I never been the type to just meet a lot of new people on my own, when I do meet people its cool but I never seem to stick with them.I tend to meet people at a party have fun for the hour and then that’s it. I am now wanting to have some real friends that I can hang out with, go places with , and have good conversation.. I want to meet people that I can trust but I don’t know where to start..

maybe there is a regular social party night and you can make new acquaintances and the more permanent type of friend you seek at the same time. There is nothing wrong with meeting new people who you dont want to remain friends with just for conversation and exchange of ideas

my mom and dad didn’t talk a lot, they said just being with each other was enough, Tell him you love him and get him started on something he can go on and on about and just listen.

You only need to believe in yourself !
To you this sounds like I don’t understand you, believe me I do, trust your own instincts and act as you feel this you should act, from yourself comes self confidence, as you try more situations and become comfortable with yourself you will feel the self confidence growing within you.
Now as far as your control question it will follow that as you gain more control over your fears your confidence will look after you too !
