Usually I am very skeptic when it comes to microwave cooking, because most of the things I tried weren't that great.A few days ago I had a skype call with the lovely Kitty Rose Lovet and she was making microwave potatoes during that call. And since she is a potato lover like I am,I had to try that too.
Google had the instructions.
You need:
1 large or 2 medium sized potatoes
margarine,pepper,salt
water
(your favorite topping)

Scrub the potatoes well under hot water, poke some holes (5-10) in the potatoes with a fork,so the potato's steam can escape.
Place the potatoes in a deep dish with a little bit of water at the bottom (6-10 tablespoons) and insert into your microwave.
Cook on high setting for 5 minutes, then turn the potatoes over and cook for another 5 min.Insert a knife to check if the potato core is done.If not,add 2 min of cooking time.Slit the potato open, add a teaspoon of margarine and season with pepper and salt.
You can serve the potato with sour cream, cheddar and bacon or with some soft cheese spread, herbs and garlic.

I will definitely make this recipe again, because 40 minutes of oven baking time versus 10 minutes of microwaving is a clear victory for the microwave.

Hi dollies

Sorry for the lack of post yesterday, but I was caught up in negative thoughts and listless apathy.
I went through my lipstick drawer and found a poor crappy lipstick palette which I rarely use because the colors are a little on the senior citizen side.So I thought "lets scoop out all the colors, melt them and turn them into a 2 in 1 product"
I ended up using 3 of the 5 colors : a very flashy pink,a weird purple and a tiiiny bit of bright red.
The purple had shimmer in it,which didn't mix too well with the other two colors, even after melting them two times.Well a little purple swirl doesn't hurt :) To give the lipstick some sort of moisturizing property I added a little cocoa butter and raw honey, which really enhanced the smell and flavor of this DIY project.
The result is quite good, especially as a cream blush it works like a charm. On the lips it lasts for about 3 hours with no eating or making out.

If you could wish for the perfect lipstick, what color/texture/finish would it be?

I have constantly been wearing nail polish for the last months. There were only a few days I allowed my nails to be bare and get a fair share of oxygen, which is not optimal. So I made an oath : No colored nail polish for at least 14 days, more intensive nail care routines and a proper nail strengthening treatment.

For a nail hardener to really work you have to follow a routine : Apply, leave on for 2 days, remove ,one day break and re-apply.But you shouldn't use a nail strengthener more than 2-3 weeks, you have to switch after.Especially the nail hardeners that don't have hydrating ingredients should not be used for more than 2 weeks, because you will end up with rock-hard,dry nails very prone to chipping.I use the essence Ultra Strong Nail Hardener and the Dido Nail hardener. The essence one does a fabulous job at hardening and the Dido one is very rich in nutrients and hydrating substances.

On the days I wear nothing at all on my nails I try to apply as much hand cream, balms, cuticle oils and olive oil lotion as possible.
Oriflame makes a wonderful Apricot and white tea hand and nail cream, which gets absorbed pretty fast and helps the nails to stay hydrated. The nail care products from essence are also a must-have,because they contain a lot of wonderful natural nail strengtheners and substances that help the nail to grow.

It actually doesn't need to be a hand-cream,because any body lotion or any moisturizer will make your nails and cuticles a lot happier.
For the night I have a special lotion, which is a cheap-ass moisturizer from the supermarket (60 cents) mixed 2:1 with olive oil.I apply this lotion, put on some latex gloves and sleep. This is one of the best ways to give your nails tons of nutrients and moisture.

Dolls,I am sorry I won't show you any fancy nail art on my nails, you will see some of the experimental looks I do on fake nails :D

It is quite amazing to see how much the condition of my nails has improved even after a few days.
You need:
a plastic bowl
your favorite silver jeweler
laundry detergent/washing powder (preferably the one for hand-washing or biological one)
hot water

Place all the jewelery in a bowl, add 1-2 tablespoons of washing powder and add hot (not boiling!!!) water.
Wait for 10-30 minutes depending on how dirty the jewelery is and remove it from the bowl.Rinse and pace on a towel to dry.

I was slightly in a hurry this morning,so I just took a olive-brownish eyeshadow and applied it all over the lid,tight-lined the eyes and smudged it.Mascara and I was ready to go.
It may not be the most innovative look, but it was quite nice and suitable for all activities today.A full-blown goth face is not the best choice for chores.
Lips : Beautyline cosmetics ultra shine gloss in #08

I have quite a few small bow-clips for my hair,but since I wear a messy,puffy bun quite a lot,I thought I would make a bigger bow.
I used:
a piece of synthetic fabric ( a sleeve of a stretchy top to be correct)
needle thread
metal hair clip
glue
Little mesh with rhinestone

Because a lot of hair accessories that are glued to the clip have a tendency to fall off after some time,I thought I use some thread to secure it even more.
The fabric is quite fuzz-free because you just lightly burn the edges with a liter and it will melt into a perfect seam.
Just fold it,give it a few stitches and add the rhinestones in the middle.Glue the bow to the hair clip and secure it with a series of stitches. If you have a hot glue gun,you won't need to do that.

