The 2012 British Wildlife Photography Awards are now open for entries. The Awards were established in 2009 to recognize the talents of wildlife photographers of all nationalities practicing in Britain, whilst at the same time highlighting the great wealth and diversity of Britain’s natural history.

3x3, the first magazine devoted entirely to the art of contemporary illustration is calling for illustration works for its ninth Professional Show.

For the ninth annual show, 3x3 is calling all illustrators around the world. Entries can be submitted in 15 different categories, for almost any type of illustration works.

The Magazine will be awarding a $1500 cash prize for the Best of Show, plus cash-value prizes for the gold medal winners.

FILE - Electronic Language International Festival is open for new entries, by the end of February, to be exhibited in FILE 2012 exhibition. The 13a- edition of FILE in São Paulo will happen between July and August, 2012, in the Art Gallery of SESI-SP at FIESP Ruth Cardoso Cultural Center.

The Festival accepts lots of different types of artworks in 3 main groups: sound and music artworks, interactive artworks and digital artworks.

Besides exhibition entrance, FILE will receive proposals for lectures and workshops to participate at FILE Symposium and Workshop 2012. Both events will happen simultaneously during the first week of FILE 2012 exhibition, in São Paulo.

Renaissance is an international photography competition where all funds raised go to support breast cancer, and which culminates in a one week exhibition and celebrity private view at the prestigious Mall Galleries, London. The 2012 competition is open for entries for two more weeks.

Applications opened yesterday for the second edition of the biennal Future Generation Art Prize, launched by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation in 2009. The Prize is intended to provide long-term support for future generation of artists.

The winner will receive a total of $100,000: $60,000 as a cash award, and $40,000 toward the production of new work.

The prize is supported by over 50 partner platforms all over the world. The winner will be announced in December 2012, coinciding with an exhibition of the shortlisted artists at the PinchukArtCentre in Kiev from October 2012 to January 2013.

Second edition of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation’s $100,000 Future Generation Art Prize is announced

The Prize is open to all artists up to the age of 35 without any restrictions concerning gender, nationality, race or artistic medium, with the aim of acknowledging and giving long-term support to a future generation of artists. The Prize is unique because of its global reach and highly democratic form of application via the Internet.

Commenting on the launch of the 2^nd edition of the Future Generation Art Prize, founder Victor Pinchuk said: “With our prize, we don’t want to reward the past, but inspire the future. We want to act as social investors into the arts. Our prize is the equivalent of an incubator for start up businesses. Everybody can apply, from everywhere. The best get advice and resources for new work and a chance to present themselves to the world. For me this is an exciting social investment, creating inspiration for societies”.

Aside from the main prize of $100,000, an additional $20,000 will be allocated to fund artist-in-residency programmes for up to five other prize-winners.

MAGMA Brand Design is calling all photographers to get involved in an interesting calendar project called Poladarium. Any interested photographer can submit entries for Poladarium 2013, a tear-off calendar, just like the one our grandma used to hang in the kitchen. The twists is that this calendar unveils a new image/polaroid photography and its story every day.

Through this call, MAGMA is planning to collect 365 instant pictures and make them a part of the next edition of Polaroid calendar - Polaroid 2013.

The main requirement is to use a Polaroid SX-70 or 600 camera for the submitted photos.

Any photographer is invited to contribute to this project. Though there are no special prizes, it's a great opportunity for publicity and promotion of instant photography works.

Nicon's Small World Photomicrography Competition 2012 is open for entries. The Competition is open to anyone with an interest in photography through the microscope.

The Nikon International Small World Competition first began in 1974 as a means to recognize and applaud the efforts of those involved with photography through the light microscope. Since then, Small World has become a leading showcase for photomicrographers from the widest array of scientific disciplines.

Truly international in scope, entries have been received from the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, Latin America, Asia, and Africa. Winners have included both professionals and hobbyists.

Recognizing Excellence in Photography through the Microscope

The subject matter is unrestricted and any type of light microscopy technique is acceptable, including phase contrast, polarized light, fluorescence, interference contrast, darkfield, confocal, deconvolution, and mixed techniques. Entries submitted to Nikon are then judged by an independent panel of experts who are recognized authorities in the area of photomicrography and photography. These entries are judged on the basis of originality, informational content, technical proficiency and visual impact.

Anyone over the age of 18 interested in digital or film photography through the microscope is eligible, with the exception of employees of Nikon, their families, the contest judges, and individuals engaged in the manufacture or sale of microscopes or photographic equipment.

Winners will receive one of 20 prizes, sorted according to rank in the competition. First prize is $3,000 toward the purchase of Nikon equipment.

Each year, the top 20 prize-winners are exhibited at numerous museums and science centers throughout the United States and Canada. Many winning images are also featured on the covers of prestigious scientific and industrial journals.

Young pianists from around the world are invited to register for the 8th International Piano Competition "J. S. Bach" 2013. The competition is an opportunity to compete in playing selected works from Johann Sebastian Bach.

The Competition will conclude with the prize winner concert in March 2013. Four main cash prizes and two special prizes are available for the best young pianists.

This is a competition open to candidates born after 1st April 1976, i.e. who are no older than 36 at the time of the contest.

Promoting and Underlining the Importance of the «Bach-Image»

This contest offers young pianists of all nationalities the opportunity to compete together with a view to promoting and underlining the importance of the «Bach-Image» both in public concerts and in the field of teaching.

In the contest, candidates should not only demonstrate pianistic and artistic skills, but also a strongly developed awareness of style in their Bach interpretation. Scope is nevertheless given for individual interpretation within the framework of original texts.

This is a three stage competition which concludes with a concert. The prize winner concert will take place on 21st March 2013, 7.00 pm. in the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg -- Gebäude „Am Residenzplatz“, Hofstraße 13.
