fully mapped 3D ceiling, floor, and wall environment—enabling smarter, more intuitive avoidance and a new level of operational confidence.”

Visitors can find Topcon Positioning Systems Inc in the West Hall on booth W4292. Xwatch can be found on the Hexagon booth in the North Hall — N12545.

The Executive Hire Show returned to the Coventry Building Society Arena on 11 and 12 February 2026 and, by every measure, delivered another highly successful event for the hire industry.

While the final audited figures will be confirmed in the coming weeks, the early results already point to a strong year for the show. A total of 2,116 budget-responsible hire industry professionals attended across the two days, with 153 exhibitors on the show floor, including 30 companies exhibiting for the first time. Audience targets were exceeded compared to the 2025 and 2024 events, underscoring the show’s continued draw for the sector.

Visitor numbers were up year-on-year, but just as importantly, the quality of the audience stood out. The halls were busy with decision-makers who came with a clear purpose: to see the latest innovations, place orders, and make the most of the many show-only deals on the latest tools, machinery, and solutions. Exhibitors reported strong, focused conversations throughout both days, with many pointing to tangible business being done on the stands.

Innovation was a clear theme across the show, with a wide range of new products, technologies, and solutions on display, including developments that support more efficient operations and decarbonisation. The Innovation Trail once again proved popular, helping visitors quickly identify new products and solutions across the show floor. Peter and Lucas Haddock interviewed the ten selected companies, with all of the ‘Top Ten’ videos available to view on the Executive Hire Show website.

At the heart of the Executive Hire Show is the strength of relationships across the industry, and few illustrated that better than Daniel Koranteng from Premier Plant Hire Africa, based in Accra, Ghana. Daniel travelled to the UK specifically to attend the show and to meet with SANY UK & Ireland, the major plant supplier to Premier Plant & Tool Hire Limited in London. As he develops a mini-excavator hire market in Ghana, Daniel has found his relationship with SANY and Paul Kuebler particularly valuable in building both his knowledge and his business in Africa.

The show also attracted a number of well-known industry voices and content creators, underlining its role as a key meeting point for both buyers and the people shaping conversations across the sector. Among those attending were Nick Drew Digger Man Blog, Ollie Gunns and Ben Wade, better known as Ben the Operator.
Ollie Gunns, content creator and owner of Gunns Contractors, said: “Trade shows are great for lots of reasons. They get you off-site for a day, give you the chance to catch up with people across the industry, and let you get hands-on with the latest equipment before committing to buy. I always come away with something to think about, a new idea for the business, or a conversation that could lead to future opportunities. It was well worth the visit to the Executive Hire Show this year.”

From a commercial point of view, the show floor reflected a strong appetite to do business. Will Redmann, Distribution Manager North at Thwaites, said: “It was great to welcome John Harding, National Sales Manager at KHD Brokk Hire, to the Thwaites stand. KHD are among the first UK hirers to take delivery of two 2-tonne Hi-Swivel all-electric dumpers, in a deal with BTE Plant Sales.”

John Harding, National Sales Manager at KHD Brokk Hire, added: “It was a real pleasure meeting the team at Thwaites at the Executive Hire Show. We’re delighted to be the first company in the UK to take delivery of the Electric Hi-Tip Swivel Dumper and we’re looking forward to working together. We’re already planning to take another electric dumper in the near future.”

That momentum was echoed elsewhere on the show floor, including a major order by Stuart Energy Limited for 20 FG Wilson Pro Range Stage V diesel generators (20–60kVA) to strengthen its rental fleet. The agreement was signed by the Stuart siblings – Mark Stuart, Lee Stuart and Jane Stuart-Puttnam – continuing a long-standing relationship with FG Wilson that now spans 40 years.

Mark Stuart said: “Signing this deal at the Executive Hire Show makes it even more special for us. FG Wilson has been a trusted supply partner for 40 years, and that relationship really matters. These generators will go straight into our rental fleet to support our customers with reliable, modern kit. The Executive Hire Show is where the industry comes together and where proper business gets done — and this deal is a great example of that.”