That was quite a spontaneous late night crafting session :d

Time to go to bed ;)

1.I'm kind of stuck in my past : Everybody has had one or maybe more childhood traumas.I somehow still get haunted by the past which sometimes prevents me from looking in the future.

2.Keeping my mouth shut in situations when I should stand up for myself : I prefer to be quiet sometimes not to cause drama. In rather unimportant situations I stand up for myself and I can get quite nasty.

3.Sometimes I am too hard on myself : A screwed up mani,a spilled drink or a slightly inedible dish can really push me to the edge.It is not good to punish yourself by thinking what a mess you just produced and how ugly it is.

4.I am too attached to some inanimate objects : There are a few belongings that have a certain holy status for me and when other people touch those object or even worse treat those object without any respect ,I fall apart and usually just cry my eyes out.

5.Trying to look strong in moments of weakness : Sometimes you just have to let people around you know, that you are not feeling too good, emotionally or physically.Especially in front of my loved ones I try to keep it together as much as possible.

6.Overindulgence : Give me a box of chocolate and I will take care of it in no time.It really takes some effort to only eat one or two pieces.

7.Tiny things can ruin my day : The first 10 minutes of the day determine how the rest of my day will be.

8.Sexual references or people implying something sexual to a perfectly normal phrase bring out a very very evil side of me.Here in Greece you can't say Banana or Cucumber in male presence ,because they automatically associate something sexual with those two things.I have thrown a lot of bitch-fits ......a lot of them.Banana Pudding is banned from my list of deserts to serve guests.

9.F-words : Even here on the blog I have to really control myself not to speak like a cheap Gordon Ramsay knock-off.It's a baaaad habit

10.Not being able to put clothes back into the closet properly : I hate this habit.Every week a mountain of clothes is piled up on my vanity. And every week I promise myself to make an effort. But then at night I am too sleepy to put them away AGAIN.

Do you have any imperfections you would like to share>?????

Every once in a while I feel the need to paint or draw, despite the fact that my skills are not the best. But it's better to draw badly than not drawing at all!!!Usually I draw very weird stuff which is kind of private because it exposes too much of my mental state, but the following two projects won't be too weird.
Let's start with the happy stuff shall we?
It is supposed to be a chinchilla comic where a chinchilla begs the human (depicted as a pair of legs and feet) for a treat, but doesn't get it.And because chinchillas are slightly evil it chews the tv cable as an act of revenge.

The second piece of paper and paint is rather crazy......A primate skull(?)...well a skull of some sort with lipstick and a really swirly eye condition. There is also a jelly bean with a top hat and a flower.
I am not sure why I painted this, but I surely had a great time doing it :D

I think I have to share another fact: During my years at school I always had bad grades at art, because it is so difficult for me to draw something a teacher wants to be drawn.
"Draw a pumpkin kids.....with water colors"
Me:" But I don't wanna draw a pumpkin and I haaaaaate water colors"
"But cookingchinchillas, you are at school and sadly the curriculum demands the students to draw pumpkins"
Me :" Oookaay :("
So I just painted a huge orange dot on a black background and gave it some stripes.....
F!!!!!
What was your craziest art project?

2.Filthy Filthy German tourists : I was waiting on a parking lot in full Goth gear including a latex corset. Two elderly German tourists assumed that I can't understand them, because we are in Greece."Look Herbert how this girl is dressed,I think she is a domina.....how slutty" In my head I thought ooookay, this will be fun.I approached Herbert and told him :" Look Herbert, your wife has hairy cave-man legs, isn't that a total turn off?????"
It wasn't exactly nice to behave like that in front of two elderly persons, but calling me a slut.noooh uhhh!

3.Bummer of the day/year/decade : Applebee's Greece has closed.(I was about to cry) No more boneless wings,no more Rib eye sandwich and no more Strawberry lemonaaaaaade. That ruined my day completely and is one of the reasons I am a headless chicken. There is no other place with epic Rib eye sandwiches :(((((
The worst part is : I had collected 12 (!!!!) coupons for a free desert and I was planning to eat at least 2 slices of raspberry cheesecake today.

4.We had a severe case of chinchilla paranoia today.Chinchillas make a honking/barking sound when they are scared.I was giving our chin his morning massage and he suddenly started honking at me.My dear partner was loling :" Haha he is terrified of that weird lipstick you are wearing" Yes,thanks a lot!

