I'm heavily drawn to shades of gray in paintings, and capturing that soft washed out feel of a misty day. This is all about the ephemeral balance between sand and sky on one of those days.

I've started working in earnest on a large 24"x36" very detailed ocean wave painting. I've been itching to paint large for so long. I'm going to enjoy the process but put a lot of work into it each day so I can get it out there within a reasonable time.

Please also note that I've changed the look of my blog! A critique on Artist.Blog.Critique mentioned my outdated blog look, and I couldn't disagree. Check out that black bar up top - you can stick to Classic View to view full posts, which should be default. And it's fun to try out the Flipcard View to see just paintings that I've posted to get an overall feel of my work. Let me know how you like the new look, or if you have any problems!

I received a wonderful email from Judy Felker today - her blog Creative Wonder features many different artists around the world and she was kind enough to feature some of my own. Take the journey through some of the featured artists and I guarantee you'll find some new favorites.

While I haven't posted for a while, I'm working away at new paintings. Once I clear some more of my current inventory out, I'm very much leaning towards buying canvases in the 24x36 range to play with and try to sale. I've had so many inquiries from collectors about larger sizes in the last year. Just know that will hopefully not be too far off from becoming reality!

I thoroughly enjoyed painting this waterside scene from the Croatan National Forest. Many of us artists have subjects we subconsciously or not avoid; I've always been a little nervous to paint rocks but it was actually an enjoyable experience.

This view was the view from our cabin near Mendocino, California on our honeymoon a few years ago. It's a really beautiful spot and it was nice to revisit it through painting.