Andy Munford, Managing Director at Shindaiwa, said: “This was certainly one of the best Executive Hire Shows yet. It’s always a real highlight in our calendar and this year delivered on every front. We had a great couple of days in Coventry and would like to thank everyone who took the time to visit the stand and place orders. We’re already looking forward to next year.”

Julie Houston Smyth, Managing Director at LOLEX Ltd, said: “We had a great two days at the Executive Hire Show with our supplier, Navigator Lifts. The stand was busy throughout, with strong interest from customers. The Ranger low level access mast and the Navigator 6.0 both attracted a lot of attention, with the Navigator 6.0 standing out as the only fully manual, power-free push-around scissor platform on the market.”

Klint Mills, National Sales Manager at Fuelco UK & Ireland, part of the Eredyne Group, said: “The Executive Hire Show was a great success for us at Fuelco and a really worthwhile event for the team.”

Peter Beach, Director of Marketing at Groundhog, said: “I’d like to thank everyone at the Executive Hire Show for organising another successful event. It was brilliant to catch up with hire professionals from across the sector, and we really appreciated the number of visitors who took the time to come and talk to us about Groundhog.”

Steve Smith, Area Sales Manager at Skyjack UK, said: “After a busy few days at the Executive Hire Show, the Skyjack Europe team would like to thank everyone who visited the stand. We really value the relationships we have with our customers and friends, and we appreciate their continued support.”

Damian McCabe, CEO of DyMac Global, said: “Thank you to everyone who took the time to visit us at the Executive Hire Show 2026, and a big thank you to the EHS team for putting on a great show.”
From a visitor’s perspective, the business value of the show was just as clear. Will Gough, Managing Director at Dudley-based Will Hire Ltd, said: “It was a really good trip to the Executive Hire Show. It was great to catch up with suppliers and fellow hire companies, and we’ve got fleet purchases inbound as a result.”

Anthony Rees, Managing Director at Rees Plant Services, added: “What an excellent day at the Executive Hire Show. There were lots of new products and new ideas on show, and we also came away having done an excellent deal with Gunn JCB.”

Brian Jones, Chairman of the Construction Plant-hire Association (CPA), said: “We had a great show at the Executive Hire Show at the Coventry Building Society Arena. It was excellent to catch up with so many CPA members and contacts, and to make some new connections. Thanks to the organisers for putting on such a strong event.”

Roger Verallo, Managing Director at Euro Towers Ltd and past Chairman of PASMA, said: “What a fantastic two days. It was a really great show and brilliantly organised. Our team would like to thank everyone who stopped by our stand – the support and interest we received made the whole event a major success. Well done to everyone involved.”

Jade Allen, Sales Manager at International Platforms, said: “The Executive Hire Show 2026 proved to be a highly productive and insightful event for our team. As the first major date in the industry calendar, it really does set the tone for the year ahead, and it gave us a great opportunity to meet face-to-face with suppliers, manufacturers, customers and colleagues all under one roof.”

The first day of the show also saw the return of the Passionate Hirer Awards, held on Tuesday 11 February and attended by around 200 exhibitors and senior figures from across the hire sector. Hosted by England rugby star David ‘Flats’ Flatman, the ceremony took place in front of a packed room. Alide Hire and Hire Services Southern took top honours on the night, while Josh Llewellyn, Chairman of the Gaia Group and MHM Group, received both a Special Recognition award and the ‘Industry Legend’ award.

Reflecting on the event, Chris Moore, Publishing and Event Director, said: “What stood out this year was not just the volume of business being done, but the breadth of new products and ideas being brought to market. Across the Show, we saw genuine innovation, from new equipment and technologies through to solutions supporting decarbonisation and more efficient operations. Just as importantly, the continued loyalty of both exhibitors and visiting hire companies shows the Executive Hire Show remains a trusted meeting place for the industry. The conversations and partnerships that start here extend well beyond the two days of the event, and that is what gives the show its real value.”

Looking ahead, the Executive Hire Show will return to the Coventry Building Society Arena on 10 and 11 February 2027, marking the show’s 20th anniversary at the home of hire.