5.I did something really stupid today : Making a stunning Gratin Dauphinoise and being too hungry to take a picture.Fail -----> Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaail

6.When somebody stares at you for longer than a minute, wave at them.(I kind of like to make people feel uncomfortable or embarrassed)

7.Today me and my partner are together for 10 years. To all the people that doubted us,warned us and tried to break us up : Fuck you,we can't be separated !258!!!!

8.Almost has a huge wardrobe malfunction today: Those fabrics that seem opaque, but when the sun suddenly shines on them, they expose everything should be forbidden.Thank god I always carry a black shirt in my purse.

9.For the girls : Have you ever accidently rammed your elbow in your boob??? It huuuuuurtsss soooo badly.

10.One of our real life friends opened a blog and demanded that I add his link to my blogroll.I told him, yeah if you add me too,no problem.A day later he came over and told me : " Uhhm I removed you from my blogroll, because I don't want to look gay " (Make up looks etc) Then I served cake and I didn't serve him. He started to be all boohhooo and my answer was :" I thought my food makes you look gay"

And I decorated my lighter with a nail art pen :D

Sorry it took me a few days to do a tutorial on that look!

The finished look

Apply your foundation and concealer, prime the eyes and apply a light gray eyeshadow all over your eye up to the browbone.

Tightline the upper and lower waterline with an eye pencil. It doesn't have to be neat

Line the upper lashline, again to need to be neat or precise

Set the liner with a matte black eyeshadow and start smudging with a pencil brush

If you want a tutorial for a look, just let me know dolls!

The look should take you about 5-10 minutes and of course you can always go for a less dramatic version by adding less black or simply by changing the color.I am sure it works with brown too.

The reason for this haul is actually kind of sad.I came home from a rather unpleasant day and all I wanted to do is: Nail art.Opening my nail art box I noticed that all my acrylic paints are gone.....searched everywhere, they were gone. Then I was informed that my mother in law took them to paint some pottery stuff, but she didn't tell me.So I called her and I was quite angry, because just taking something without even asking is just not cool.I mean c'mon a box of acrylic paints is like 2-3 Euros an available in every super market here.
Yesterday I was on the road all day and coming home I found a bag with my name on it.
Yaaaaaay. new acrylic paints and goodies.
The lipgloss and the blusher are from glamour magazine, the lipstick is from a no-name brand (I can't read the label. It's seetal or something).
I LOVE the blusher and the lipstick! The gloss is great too,but the shade is not right for me.
Hi dolls

Yesterday my little German tummy was screaming at me : " Heeeey, are you forgetting your roots? I like Greek food, but pleaaaase pleassee feed me with something German"
Ooookay tummy!
This recipe is a real time saver, because the batter for the fritters is soo quickly made.

You need :
Your favorite Salad
1 small potato (finely grated)
1 egg
5-6 tablespoons flour
pepper
salt

frying oil

For the dip/dressing:
200 gr of yogurt (If you can find greek yogurt,go for it!)
1 scallion (sliced thinly)
1 teaspoon lemon juice
a dash of garlic powder or 1/2 clove pushed through the garlic press
pepper salt

To start off, squeeze all the juice out of the grated potato shreds and place them in a bowl.Add the egg and seasoning, then add the flour.Mix well to avoid lumps.
Add 4 tablespoons of frying oil to a non stick pan and let the pan get hot. With a teaspoon place a small amount of potato batter in the pan and flatten the batter so it cooks evenly.Turn the heat down a bit, because you don't want charred Reibekuchen with a raw center.
Once they are golden brown, remove them from the pan on to a paper towel to drain the excess fat.

For the dip simply mix all the dip ingredients well.
Serve the hot Reibekuchen with your salad and the yogurt dip/dressing,but if you want a separate dressing for your salad, just go with your favorite one.

Tomorrow is a big day and like I have said in the previous post,I have to look kind of normal. No eyeliner wings,no flashy shadows.
But nobody can prevent me from doing a dramatic eye make up!
The look is quick, because I just use light gray matte eyeshadow, black eyeshadow and an eye pencil.
Hope you like it dolls and in case you want to see a step by step tutorial for a make up look, please let me know!!

Did I ever tell you that I hate occasions where you have to tone down make up and nails???
I wanted something really flashy for my nails, but then this lame lame lame occasion popped up and I have to do something more plane-jane. -_- Yes.
Of course I could just paint my nails with one color and be safe and classy.....But that wouldn't be fun.So I decided to do some simple glitter flowers on a purple-blue-gray background and screw the attempt to look normal.
It's always so uncomfortable to be normal, because pretending is not my favorite thing to do.

