Design Event is an annual UK festival showcasing cutting edge work from designers across all disciplines.

Design Event's next edition - DE07 - takes place in Newcastle, Gateshead from 11-28 October 2007, and film & new media curators Cinefeel are currently putting together a video programme for screening at the Baltic Contemporary Arts Centre.

Cinefeel are inviting filmmakers and animators to send in work which has something to say on the subject of this year's DE07 theme of "How do we want to live?".

From the work screened in the programme, the organisers and festival partners will choose an overall winner who'll receive a £500 cash prize and the winning piece will be profiled on the site of DE07's media partner E-CR (the downloadable edition of Creative Review).

Deadline for entries is August 10th 2007.

The SysAdmin of the Year program is an opportunity for business people to recognize their IT administrators by nominating them for the SysAdmin of the Year 2007.

Any business professional may nominate an IT system, networking, database or other type of technical administrator. Nominators are required to submit an online nomination entry form summarizing why they believe the nominee deserves the honor of being named the Sysadmin of the Year. Without Pockets is an Australian t-shirt design competition run by a guy named Simon (who is helped out by a couple of his mates.)

It occurred to Simon a while back that people are getting pickier and pickier about the stuff they buy. Customisation is the name of the game and people love it when they can purchase something that has a personal element - this is never more true than with clothing.

As well as that, Simon loves a great tee. He also noticed how many people were making really awesome tees of their own... customised to the max. As these realisations collided, Without Pockets was conceived.

Inspire is an online store that sells exclusive t-shirts.

The project started in January of 2006 by a graphic design studio.

Currently t-shirts are house designed. During this process the visitors can see the evolutions, comment and vote in these new designs.

With the goal to find new talents on t-shirts design, Inspire is developing in parallel a project that aims the creation of an online t-shirt design community. We expect a positive interaction that will promote the sprouting of new concepts.

Lingkungan kota semakin lama semakin tidak nyaman ditinggali. Padatnya populasi memaksa orang tinggal di lahan yang sempit. Akibatnya, kualitas hidup yang semestinya diperoleh, tidak bisa didapat. Ruang gerak terbatas, udara pengap, dan kebisingan menjadi kondisi yang seolah harus diterima penduduk kota.

Dengan latar belakang itu, Tabloid RUMAH mengadakan sayembara desain rumah hemat energi. Dari sini, dapat digali ide-ide kreatif dalam mengolah desain tempat tinggal yang memperhatikan konteks lingkungan.

Sayembara ini juga diselenggarkan dalam rangka kampanye Sahabat Lingkungan yang digaungkan Tabloid RUMAH tahun ini. Diharapkan, dengan sayembara ini kepedulian masyarakat terhadap akan lingkungan akan meningkat

Karya-karya desain yang dihasilkan nanti diharapkan dapat menjadi inspirasi bagi masyarakat dalam membangun rumah tinggal yang hemat energi dan ramah lingkungan.

Google Australia launch 'Doodle 4 Google My Australia' Contest. This contest open to students from Years 1 to 10. Design and Logo Contest for an eBay consignment site

The site is an eBay consignment site for Austin, Texas. Basically, we pick up items from a person's house, appraise the items, sell them on eBay, and then pay them proceeds (minus a commission). We handle the item photos, creating the listing, and shipping the item.

The site template should be simple and clean. Here is a quick sketch of the type of site we are looking for (http://takesellpay.com/tsp.jpg). The sketch really sucks, but should give you an idea of the site elements we need. The design needs to have several graphics/photos added to it. The graphics/photos can be stock items. The logo in the sketch is only a place holder. We don't want anything like it.

The logo will also be used in print advertising and on T-Shirts. It should be simple and fun, please don't use too many colors.

The color scheme is left to the designer, but please use conservative colors.
