It is with some sadness, that I inform you that I am taking a break from Mommy Babble. Actually, as of September 1, 2009 the powers that be at Content Quake are putting CQ on furlough. We are welcome to blog hre but…we will not be paid for our posts. As much as I enjoy writing at CQ, I need to spend my time where I am making money. I would like to invite you all to my main blog The Mom Maven, where I write parenting advice, Disney travel tips, product reviews and host giveaways. In case you have never visited me over there I’m going to give you some links to my favorite posts.

Teen Behavior, Thank-you Hotels Combined and A Pirate’s Life for Me.

I also have several giveaways going on right now including Yoplait Whips! Summer Cool Down Pack and The Unexpected Gift which end tonight.

So, so long for now and I hope to see you at TheMomMaven.com!

A while back I told you about the soon-to-be-released Daisy Fuentes Pilates for Wii by Sega. The game was released earlier this month and I have had the privilege of trying it out. I have never done Pilates before and I am not in great shape so I knew this would be a challenge.

The exercises are challenging, but not impossible. Actually for me the hardest part was the 5 minute run, warm-up. For me, a 5 minute run is a workout, not a warm-up! Once you get past the warm-up there are lots of exercises with tutorials so that you can learn how to do the moves properly. You can customize your workouts to meet your needs. This is a fun, affordable Wii based workout.

[kml_flashembed movie="http://www.youtube.com/v/-pPYVl82MUQ" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent" /]

Get your child back into the school groove with THE ELECTRIC COMPANY! Here are some suggestions from PBSPARENTS.org to keep the literacy learning going even out of the classroom.

Create a cozy, comfortable reading space with your child. Set rules for this area in your home to maintain peaceful reading.

Let your kids catch you reading. Talk about what you read in newspapers, books, and magazines with your children so they understand the importance of reading.

Encourage your child to read aloud at home. Your child will learn to read with expression and understanding while sharing stories with you – and siblings and grandparents, too!

A trip to the grocery store can reinforce reading skills. Have your child write the grocery list, find the items using the store’s signs, and read product labels — you can also encourage healthy eating.