Later I will also show you the make up I have planned for tomorrow's lame occasion :D
-Dab a damp green tea bag (ultra cold water please ) on your under eye area.
-Rub an ice cube around the eye area.Be sure to not let the bare ice touch your skin for more than 7 seconds.
-Massage the brow area and make funny faces. This will help to distribute the water and get rid of the puff mess.
-Potato juice (cut a tiny piece of potato and rub it under the eye, wash it off after 5 min)

It's kind of late, but I wanted to do some nail art because I have bought a brush for the 'one stroke' technique.Sadly it's not soft enough.
One stroke technique enables you to apply 2 colors in one stroke and this way you can create more realistic flowers, leafs and ombre/fade effect designs.
It was my first try,so it's not even close to the real deal, but we will eventually get there :)
The brush was only 50 cents,so it's no big deal.I will go with a softer bristle flat brush the next time.
I also need new acrylic paints! My pack of 12 colors is almost finished.
Here is my first one stroke attempt :
Hi dolls

Today I wanted to make creme Brulee, but then I saw a picture of Leche Flan.So I couldn't decide.
Why not marry them??? Take the good features of each dish and combine.I love Leche Flan, but 12 egg yolks is a lot.And I looooove creme brulee, but the top can sometimes be bitter.
You get the idea :)

For the custard :
400 ml of double/heavy cream
60 gr sugar
30 gr brown sugar
170 ml milk
30 ml water
1-2 teaspoons vanilla extract
a dash of salt
4 egg yolks

For the caramel :
100 gr brown sugar
3 tablespoons of water

or 100 gr caramel syrup

for the mold : 1 tablespoon of butter

You should start with the caramel. In a heavy bottom saucepan mix the brown sugar with water and let it melt and caramelize.Don't stir, just carefully move the pan.Once the color is golden brown/amberish,you are done.

Let's move on with the custard ! If you have a blender, add all the ingredients and mix for 20 seconds,if you don't have a blender, whisk the ingredients until the sugar has dissolved.Chill the mixture in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
Now you got to grease an ovenproof deep dish and fill the bottom with the caramel. You can also use a lot of small molds.

For the oven you need a deep baking tray.Place your mold with the bruleeflan in the deep tray and fill the tray with hot water,so that the mold is inside the water.1-2 'fingers' of water will do the job.Preheat the oven to 150 degree celsius (medium heat) and cook the brulee flan for 30-40 minutes or until a inserted toothpick comes out clean.
Chill until you serve it!
To serve it simply take a flat plate and place it on top of the flan mold.Hold plate and mold together and flip rapidly.Taaadaaaaa

I came across a blog which is rather sickening! A blog consisting of stolen images only and a whole bunch of lies.
http://nail-polishdesign.blogspot.com/2011/06/flower-designs-nail-art-your-getaway-to.html
Even my crappy flower nail art was stolen by this person. She even has the balls to steal pictures of famous nail art bloggers/youtubers.
I mean WTF is this?????

Feel free to have a look at that crappy crappy blog.

I never wanted to use my nail art to scratch out somebodies eyes that badly. This is how furious I am.
Some nail artists spend hours to create their designs,so why can't this thief-blogger just respect the time and effort somebody puts into a design???????
Is it so hard to add the source of an image????? Or at least ask for permission????
2.I have never imagined a chinchilla could throw a rage fit.....But they actually can.I tried to get back a receipt that he had stolen from the coffee table and the poor stuffed dog had to pay for my mistake. He literally humped it to death.
3.My soul is chocolate corrupted.....Even a waitress running into my hurt leg was not a big deal after a complimentary bowl of ice cream.Damn :P
4. Hell's Kitchen is responsible for a growling tummy now......and I crave strawberry lemonade
5.I am so happy for a good friend who won a HUGE sigma give away. It's beyond cool that a great and humble person won something awesome.
6.Have you ever fixed an electric appliance with pure violence???It works, really!
7.Annoying new neighbors! The woman has a voice from hell,it's just so demonic. When she calls the kids for lunch, all heavy metal bands united won't reach her level of screaming. The first time I heard that I was almost sure that either the antichrist had arrived on earth or Dani Filth is giving birth to an elephant.
8.I am also very sick and tired of people and their phoney double standards......But on the other hand it is such a great feeling to tell a person that you know they just lied to you.
9.Tomorrow I will really try and rest.I should rest the knee ,but sadly life doesn't allow it right now.But tomorrow I shall be a lazy person and stay in bed all day or surround myself with beauty products.
10.Oh and I managed to piss the poor chinchilla off even more: Placing him in a pottery-basket and taking pictures.

Since my faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaavorite tv show ever is currently airing,I had to do a nail art design.
It's not the most original design I have ever done, but I certainly love the flames and the holo glitter background.

How you can use it :
1.As a toner.Soak a cotton pad with rice water and gently pad it on your skin
2.As a nail treatment .You can soak your hands in a bowl of rice water for 10-20 minutes and provide nutrients and moisture for your skin.
3.As a hair rinse : Mix a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to the rice water and after shampooing rinse your hair with rice water.
4.As a after sun treatment.Soak a towel with rice water and apply to mild sunburns or sun-damaged skin.
