         <title>Taking the "Lug" out of Luggage</title>

&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;The Canadian Press:&lt;/b&gt; A combination of consumer demand, design modifications and innovative materials has allowed manufacturers to switch gears to produce smaller, lighter and ergonomically friendly products, says Alan Krantzler, vice-president of Tumi luggage brand's product management.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;"The No. 1 trend in the industry right now is about lightweight," he says. "It's always been a consumer demand, but it has become increasingly important."&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The driving factors, he says: an aging population who finds it difficult to pull around burdensome, easily tipped bags; airline fees, including some carriers that not only charge for heavy bags but any checked bag at all; and the desire for business-leisure crossover items.&lt;/p&gt;

         <title>Glasses Without Screws, Soldering or Welding</title>

Berlin Brillen Gmbh, known for its patented, screwless-spring-hinge-insert system.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The company’s mainstay is sheetmetal glasses, priding itself in designing and producing them without screws, soldering or welding. The screwless system allows users to separate the temples from the front frame, and change the lenses by hand with a few twists and turns.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Sheetmetal glasses are also very flexible, said Anderl, as he firmly pulled the temples outwards to align with the main frame.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;“You don’t have to worry if you accidentally sit on it or your child grabs it from your face. The structure will not be affected,” he assured. “Our problem is teaching people not to be afraid to experiment with the eyewear or use the (screwless) system.”&lt;/p&gt;

         <title>Open Kitchen Night</title>

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Springwise:&lt;/strong&gt; If the underground restaurant known as Charlie's Burgers departs from the norm in part through its secrecy and its constantly changing venue, Open ChefAMe is in some ways its opposite, featuring instead the creations of different aspiring chefs at each of its well-publicized monthly events.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Through the participation of a few Philadelphia restaurants, Open ChefAMe offers what it calls an "open mic night" for local aspiring chefs on one Monday each month. The chosen culinary talents for each event get to pick the menu for a three-course meal, take over the kitchen at the participating restaurant and then cook dinner for a crowd. The dinner in May, for example, featured the talents of local food blogger Felicia D’Ambrosio and pastry arts student Alyssa Shilliday; the menu included sweet corn soup with chives and bacon garnish, gougéres with dry-cured ham, watercress and Dijon cream, Moroccan spiced braised lamb shoulder with lentils and minted yoghurt, Thai watermelon soup, sake-poached halibut with marinated cucumber salad, and Korean style skirt steak with pears. The next event—the fourth so far—will be on July 27; tickets are USD 35. After each event Open ChefAMe donates more than 25 percent of its profits to at least one charity, chosen by the night's chefs.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;Examiner.com:&lt;/b&gt; Crowdsourcing is a phenomenon that is gaining fast acceptance in the business community and beyond. It has the potential to affect business quite fundamentally and can usher in radical changes to business models and business processes everywhere.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Crowdsourcing is a method that involves and uses “crowds” (i.e., large, undefined, randomly distributed, undirected, unsupervised groups of people) to performs tasks and accomplish goals.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Here are 2 live examples of successful crowdsourcing:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;MOBILE PHONE DESIGN&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;As recently as April - June 2009, LG crowdsourced the design of their next mobile phone.  In a job posted to crowdSPRING in April 2009, LG has issued a challenge to people everywhere: Design the future of mobile communication device. Here is what the listing actually said:&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;“Predict what's next. What do you think mobile phones should look like in 2, 5, or 10 years? We are asking for your help. We're NOT looking for a long list of specs or phone ideas that already exist. We're looking for a cool new concept or "big idea" supported by usage scenario illustrations."&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;AUDITING EXPENSES FILED BY YOUR MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The U.K. newspaper – Guardian – recently launched a crowdsourcing application called “Investigate your MP's expenses”.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The landing page says it all: “Join us in digging through the 700,000 documents of MPs' expenses to identify individual claims, or documents that you think merit further investigation. You can work through your own MP's expenses, or just hit the button below to start reviewing. (Update, Thurs evening: More added now and more coming all the time. Check back if you haven't found your MP yet).”&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Each MP's expenses and claims are presented as a set of images, and users can determine what entries there are on a page, and decide whether the page is unimportant, interesting, "interesting but known" or worthy of investigation.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;As of June 18th, the site had 77252 pages of documents, of which 23891 are unreviewed. Click &lt;a href="http://mps-expenses.guardian.co.uk"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt; to launch it.&lt;/p&gt;

Alysa Binder and Dan Wiesel thought they could do better, and the result is &lt;a href="http://petairways.com/"&gt;Pet Airways&lt;/a&gt;, which starts flying pets around the country in July 2009.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;From drop off to pick up every aspect of the pet's comfort has been thought through, with pre- and post-flight walks, comfortable waiting areas, and boarding on either side if necessary. The animals are walked (or carried) onto the plane where they board the main cabin, escorted by pet attendants. The interior of Pet Airways' planes have been converted to carry 50 pets and the attendants—not pet owners. Kennels in all sizes are mounted to vertical rows, and each pet travels in comfort and safety inside the cabin, not underneath.&lt;/p&gt;

         <title>A New Competitor to Botox - Dysport</title>
         <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;b&gt;the33tv.com:&lt;/b&gt; Two and a half million Americans got Botox injected last year to smoothe out wrinkles in their foreheads, between eye brows and erase dreaded crows feet. But a new drug has just been released that may be its new competitor. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Lisa Bailey has been contemplating getting Botox for over a year now. She says, "I would like to get rid of those lines and have a more natural look." But she was hesitant, knowing one side effect of Botox is having a 'frozen appearance'. But a brand new products is trying to fix that. Lisa says, "What sparked my interest in Dysport it's more of a natural look."&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Dr. Jeffrey Adelglass, of Skintatic, is one of the first doctors in the US to try it out on patients, after it was approved by the FDA a month ago, although it's already being used in Europe. Botox has been on the market now for 7 years and Dysport is the first competitor, so now the battle to beauty is going wrinkle to wrinkle with more products that offer beautiful, more younger looking skin.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Both drugs are Botlism A and work similarly to relax muscles, but Dysport promises quicket results, that last longer and is about 20 percent cheaper than Botox. Dr. Adelglass says, "It's other main difference is it has a larger area of effect, 12:59:47and what that means it could potentially give you a natural look as it spreads throughout for example the forehead or other larger areas."&lt;/p&gt;
